Argh.

:( :( :(

After waiting all summer to order, and then 3 weeks for it to arrive, I finally opened My 2.2. Glossy. As soon as i turned it on and the gray screen came up, I could see that the bottom of the screen looked like piss. I calibrated it first thing, but it didn't help. Now I have to wait another 3 weeks to get a new one... Worst day ever.. :( :(

BTW, how do I tell what type of screen I have? If it is samsung, I am going to go to their headquarters and personally strangle whoever runs that company. Also, I have a few choice words for SJ for using these crappy panels and not even testing them out of the factory when it is so obvious.

apple is not on my good side today.

I got mine the other day from the local Apple Store and it's flawless.:) I have a build week of 35, but I'm not sure if that means much. I had to get my girlfriend to calibrate the screen, though, as I'm myopic.:D

i feel for you man, i;ve been wating ages for mine as well, same spec, it seems like most 2.2 glossy's use the samsung pannels. if i get one i think im just gonna ask for my money back, i have absolutly no respect for a company that lets **** products out of there factory. what makes it even worse is that these things cost a hell of a lot of money, and much cheaper laptops seem to be fine.

Ok, I have a samsung screen. Screw them. I already got screwed by them about a month ago, but I don't want to go into that...

I have a quick question. I ordered online but through the AppleStore/MyUniversity site (or whatever it's called, it had the name of my college at the top, but it looked like the apple store site). This is so I could get my student discount. However, if i get this replaced, will I still have to send it back through the mail as if I ordered it from the normal apple store?

Oh yeah, and I just noticed the screen is bent so when I close the MBP it wobbles. Man, I really struck out... I better be careful for the next few days because I have really bad luck.

yeah, it's yellow too, read my post above.

It's a Week 37 2.2Ghz Glossy Stock MBP. The yellowing is really serious at the bottom. Also, the screen is bent considerably. Why couldn't they just have 1 guy looking at all these as they came of the line and made sure the screen wasn't sticking up from the case 5mm? Also, I noticed the yellow the second I turned it on. Couldn't somebody check that too? soooooo angry.

One question. I still need to get my rebates for my ipod and printer. there is a 30 day time limit on the rebate (which started a week ago. If i send for a replacement, do i need to use the upc from the replacement? what if the time limit expires???

Got mine about 3 weeks ago...no yellowing at all. Sorry to everyone who is having problems...I would be so pissed if I did. Good luck

Oh yeah, and after looking more carefully at my stupid samsung screen, it is incredibly grainy. so i have it all: severe yellow, grainy, and bent. great. i knew i shouldn't have decided to switch to apple...

I have a samsung screen too, I dont notice any yellowing, though I noticed something funky going on during the initial bootup. Also, I do notice the wobbling too, there is a gap after it closes. I take it this is not a normal occurance right?

Ok, I called AppleCare and I told the woman there that my screen had a very yellow tinge at the bottom. She asked me if I was looking at it straight on or from an angle, and that was about it. Then she said Apple knew about the issue and it was an established issue. She said I could either send it for repair, or get a replacement. I said I wanted a replacement so she transfered me to sales. But sales said I needed a case number, which she didn't give me. Soooo, I got transfered back to support again and the new person asked me a whole bunch of questions and told me to remove my battery and stuff. After a lot of horrible hold music, and lots of transfers, I am finally in line for a replacement. Anyone know how long it will take to get it?

My MPB 2.2/matte/160 GB finally showed up, after nearly a month's wait. It's a week 36, LG screen (9C67). No yellowing, although in the test photo the bottom test rectangle appears to be a bit darker than the top rectangle. The screen is so much brighter and more color-accurate than my old 15" Powerbook (1.5 GHz, 2004-vintage), it's not even funny. I feel like I dodged a bullet.

I take it from everything I've read on this subject that if your screen has yellowing, it's pretty obvious from the start.

I have a week 35 Samsung screen. If I open two TextEdit windows---one at the top of the screen and one at the bottom---I would say that the white is NOT exactly, truly, undoubtedly, 100% identical between the two windows. The bottom white seems a little less pure, but I wouldn't really call it yellow. If I set a solid white or light grey desktop background, I no longer see any difference from top to bottom (except for shadows caused by lighting and viewing angle).

I've asked six other people what they think, and every single one of them just sees white on top and white on bottom. If I ask them if the whites are the "same" white, they all say yes. (They also remind me that there are many good medications on the market today.)

Can a refurb be exchanged if it has the yellow issue?

I was planning on buying a 15" MBP refurb, but this yellow issue thing has me nervous. I gather that if you buy NEW, you can always send it back for a replacement until you get one thats okay... but if its a REFURB you are stuck, (ie, it would take a more serious issue than that to warrant some sort of exchange by Apple? )

1st post!

dont know how to tell what kind of screen i have (LG or samsung), but i do know that it is clear with no yellowing whatsoever!

2.2Ghz matte, everything stock.

I got mine today and it had no defects.
17" hi def matte screen / 2.4 ghz / 160 7200 hd / 2 g ram.
How do you tell what build week or screen type it is?

Hey All!! I received my 2.2 stock MBP today!!!:D Awesome, beautiful machine! My very first Mac! I am proud.

Anyhow, mine is a Week 36 and it is a Glossy LG (9C67) LCD with no yellowing at all. I see pure whites from top to bottom. I'm pumped because this was my biggest worry during the 2 1/2 week wait.

My screen lid is also straight aligned with no gaps when closed. So there are some well made Macs continuing to come out of the assembly line. Those awaiting arrival....keep you chin and excitement level up!

That's my report. Have a Mac Day!:D
