thats because you ordered Applecare or an accessory with your machine, such as a bag or adaptor. This adds 5 days to your delivery time because they have to meet up in transit in your home country.

Well it's only been less than a day since I got the email saying it has been shipped out, so I'm just going to be more patient. I'm hoping for the tracking details in the morning.

The Apple Care and MBP are already together and both shipped out on the same day, like I said - I've just to be a little bit more patient. Which we all know isn't easy when waiting for an Apple product to arrive ;)

I finally got mine!

Ordered January 10 through APR. Delivered March 4. 53 Days! Three days short of eight weeks.

The ordering (well.. mostly the waiting) was not a pleasant experience, but I'm happy now! My 2.93 GHz 17" monster is fantastic, and the glossy screen is great. Just wishing those Seagate Momentus 7200.4 500GB disks would arrive to sweden anytime soon.

Woohoo!!

Got my tracking number yesterday an watched it fly from Holland to Switzerland. It's in the country now although not sure where, so they might attempt to deliver it today, and wouldn't you know it, I've got a class this afternoon.

So I guess it'll be Monday then. Agh! Damn weekends!

THis would mean that you are one of the first who ordered through a reseller to get yours ! Congrats! maybe mine will arrive in next week then :D

just received mine. From RESELLER as stated above... exact order date was 21 jan... and the comp is matte, 2.93, 7200rpm

I hope that the other fulfilled orders from resellers bodes well for me. I had a dream last night that I got my tracking number....

So I'm guessing by this thread that you can't yet walk into an Apple store and walk out with a new 17" MBP?

I don't really believe you. A nonUS reseller is sending out customized rigs before anyone in the states? I'm not so sure.

Why on earth would I post here just to tease people?? I've got my mac... decided do share this information incase anyone happened to order from cancom also. If someone ordered from there, he's going to be happy to know they are delivering.

...and btw. the world doesn't revolve around U.S.

I have to admit. When I first saw postings of someone that said they received a new 17" from a reseller I thought it was B.S. but I didn't say anything.

I guess you could always prove it with a packing slip, or tracking from the reseller. I just checked there site and there 17" unibody says "one week" and not "in stock"

until I see proof I don't believe it.

Hey, Its TheHoff from POTN!

You can buy in store now, but the resellers are still waiting for stock and its kind of pissing people off like myself that ordered from a reseller over a month ago and are still waiting......well, I'm not waiting anymore because I bought direct.....

heyyyyy whats up :D

I have a 15" Unibody but my wife has an old white G4 and I keep tripping over the power cord. I've already replaced the charger (twice) and the internal charging board (once)... now it is dead again.... so I'm trying to tell her how I need a new 17" MBP and she can have this dusty old 15"... (ok its like a few months old and waaaaay more machine than she needs but hey, she is having Facebook withdrawl already)... then we'll both have Magsafe chargers we can share and I won't have to move my cords around so much either.

Anyway, I'll probably go to the Vancouver store today and check out the 17"...

I ordered it JAN 21st. Ofcourse it says "not in stock" and so on.. If you buy it now, you'll have to wait the order to be filled, and all the orders before that since it is still on back order. Ordering from reseller is pretty much same than ordering from apple. Directly after order, reseller places the order for apple and reseller gets the system from apple (who builds it to the configuration that was ordered).

There's no point in photos, scans etc. People post those all the time and half of the viewers blame them fake etc. I don't need to proove this forum I have the computer... It is actually usable straight out of box.. you don't need to take photos and get approval from every forum member to get it to work. If this ruins your world you can always call the shop and ask them have they already delivered new MBPs

This is my last post about the subject since I actually have thing to do with my MBP

Oh, so your reseller is just buying single units from Apple probably in his or her own name. NOT buying bulk orders in a business name. (cancom) That's different than what were complaining about. Were bitching because Apple wont ship bulk orders to resellers.

Wouldn't it be easier for you just to buy from Apple if your not saving any money?

I bet you're paying a couple hundred bucks more on it, though. Sucks.

The only real up front savings on the system was $5.00 on the price, and no sales tax.

I would have paid the sales tax at the end of this year on my tax return (required by law in my state, although few seem to know or care), because I want to keep my business on the up-and-up, and the mistake would likely end up costing me much more in the event of an audit.

So, I essentially am paying only 5 bucks more to get it from Apple, and after this experience have learned that if I can't afford to wait for a newly released Apple Product, I should order directly from Apple.

The very fact that this is the case, however, I am mostly upset at Apple about, so I will make sure to buy previously released products from a reseller. to show my displeasure with some of Apple's Business Practices.

Thought I'd add my order information to the mix:

Order Date: 04 March 2009
Config: 17" MacBook Pro, 2.93 GHz, 320(7200) HD, 4 GB RAM
Ships: 5-7
Delivery Est. 12-18

These are the rough initial estimates, of course. I asked for 2-day shipping, so if the ship date is 5-7 days from order date, I could have it by next Friday (March 13).

MacBook Pro 17" Matte

The matte screens are sold out across southern California. It makes you wonder why they don't make matte for 15" and the rest of the lineup.

The glare is intense on the glossies if you are sitting in a classroom or office with overhead lights. The matte screen edition has a black rim that distinguishes it from the previous 17" model (this, I think, is more for user satisfaction and show than function).

In any case, I am having some Migration Assistant challenges. When I migrate and there is an error, I enter into the newly-booted OS X and half my HD is gone (from the migration) but there is no presence of the (failed) migration files. Any ideas on how I can find these or kill that ghost 'partition' ?

Don't know if that was aimed at me, but it's always fun to share some pictures. As for the reseller thing, you'll have to trust me on that one. I have my invoice here, but I'm too lazy to scan and upload it for you. Ordered mine from DS Store (yeah, good name for a mac reseller!) in Norrköping, Sweden.

From left to right: 17" MBP unibody (glossy, 2.93 GHz), 1st gen MBA (1.6 GHz, HDD) and an PB G4 12" (1,33 GHz)

As you can see I'm a "Mac guy" (although there's an Acer laptop under the MBP box). My cat though.. she's more of an Ubuntu girl:

Also, here's a link to the desktop wallpaper the MBA uses, in case anyone's interested: http://www.flickr.com/photos/zanoii/3324806633/in/set-72157603731292793/. (And no, there's nothing wrong with the screen, it's running iCalViewer.)

I think its dead !! No way to fix it. Suggest you order a new laptop and wait the 6~8 weeks again ;-)

No promises - but I expect that estimated deliver to be much shorter :D. If you read my previous posts, my estimated deliver when I first ordered was around then. It's now been shipped and estimated to be delivered around the 11th or 12th of March.

Well, you were right.

Order Date: 4 March
Original Estimate: 23 March
Shipped: 7 March
Arrives: 9 March (TODAY )

I just came back from a short weekend trip and was positively surprised that it is out for delivery :D Only two days from China, that's FAST!!! It's the matte version, too!!!
