I ordered the base model on the Jan. 7th through ADC. Mine was shipped and Fedex shows that it should arrive on Wed.
So, ADC should be the same as others, and Apple will email you when it is shipped.

11th of Jan or Feb? Somethings wrong there, I ordered mine on the 19th Jan and just got my shipped status and email 5 mins ago.

My mac pro said a certain time and came in 3 days early!

Phone Apple and ask whats going on, say people who ordered the same laptop after you have already got theirs shipped and you want to know why yours isn't. Also ask for a free Incas bag or something, they usually give in. Did you purchase it on finance or using anything that would require a person to physically enter the order? Because that usually sets you back 7 to 10 days in the queue.

Nope, ordered with Amex on the 11th from ADC store online. If nothing has changed tomorrow morning I will give them a call, maybe the system is slow to update.
 
Ok, for those that ordered (and didn't change anything afterward) around Jan 20-30th, I ordered Jan 22 and still have "not yet shipped" and I can still cancel due to not having that option grayed out yet.

The only mods I had were 7200 and 2.93. I ordered glossy.

My ship date (and no later) is 19th, this week. I expect to have a status change tomorrow or Wednesday.

Frankly, by the time the status changes from not yet shipped, it ships usually within the next 12 hours.

I paid less than you did for the same model even after Tax... I even got 100$ off when apple screwed up on the shipping time. Some people buy directly from Apple since they get hell of a deal discounts from their work or other means so not all people who buy from apple are suckers.

Good point. Can't wait for the first arrivals and pictures. This thread is getting really long. Once the first pictures pop up, this thread will double in size. :p
 
I ordered a 17" Unibody through Apple as a Apple Reseller. Basically all Apple resellers get a small discount off the retail for selling their products and limit it to 1 per year. But I have not heard anything directly from Apple. I wonder if they are delaying it for some higher reason.

Being in Australia I'm doubting i'll get it before you guys (America). Fingers crossed.

I cannot not wait. I ordered the 2.93Ghz chip with the 7200RPM HDD. Also I'm going glossy and I am a graphic designer :p. I prefer the laptop to be structurally strong then having a non reflective screen.

A question; Will the 4Gb RAM be in 2 sticks or 1?

4GB will come in 2 sticks of 2GB each. With 4GB sticks going for $350-$450 a pop, Apple wouldn't put a 4GB stick in unless you ordered 8GB. 8GB upgrades will be around $300 this time next year, I bet.

Your memory will be in two sticks--it is far cheaper that way.

I'd like to know if these machine will support more than 8GB of DDR3.
 
I hate to be a stickler but try to stay on topic.

Most of us check to see if there are new messages (hoping that they are about shipping)

ARgg, so annoying. Not at you per say but the fact that I ordered Jan 11th and mine has not changed. It doesn't' make sense you ordered 20 days after me with modifications and yours is shipped first? Good for you, bad for me. Are they shipping custom orders first, it almost seems that way the way people are posting, everything posted has had some change to it.

I'd call and ask why, someone else mentioned earlier they got held up due to a return or something weird.
 
Has anyone who is getting a new 17 inch unibody as a replacement for an older broken model heard any news about shipping? My order status page has not been updated once since the order for the new MBP went through from Applecare.

It still says, "Ships FEB. 10th". And, of course, it says, "Not yet shipped".

The actual order date says Jan. 20th.

Whenever I call Apple they have no information for me.
