Still happy with my LG (9c67) screen three days into owning it.

I do think there's a general issue here and it's probably more due to uneven backlighting. ie. teething trouble with LED-backlighting perhaps.

i'm glad your MBP isn't as bad as the others.. :)

i just want to ask, do you experience any of the bugs of leopard in your MBP? i'm not sure if this is the right thread to ask, but il try anyway :) your MBP came with leopard pre-installed, right?

Oh it was. I've had two new Samsung screens before I got my LG.

No Leopard yet. As I say I've had this machine two months or so already. In general I wouldn't touch a new Apple OS until x.x.2.

oops, sorry! :) thanks for answering anyway :D

Yeah I gave up, I'm returning my Pro and getting a Blackbook. 2 faulty screens was enough for me.

Yeah I thought about the 17inch, but the 15 inch was almost too big for me to manage. Bad thing about being petite, limited lap space.

Second laptop in a row went back. The first one had a defective GPU diode or something (the screen went bonkers when I charged the machine), and the problem occurred too early for me to notice any yellow tint.

The second one looked superb and behaved normally until the first ostensibly white window: The tint was glaring!

I returned that one too and, until today, I was expecting a third machine. But I finally reckoned that a computer purchase doesn't deserve to be a stress-inducing experience, so I called Apple and got a refund.

I am tempted to opt for a Blackbook and upgrade memory and hard disk, but I will wait until Apple gets serious about quality control. Apple customer service is truly exceptional, but sadly it is also the best that the company can now offer.

I gave up too. Buying a computer, especially a pricey one, shouldn't be a lottery.

After all these months I can't believe they still have this problem??!!! This obvious and glaring problem should have been dealt with by Apple by now. Right, buying something this expensive should not be such a gamble.

Hi guys,

Can you guys help me out and determine if I have the bottom 1/3 yellow screen? I can't tell. The first picture looks like it does.

It's a LG screen by the way.

Well.. I just conducted the same test as shown on this video with Photoshop CS3:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syrZvxNW0to

It seems all right. It guessed the colours correctly as I zoomed the image and made sure it was at the bottom of the screen.

Still not sure if that's a 100% confirmation of a non yellow screen. Hope so. D:

I had three MBP SR 15" in a roll. ALL of them are yellowish and gave me headache no matter how hard I tried to calibrate the screen. Maybe I am allergic to LED? Anyway, I am to get a MBP SR 17" and hope that all my problems are gone.

Just got a week 37 samsung. I dont see much yellow, but the bottom 1/3 does look slightly dimmer than the top 1/3. No other issues so far... I guess I will just keep it.

You probably won't notice the yellowish issue if you don't use white background. Unfortunately, I spend most of time working with latex and various IDEs. Pity... :(

I used the "two white boxes" images in the first post to check, can't see any signs of yellow but it's slightly dimmer. Actually I can't really notice it when I browse white background webpages... so I guess I am all set.

If that is the case, then I believe that you have a screen which is acceptable to me. I wish that I would be as lucky as you are, man!

I just called Apple Support about my Yellow Glossy Samsung Week 44 display and have opted to get it repaired instead. There is an authorised repair shop close to my area (there is no Apple store in my area), and what they do is diagnose the problem, order the part from Apple and then call you in to do the actual repair. There is no sending in my computer somewhere for weeks on end to get it replaced.

Let's just hope Apple sends a good display instead of another crap one! :(

Well, I decided to go get my LG screen replaced too. I had one guy at a computer store look at it and he said he could notice yellows.

Taking it to the authorized Apple repair guys over here in Montreal. Fingers cross that they approve, replace and repair it properly!

Edit: I can really notice the yellows when booting up the computer. The grey screen displayed has a distinct yellow shade in the bottom 1/3 of the left hand corner of my screen.

Why not just try for a replacement?

Why not just try for a replacement?

This is my 2nd MBP, and I basically would have to ship this one back (I would guesstimate 2 weeks) and then once verified they will need to ship another back (another 2 weeks) = 1 month of waiting without a computer with my $2300 tied up.

Whether or not I get a good screen from the replacement is a crap shoot, so I'd rather just be out a day or two to get mine fixed instead of rolling the dice with a new one only to have the same disappointment.
