New MBP 17" delivery dates!

My belief is that you thought wrong. The Unibody 17" MBP antiglare screen is a new screen - not a stockpiled old screen.
 
Apple appears to have taken the money. Based on what others have said Apple doesn't do this until they are almost ready to ship. Lets hope that means it's shipping very soon. I ordered on 2/2...if it ships today/tomorrow I'll be very very happy :).
 
Ah, be happy anyway regardless when it ships...it's a Macbook Pro, right? That's all we need to know.

Regardless, my card company's website is on the fritz by the hour, so knowing when it will ship is in the Lord's hands anyway.

I just looked at their website and their 8GB kit is around $780 which is $120 less than the cheapest I had seen to date. I am going to keep an eye out. I have a feeling by June, 8GB kits will be around $500 or less.

:eek: that's very cool, hopefully by next year (when I plan to upgrade my RAM) it'll be $300!

I seriously need mine as well. This is actually a replacement computer that apple ordered for me after my previous gen 17" MBP failed to be repaired 4 times. The final failure occurred during Christmas break... I've been without a computer for nearly six weeks!
 
Just ordered mine. (From the UK Apple Online Store)

17" MacBook Pro with 2.93GHz & 320GB 7,200RPM Build to Order Options.

Estimate time to ship 7 to 10 days, estimated delivery date 17th of February. I took the British country kit with it (The default on the UK store). Nothing else changed / no software bundles.

EDIT:// Just got my Confirmation Email and it contains a different delivery date estimate:
on or before 18 Feb, 2009 - 24 Feb, 2009

Delay on the Antiglare screen

Schiller mentioned in the Keynote that the antiglare option featured the same screen as in the old 17" MacBook Pro.

That's not what he said. He said the antiglare screen "has the same display properties for antiglare as our last 17" notebook." Go to 01:10:01 in the keynote to listen for yourself.
 
He said the anitglare option is a special option for the very top end consumers i.e. the people prepared to pay for 17 inches, and he also said he personally prefers the glossy.
 
Mine was scheduled to ship on Feb 4th.. my card still has not been charged.. my order status has still not prepared for shipment.. I don't think its going to happen for the next 48 hours. I foresee shipping delays for atleast 1-2 days.. grr!!

I foresee it being worse than that. I'm especially f'ed since I didn't buy straight from Apple.

I do too, im actually starting to think these machines dont even exist. I got the antiglare so I've got a delivery date of Feb 27th, gonna be the longest month of my life.:eek:

Also to the people who think its the old MBP screen on the antiglare, its absolutely not. All he meant in the keynote was that the screen's plastic surface material is the same as the old model to give you an idea of how ANTI the antiglare would be, the tech underneath the plastic is exactly the same as the new mirror screened MBPs.

I donno of I get you right but the antiglare has no "plastic" the antiglare version is as you say the same display but they remove the glass and replace it with an aluminum biezel around it .. thats it .. but there are no plastic. there are no finish on the antiglare version and a plastic surface would be a finish ... every pro wanted a matte and thats what we gonna get ...

Ive ordered a 17 inch antiglare 256 SSD and 2.96ghz cpu in 8 of January thats soon a month ago ...
