Do you know if someone buyed an imac 5K a month ago, could now change old keyboard and mouse with new ones?

I really think that depends on the return policy and if you are in that window. If it is a 30 day on a mac, I am sure they would switch it if you are inside that window.

I don't know, it's not for me but is a friend....He paid 2500 euros for the imac and i see now that the same machine costs 2129, with new keyboard and new mouse...
I told him to return his mac and buy a new one!

BTW, the new Trackpad charges beautifully on my Twelve South lightning dock. And maybe it can double as an HDTV tuner for my Mac while it's docked. :)

Totally baffled by the charging design on the mouse. I can't even imagine Jony Ive got a final say on it. No inductive charging. No dock. No ability to use while charging. The lightning port is in the most awkward spot, at the most awkward angle imaginable. And no user replaceable battery. Amazing.

And I'm losing productivity because instead of just inserting new batteries in the mouse, I have to wait until it is charged...
Not so smart I think. They should have made the lightning port on the front so you could use it as a wired mouse when charging...

Since you don't work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. How about you remember to plug it in during the night after work when the low battery warning shows up...

I don't see anything awkward about it. If the mouse is supposed to be used while charging, then yes it's "awkward." But that's not the use case for this mouse. It isn't designed to be used while charging.

Just got a trackpad 2 and the haptic feedback is not working at all. Is this normal? I thought there would be some vibration like force touch on an iphone 6s but I don't feel it at all. Am i doing something wrong here? I have it connected to a MBP at the moment.

and yes, I have haptic feedback enabled within the trackpad settings.

Does it click when you press down on it? That's the haptic feedback working.

oh. thought it would vibrate lol.

feel like i have to press really hard to get the haptic feedback working. even at light settings. maybe it's just something i have to get used to.

Turn it off and feel the difference.

By disabling force click I won't get the secondary click. I wish they had a setting that was lighter than the 'light' click setting.
Try silent clicking. That seems like less feedback to me.

According to this bloke yes they do work on older devices. Only the trackpad needs 4.0 according to Apple's website. The other two are ok with 2.1. The website just says bluetooth for the other 2.

So it seems if you have 2.1 you can use the keyboard and mouse ok, and the trackpad wired.

It seems to work absolutely fine with older Bluetooth as well. I connected it to my 2011 iMac with Bluetooth 3, And it works perfectly both wired and wireless. Maybe battery life isn't good with older Bluetooth? Who knows.

Furthermore, ifixit's teardown confirmed that all 3 devices use the same Bluetooth chipset, so it's not clear why they have differing requirements posted. Bottom line, if you have a Bluetooth Mac with El Capitan, the trackpad should work perfectly.

Like the other person mentioned, there is no actual "click" it is all haptic at work. It feels like you are pushing down on the trackpad but it is haptic making the click feel.

I get a click. That's not the issue. The issue is that I assumed that haptic feedback meant you get a vibration feel after pressing down further like for the iphone 6s 3D touch feature.

They should be pretty much the same. At least they are in my experience. In both cases you get a sort of tap when you press down. It's meant to more or less mimic the feel of pressing down on some sort of physical button.

On my rMBP it just clicks a 2nd time when you press it harder (although we know it's not actually clicking but the haptic motor vibrating again). If you're on something that doesn't support force touch it won't click/vibrate the 2nd time, kind of weird in everyday use.

I bought all three devices and I'm mixed on what I'll end up doing with my purchase. I love the new keyboard even though I do feel it's a bit expensive. It'll definitely be great not to have to change batteries in my keyboard almost two weeks.

The trackpad and mouse are another story. I was never a fan of the previous magic mouse, but I find myself slowly getting used to it. The last time I used a magic mouse it ended up giving me cramping wrist pain. I'm aware this new mouse is near identical, but I haven't ever used one long enough to decide if I'll gets better over time. I have large hands so I assume that's the culprit of my pain.

The trackpad is a pleasure to use, but I do design work. Although I'm used to using the trackpad on my mbp(I hate carrying around a mouse), I can't help but feel that a mouse makes me more productive. I also ran into some issues with dragging files around with the new mouse. For some reason, I just couldn't do it. It kept deselecting the list of files and I ended up just grabbing the mouse. I'm aware for a three finger accessibility option, but it doesn't work well when you have to drag files across the screen.

I'm currently upgrading from a Logitech MX Revolution. It has aged and the batteries aren't that great anymore. I'm debating on snagging the new Logitech MX Master to give that a shot and see how that work before I make any decisions.

I'm definitely keeping the keyboard, but I'm not sure about the trackpad and mouse. While I really like the trackpad, I don't think it's worth spending the money to have two devices on my desk.

I have been using the Magic Keyboard for a couple of hours now and I am really liking it. I really love the key feel.

The only problem is the price. I haven't come up with any valid reasons why this thing is worth 130$CAN + taxes. If I can't justify the price over the next week, I will end up returning it.

I dont get the vibrating feeling you described. I just get another click. So it does vibrate a bit like what you kinda feel using an iphone 6s 3D Touch?

That's the trick, it doesn't feel like it vibrates ... it feels like a click. The click is a vibration, the glass doesn't actually move. Hope that makes sense.

To add to my previous post I think the reason we feel the vibration on the iPhone is because we're holding it in our hands vs the trackpad where it sits on your desk.

I'm definitely in the same boat. It feels like we're moving toward a trackpad being almost mandatory for OS X with the gesture and pressure-based features getting more numerous all the time.

That said, I've never gotten used to a trackpad as my primary input device. It just never seems as precise or as fast to navigate with as a mouse, especially on a big screen (I use a Logitech Performance Mouse MX, currently, although I'm also a big fan of the M570 trackball)
