Is really interesting that in this forum, so many people yelling for the matte screen, and actually no one had actually bought a 17 MBP with a matte screen?

Lol, I have a feeling many people just when they get to the bto page, they think about the matte but it feels so "old technology" now that the new glass is in, so they decide to check the glossy.
Hehe, honestly after owning the 15" unibody mbp, I love the glossy and I originally loved and only wanted matte.
If the Matte option didn't have that sickly silver bezel that looks completely out of place on the current gen model then I would have gone for the Matte.
All I wanted from Apple was for them to give the option of removing the Glass and putting a Matte finish on the Display. No need to mess around with the bezel and make it look as ugly as sin in the process. There is even a 3rd party company that does this to current 15" and it looks identical to the glossy model (Bezel wise) when completed. I don't see why Apple had to meddle with the design to give a Matte option. Just poor engineering.
Has anyone noticed that the est shipping time for the 17" has gone from 3-4 weeks to 2-3 weeks on the apple store.
Hmmmm.....hopefully this means that there are not 2 many orders and we'll get our UMBP earlier

The black bezel is due to the assembly of the glass which glued into place, it will be quite a disappointment if apple is going to put a painted plastic around the screen for the matte options.

Maxed out everything but I chose 320gb 7200rpm instead of ssd. Hehe, I live in Hong Kong but mine is comin on Feb 14. HK is near to China...

I'm waiting for people's initial feedback regarding the 17" and I would also like to see it in person. I'm one of those people that said: "I will not buy until there is matte option" so I am ready for the purchase but waiting to see if there are no glitches etc. I don't wanna be a guinea pig

I am your guinea pig. Apparently, the matte ships at the end of fed. I ordered mine the friday the week it has been released. Shipping estimate is at 20 FEB

No this means when it came out 2 weeks ago it was 4 weeks for delivery, and now 2 weeks later its only 2 weeks.

The reason I didn't choose one with a matte screen was because of what Schiller said in the Macworld Keynote.
I like the looks of the glass. Coz i got a 15 MBP unibody b4, but i found pou tht reflection of the screen is reli annoying for me, especially with the illuminated keyboard, which most the light is leaked around the keys, and reflected onto the screen.
Thats why i got the matte, and also the color accuracy. I hope i will get mine earlier than apple say
Glossy has higher colour accuracy. However your right light leak from the keyboard is annoying in the dark, but there is a button to turn it off.
If the matte bezel wasn't hideous, I'd buy it.
hah, form over function here for me, totally. but in this case it's just so, so ugly that i'd rather go with the glossy and have something nice to look at. (that actually looks like it's worth the $3k that i paid xD)

Bingo! I've never understood the backlit keyboard; why are you looking at your keys to type?
coz not everyone is good at typing, and not everyone use the keyboard just to type letters and essays. i use the keyboard for commands
My question is whatever did you people do five years ago before there was such thing as a backlit keyboard?
