why wednesday night?

Hi. Presumably he expects it to be delivered on Thursday or Friday and knows it will be handed to the carrier by Wednesday night & will therefore appear on the carrier's tracking site by then. I may get an email update by then too I guess?

I got mine today, two whole days ahead of schedule. My original delivery date was March 5, then I called Apple to switch my antiglare option to glossy, and that made my release window March 5-11. When it shipped, FedEx's estimated delivery date was March 4, a full day ahead of Apple's. Then today, the 3rd, at 11am, it came, a full 48 hours ahead of schedule!

I bet you can imagine how pleased I am!

I'm also going on a trip for spring break and leaving the afternoon of the 5th. I was so worried it would come after I left and I wouldn't get to see it. Looks like thats not a problem anymore!

On top of that, my Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter doesn't quite fit my Cintiq display, which was a real bummer. I called Apple up asking for an exchange, stating I'd pay the difference, but since I ordered the adapters with the computer they couldn't exchange them. So instead, the customer service rep just sent me a dual-link DVI adapter for free!

This has probably been one of my best experiences ever. I'm really thrilled haha!

Grumble grumble. Still waiting for my matte. I was hoping it would make it here yesterday but no such luck.

Somehow, I have a bad feeling that they'll try and deliver it just when I'm out of the house, and will therefore miss it.

Damn this waiting is long!

Woo hoo, my mbp is now with TNT, they have got it as far as Northampton as of last night. Fingers crossed for delivery today :)

Excellent - mine has just shipped.

Estimate delivery is the 12th, which is significantly earlier than their 21st estimated at time of order. Impressed, as mine is a custom order.

Going to be a long wait :D

Now it's at London City depot - I can almost see that from here!

Hopefully yours will turn up on 11th latest if mine is anything to go by. The apple site was still saying 6th March till this morning.

Hi guys! I ordered a MPB 17'' with anti-glare option on Feb, 25th and I received today at 08:42 AM (only 5 working days!). Now I´ve got the box at my office, but I´ll wait until afternoon to unbox it, quietly at home... :D

I just ordered a 2.93 Ghz /w matte screen (rest unchanged) from the Swedish Apple store via telephone, using my ADC discount.

Estimated delivery: 23-24 March!

Well, I guess 2-3 weeks is somewhat bearable...

No promises - but I expect that estimated deliver to be much shorter :D. If you read my previous posts, my estimated deliver when I first ordered was around then. It's now been shipped and estimated to be delivered around the 11th or 12th of March.

I've been waiting for a tracking number all morning, hurry up Apple! :p

Mine is downstairs!! As soon as my receptionist is back I'll go and collect it. I think I'm gonna be sending the glossy screen back though :(. I hope I can bear with it.

Well, I cant wait for the resellers to get there stock. My order was placed through Clubmac/Macmall on the 1st of Feb. There order has been bumped back every week since February 18th. They were supposed to get there shipment yesterday, do I have a shipment notification today? No. Now its March 11th or the 17th, take your pick.

So I just ordered from Apple direct. Delivers Mar 12 - Mar 18. At this point I need the computer more than I need the savings. Its just the stock model so they should crank it out quickly.

I'm caving in Apple!

This is exactly what Apple wanted and why there not supplying resellers yet.

Whoever ships first wins. I will just cancel the losing order.

03/03/09 - the day everything changed :)

Well my matte MBP finally landed yesterday (my first mac) and so far everything is beautiful - just in the process of getting bootcamp and VMware set up the hopes that I can do my direct3d development under OSX without too much overhead :D

Did the same thing today. Had an excellent salesman from Apple.

Mine has been delivered early too! Ordered Wednesday of last week with a delivery estimate of March 11. Was delivered this morning to my home. Unfortunately I live on the East Coast and currently in Los Angeles. Won't get home until Thursday evening.

Its gonna kill me to wait!

I do not think it is as conspiratorial as you think. Apple is still attempting to catch up with their own queue. Being one that ordered directly from Apple I'd be very pissed if I thought third party reseller customers were getting the limited stock Apple had before they shipped to Apple's direct customers.

Woop

Mine Arrived this morning, Didnt gett a peek at it until 7pm.

BOY this thing is HUGE (Been on a macbook for the last 2 years)

Currently Migrating Suff Accross, installing vista64, Ill post pics ect later

But this is absolutly not the case. Some of us ordered from resellers over a month ago and are still waiting while people who orders direct last week are already posting how much they love their new machine on here, rubbing salt in my wounds.

As I've said before, fair enough Apple, serve your pre-orders first. But resellers are people too.

That's total BS. The MBP I ordered today is scheduled to ship tomorrow. That's not exactly backed up. IMHO

Apple sticks it to resellers....

I agree, I ordered from a reseller (They placed the order on Jan 6th @ 1:07PM PST) Its a 2.93GHz with 320GB drive, 4GB of RAM, Glossy Display, No iWork, Applecare, etc.. It hasn't even MOVED! I check order status twice a day and for over the last week it just says "Ships 4 business days". I can't stress how disappointed I am with Apple on this. My reseller has went through all channels they can and can't get a firm ship date. They just keep getting told it ships "soon". Well "soon" is relative to what? The end of the universe? I've even called every Apple number I can find, and they can't tell me anything worth a damn.

How is that fair to us that try to support local businesses (resellers) and order through them?

Yeah, I agree. Apple's not getting these to retailers as fast as they should be. If they're selling them in their own stores they should be available everywhere too. I mean, the new Mac desktops are all in stock at the place I ordered from. The 17 umpb isno where to be seen. I was told shipping whould be between today and friday, today I was told next Tuesday. Its like a sick joke. I've been waiting 2 months now and I'm out of patience.

Apple really does not like resellers; with the money and focus they've put into their retail enviroment, reselling is something that Apple would prefer to phase out.

Apple is really big on controlling the relationship with the customer from end to end, and resellers are a middle man they would prefer to do without. The marginal increase in revenue they can provide to a client with added products and support is greater than the revenue that is generated moving the same amount of product through a reseller.

Not saying I agree with that, I'm just calling it how I see it.
