Yeah, I agree. Apple's not getting these to retailers as fast as they should be. If they're selling them in their own stores they should be available everywhere too. I mean, the new Mac desktops are all in stock at the place I ordered from. The 17 umpb isno where to be seen. I was told shipping whould be between today and friday, today I was told next Tuesday. Its like a sick joke. I've been waiting 2 months now and I'm out of patience.

I'm emailing Jobsy now.

Apple really does not like resellers; with the money and focus they've put into their retail enviroment, reselling is something that Apple would prefer to phase out.

Ap

This just is not the case, they continue to expand the number of channel partners while they expand their own store fronts. They do not sell below list or practice predatory pricing and they do not offer rebates through their own outlets while they provide them to their channel partners. This is actually evidence that they value their resellers.

This is a laptop that was delayed nearly a month, just started shipping 13 days ago and people in this forum expect two-months of Apple back-orders to be filled and every distribution channel to be completely stocked. It is amazing the number of posters in this forum that lack any sense of perspective or have even considered the complexities of simultaneous worldwide introduction of a new product.

I Agree that it is pure speculation that Apple is sabotaging it's resellers, and I don't believe that is the case. I does seem, however, that they (Apple) are most definitely not doing everything in their power to keep the resellers happy. I'd like to see how many people have canceled an order through a reseller and placed one via Apple's webstore in order to get the machine a ?few? days in advance, if the guy who's ordering mine wasn't such a champion I know I would.

Anyway, as i'm sure you can imagine a few of us are starting to get frustrated because, as I put in my email to Steve, I placed my order almost a month ago while the guy next to me could place an online order today and get his machine before me. Is that okay in your books?

A little unfair...

With all do respect, I don't think its fair to paint everyone in this forum with a wide brush of ignorance. I completely understand the delay, and how long it takes to fill channels, but lets look at the very true fact that Apple is filling orders from the website taken within the last few days. CTO orders from the site are shipping on average 5-7 days. My order was placed 2 hours after keynote for these things, yet "nothing."

I don't know about your local Apple stores, but mine already have MBP's and report getting almost "daily" shipments. Granted these are stock units and can be cranked out quickly, and in high numbers.

When you look at those two facts, it seems a little odd that NO ONE on this forum has received a MBP ordered from a reseller, regardless of date, or options purchased. (If someone has, please correct me.)

To me, thats screwing the resellers and the people who prefer to use them for whatever reason.

no macbookpro yet, ordered Jan 9

hello macrumors ... long time mac user since IIe currently with G5, however first time poster ...

i ordered macbook pro on apple online website with following:
matte display,
2.93,
350 gig HD
4g Ram

still no computer. the website says "not shipped yet" will ship in 4 business days with delivery dates changing from 2/12, 2/24, 3/6 and now status has changed and pushed back another week to 3/11 ...

apple website now says if you order matte display now, macbook pro ships in 5-7 business days ... what pisses me off is that the matte finish has been discounted by 5 bux and the upgraded hard drive discounted 5 bux and i still have no computer ... just a useless 24 led monitor i use as a paperweight!!

This is combined with the fact that both the iMac and Mac Mini are currently in stock at most resellers right now. They were just announced yesterday, for heaven's sake.

Amazon doesn't even have the 17in in stock yet. This really is insane.

Oh yea, Apple is just swamped and weeks and weeks behind with the 17" unibody.
I'm sure that's why the resellers have been pushed back multiple times.

Oh wait, whats this in my email? My Apple order placed YESTERDAY AFTERNOON HAS SHIPPED ALREADY!

I would say I just proved my point. Apple is NOT backed up, at least for stock models.
There milking as many direct orders for as long they can.:mad::mad:

I agree. I was just talking to a small (but well located) reseller in Ireland and he told me that the word from his supplier is no 17" uni MacBook Pros will ship to resellers in Ireland and maybe Europe before week 11 which is next week but now that was likely to slip to week 13. He already has a long list of people waiting for word when they arrive in store, on one page alone there were 10 people listed with 17" macbookpro written beside them. Thats €25,000 in sales he is stalled on and likely to loose if people have to wait for another 2 weeks. Come on Apple help your resellers out a little while you still have some.

An earlier post (3 or 4 pages back) asked if anyone that ordered through an Apple Reseller has gotten a new 17" mbp. Update? Has anyone gotten anything?

I ask because I ordered mine on Jan 26th, 39 days by my count - which is a far cry from the current "ships in 5-7 business days" on Apple's site. You would think they could take care of us that buy through resellers by shipping to them in the same time frame. I don't know, maybe that is just a preconception I have with good customer service or something like that...

This is my first mac, and so far, I am really pissed off I don't have it in my hands right now. Anyone else out there feel that way?

Ordered from reseller on Jan 6th. (Launch day) Nothing from apple, not even a estimated ship date. See my post a few above this one for more info.

did you get your tracking number from fedex? i got mine. missed the cutoff twice. not sure why it shows picked up status twice in my history. hasn't moved in a day. thought it would come tomorrow, but looks more like monday now. :-(

I just called the Apple reseller line, and talked to a rep that told me that they have been told by the manufacturing and shipping dept. that they will be caught up on reseller shipments for the Uni MBP 17" by the end of this week. He said he couldn't guarantee that, but that is what he has been told.

At least it is something.

You cant really blame apple for not supplying resellers. Its just economics. Sell a MBP to a reseller in bulk and maybe make 2,000 per unit? (just a guess) or sell direct and make full retail.

I'm surprised the resellers don't have some kind of contracted date for shipment. I can see having your shipment pushed mach maybe once, but the reseller I was using was pushed back like five times and expected another push back on the 11th for a shipment on the 17th of March, if there lucky.

My MBP is now on the way (=shipped from reseller to me)... ordered from reseller in the end of january. 2.93, Matte, 7200rpm.

I got told that same line by the same department at the start of last week. So take it for what its worth.

I just called Apple executive support: 408-996-1010 and talked to customer service there. He talked to PCConnection and it seems stock machines are shipping this week from them, but the 2.93 I ordered is what will be in next tuesday. Cross your fingers.

I also told him I was a might bit annoyed at getting the machine so late and that its not the reseller's fault. Boom, free minidp2dvi adapter. Give them a call and tell them you're mad.

Had an order in with a major reseller since January 16. Needed the system for some work my current 6-year-old notebook can't handle last month. The delay has forced me to delay the work (and the $$ that will come from it). Yesterday, my reseller told me they estimate March 16 shipping now, and that I was in the first batch of shipments that would go out. However, they could not state with confidence that this shipping date was solid. I can't afford any more delay than necessary, so I ordered from Apple, which will STILL get me my system fastest.

So, I'm annoyed with Apple, but still have to order from them if I want to be sure I can pay my bills next month. :(

I would like to say, however, that I will be happy when my new MBP arrives, regardless of where it came from.

No - still waiting for my tracking number :( lol

I know it has shipped, and my status pages details that it is in transit, and is still on course for my better than original estimate - I just don't know where it is right now. Order page still says carrier details to come.

thats because you ordered Applecare or an accessory with your machine, such as a bag or adaptor. This adds 5 days to your delivery time because they have to meet up in transit in your home country.
