I went to the apple store (Suburban Square, PA) today to show my screen to a "Genius" guy. He took a look at it and agreed that the screen is abit yellow at the bottom and pale. He took the MBP in tha back room for couple of minutes, and when he came back he told me let's do the comparison with the display models. Thay had like four 15" models on the floor, all of them LG (2 glossies and 2 mattes.) I was surprised ... all of them had the same problem, and one of them was even worse !! then he came to a conclusion that this is within all macbook pros :D and he told me yours is fine, it's just them.

He also told me even the previous models were a bit darker at the bottom.

that's it ... case closed for me :D if there is a problem ... the solution is never bring anything white near the dock, I want to enjoy my new MBP ... LOVE :apple:

What would you do if you were in his situation? There aren't any in stock, and why waste the small stock that will be arriving in the future trying to change out a screen with a little problem? Of course! Trick the customer into thinking that they all have the problem, and all of the new ones will too, so there's nothing we can do about it.

I think you got hosed.

That's true ... I thought so, but i don't have time to go back and forth again, and my classes will start shortly so I decided to kinda fool myself :D besides, mine is not that bad.
I don't see any revision coming for the screens, only few people are seeing this problem (only those who have read this forum :D ) I,personaly, would never ever notice it if I didn't read about it here.

Im planning on ordering a macbook pro later this week- I NEED one, a notebook that is.... if I get it customized am I screwed with regards to returns if I get a defective yellow screen or can I return it online? Any help would be great thanks :)

Week 35 LG Screen. No yellowing. YAY! :)

The lid closes properly too. Definitely a keeper.

One thing i have noticed is that with this screen the default profile is a lot whiter than the other machine with the Samsung screen. I could get the samsung white but still with the lower 1/3 issue.

Sounds like you and i got the same machine could not believe how white it was when i started her up.....Congrats :)

Congrats! I hope they really sorted out the issues as I m returning my MBP and getting a refund. I wonder if you can take some pictures of the screen and show us?

I will probably be buying a new MBP as soon as I get my mony.

I ended up not getting a custom due to being able to return it at a store i dont WAIT well :)

I received my replacement 2.4Ghz MBP C2D for my dead 2.16 MBP CD from Apple about two weeks ago, and I don't have an issue of the yellowing screen (thank goodness...). It closes properly with an even gap between the top and bottom sections.
 
I have a week 31 Samsung, but it is only slightly different on the bottom 1/3. I am keeping it - it took me forever to find my 2.4 (and I wasn't waiting till the semester started). I am :) - just as long as it doesn't get darker on the bottom.

3- Latch very noisy when unlocking and need to press hard to get it unlocked (if i push the button without holding the laptop it slides on my desk)
4- DVD does not run when it runs on my windows PC. The DVD inserted i can hear it but nothing happens and it gets ejected after a few sec.

Please give me you thoughts? If you were me would you keep or exchange?

Also it maybe a question of habits but the KB has not delete function (only backspace). Not page up/down and home/end individual keys (need to hold the apple key).

Is this the right way round? Mine has got Delete but no Backspace. I don't actually know but it could be an international thing. I bought mine in the US. But I know what you mean about habit, I do miss the backspace from a full size keyboard as I use it all the time and I was going to get a wireless keyboard but the new Apple ones aren't full size anyway. I might just have to plug in my functional but crumby (literally) old Apple keyboard from my G4 Quicksilver when I'm at my desk and slum it the rest of the time.

BTW I'd exchange if I were you just because that lid isn't right.
 
Queshy, hen you open the the test pic dont you notice the bottom square more yellow that the top one???

not at all. but try doing it with the white test picture, that usually makes it easier to recognize.

I don't notice it either- but is very hard to tell because the photo is over exposed and grainy. The top square looks more over exposed than the bottom, only slightly, but not yellow. If you want to show it off better, you need to mess with the metering/exposure on your camera.

However, what does it matter? You've got one that doesn't shut right, superdrive problem, and latch problem. Its not like you have a perfect machine with a light hue. Take it back and get it over with. Don't worry about a yellow screen when there are more important issues with your laptop. You should have no problem exchanging it for another one.

i have a question guys, i ordered my machine last week, yet on my order number its says 32 in the second 2 digits, does this mean its gonna be a week 32? do they only do them in batches every few weeks, and not every week? or is the prder number nothing to do with the actual laptop serial number?

I think the 32 in your order number has nothing to do with the build week...You should not worry about this.
 
I have a week 30 MacBook Pro, which I got from Best Buy. It has a Samsung Screen. There may be some yellowing, using the gray test photo, if you look at it at an upright angle, but that would be odd in most situations.
