New MBP Owners (since 8/13/07), Do You Have The Bottom 3rd Yellowing Issue?

hmmm after reading all these stories I am DEFINITELY canceling my order i placed last night......the LAST thing I feel like doing is ***** around with apple support on this.......very angry:(:(:(:(

ugh.

Just got my macbook pro today, I really love it - my first mac!

Bad news.. it has the yellowing issue.

Serial starts with W8744 - so a week 44?
SwitchResX says my LCD is a 9C6D. Is that a Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) LCD? The yellowing seems to be confined to the bottom fifth or so, and isn't so bad I notice it except when there is a solid color extending down there (grey).

Using the "2 white boxes" text reveals something arguably even worse than the yellowing, that the bottom box is very noticably dimmer than the top box.

I have done a simple monitor calibration and it didn't help anything, I'll post back to this thread after a more advanced calibration, and maybe with some pictures of it. I would demand a repair or replacement, but I REALLY need to start getting some work done using the mac right away. This problem is SO frustrating I am pretty angry with Apple.

One other off topic question though.. with SwitchResX, when I go to uninstall does it matter if I use the default way compared to using appzapper? Thanks!

I got my MBP last week. Purchased the night that Leopard was released and received it a few days later.

The colour on my screen is absolutely brilliant. not a single problem at all. no yellowing. no case warpage. nothing. Its perfect.

Just wanted to put my $0.02 in here to show that Apple does produce perfect machines, the only difference is that for the most part, the people who receive a perfect machine don't bother to post that in these forums. they're happy. Its the people who get less-than-perfect machines that make their voices heard (and rightfully so might I add).

Apple has been around a while, and they're a solid company. Its a pretty safe bet that they didn't build themselves up like that by selling machines where the majority of them were dysfunctional or low-quality.

Yeah - People who have problems are MUCH more likely to post here than people who don't. For every person with a screwed up screen, there are undoubtedly thousands without.

But remember - It could still happen to you... :(

I understand what you are saying but it is completely unacceptable that people are still receiving screens with these problems. I remember these issues back in the beginnng of summer but I assumed they had been resolved. I will check by a few apple stores around me and test their mb pros to see how bad this is before i call and cancel my order. Like i said the last thing i need right now is to buy a new apple computer and find this screen issue, it will drive me nuts.

I received a refurbished 15" 2.4GHZ MBP a little over a week ago, and it has the 9C67 panel (that's LG, right?). The dump from SwitchResX says it was manufactured "Week 0 of year 2007." Is that really possible with these? I haven't noticed anyone else having a panel from week 0. I'm reasonably happy with the screen. The bottom isn't yellow when I look at it straight on. It just seems ever so slightly duller, or a little less bright.

I agree completely. The fact that this issue is still occurring is fully and completely unacceptable. I just wanted potential switchers out there to know that these problems don't happen on every single machine to come out of :apple:. I got worried myself when I was looking through these forums before purchasing. I figured I'd roll the dice anyways and ordered one (needed a laptop anyways).

Oh, and in case anyone is curious, I've got a LG screen I believe, though I'm unsure how to check the week of it.

Mine had the slight yellow band on the bottom, but I calibrated the heck out of it and now I can't even see the slightest tinge, even on a all white background.

I had a chance to talk to the tier-2 agent last Friday. At least from what he told me, Apple noticed the yellowish problem 2 months ago and is working on a SOLUTION. Yes, the ultimate solution - replacing your machine till you are lucky enough to get a perfect one. What a f***! I am to get my 5th replacement and there is no sign of luck at the moment.

Yeah that is why I cut my losses and just calibrated my yellow number 2, I hated the thought of having to do the exchange process over and over again

So your first was a CM panel that was bad yellow, and now the 2nd is still yellow, but a better Samsung?

first was a Chi Mei Opt and it had uneven backlight yellow tinge and backlight bleed. The Samsung out of the box had a 1/3 yellow tint...but after calibration it is next to impossible to see and trust me I"m looking. The Samsung has rich colors, no sparkle or distortion and a very even backlight. I'm pretty happy with it now that I've played with it a bit.

No yellowing in mine, screen is perfect no deal pixel nothing. It closes perfectly and I do not regret going to :apple:. I have plenty of updates to do though but it`s all good.

I'm having a hard time getting mine replaced by Apple. I got it on Monday, it has dead pixels and a yellow screen. So far I've been on the line with them for 3 hours plus and still no resolution.

Okay a quick update - just got home from one of the local apple stores. Got a very nice genius who saw the problem immediately, and will replace the screen as soon as they get the part in to the store. In the meantime, I can keep the laptop which is very important to my busy schedule :)

Of course it also helps that my MBP has a very noticeable version of the problem on a 9C6D CM panel.

Here is a photo of it:

Hi
You have more yellowing issue that my mbp, but can someone put a pictures of LED MBP with NO yellow issue plzz.
Thanks

What's most telling about that pic is the darkness towards
the bottom, that uneven backlighting is what causes
the bottom to appear more yellow I think.

My 1st samsung looked sort of like that, but not as dark.
The samsung I have now does not - it has very even
backlighting from top to bottom.

I am not blessed at all. Just received another MBP replacement directly from Apple executive relations, unfortunately, it is still YELLOWISH! What am I going to do?
