Or, if you know your wife's login credentials, you can find her in a shopping centre if she gets lost. *Or*, if you're paranoid, track her wherever she goes to make sure her story checks out.

EDIT: I read that back and it seemed a bit snarky, which wasn't my intention. Just imagining the possibilities...

That works both ways, doesn't it? She can track me as well!

Accessing Account options?

I have MM and like it. Used to be, you could access the Account options from the toolbar. Apple seems to have taken that away. Now, the only way I can find to access Account is through System Preferences>MobileMe>Account>Account Details.
Is this correct?

Post that is! Was really looking forward to free MobileMe across all Apple devices. Is that too much to ask?!

Long time reader.

Fail ''first'' post is fail.

Anywho.. Its a great service to be honest but I still cant justify paying 99 dolars (even more if you live in Europe) to that. I even have the @mac.com e-mail address and I loved it in the first year I used, but still..

IMHO, Apple should take out some of its features (like iDisk f.e.) and make it free, and use those features to create a ''Pro'' version which they can sell for 99$/year.

Hm, you can't tell if someone used the locations service to find you from the locations system preferences in iOS 4. I thought that was the point of the new fancy locations preferences panel.

All the way to the right on the toolbar you should see a dropdown with your account name. Click on that and choose "Account" (unless you are already on the Account page, in which case that choice does not appear).

It is no longer in the webapp switcher. You have to click your name in the upper right hand corner, like in iTunes.

WTH Apple! Less is not always better, bring back the app icons across the top.

To switch between apps was one mouse move, one click, one mouse move.

Now, it's one mouse move, one click, one mouse move, one click, one mouse move. How the hell is that better.

Agreed!

+1

New app switcher is ****. bring back the old way. not every thing can be turned into a iPad haha....

but i must say the new login page is nice AND with calendar getting a update https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/941071/ me.com can still be good!

Apple can release this 'Find My iPhone' app for both iPhone and iPad platforms but can't do the same for the 'Apple Store' app? Ugh... Is it so wrong to want the iPad to be treated as an equal to the iPhone?

Kind of scratched my head at that the other day, too. Thought that it was weird that the Apple store app wasn't universal for the iPad. Then the light bulb came on, and I realized that the browser on the iPad is just fine for visiting and using the Apple store. In fact, I quite easily bought something from the Apple store on my iPad a few weeks ago. Duh!

Disappointed.

I have had all three iPhones and am contemplating the fourth, but I have been waiting the whole time for mobile me to seem worth the yearly cost and it is still not there. What would make it worth the cost to me? Make it so that I can save ANY attachment to an email direcly from my iPhone or iPad to my iDisk. That would make it worth it. As it stands, I can buy a lot more storage space from google for half of the price and all of their synching services are free. I have been a mobile me customer the whole time, but I have always felt that I was overpaying for what I am getting.

I just hope that there is a verizon announcement sometime soon. I have suffered through AT&T's network, I bought a 3G iPad and had the data plan shaken up within one month of the purchase as a sort of thank you, I guess. I love the phone, but if it stays exclusive to AT&T I am going to have to leave because the margin of things that make it worth being on AT&T has rapidly decreased, and this mobile me upgrade does nothing to change that. Also, i do not use an email address for which I have to pay when I know how unlikely it is that I will pay for it indefinitely.

Composing Email

So here is my issue. With the new window pop-out upon composing an email, the text doesn't wrap and continues across the page, extending the navigation bar forever. Please fix that, Apple!

Can't wait for the new iPhone!

dont get it

For everyone saying they use this to check on their wives, or vice-versa, if they have their phones on them, can't you just call them? And if you don't want them to know you are spying on them, maybe you shouldn't be.

If you wife was cheating on you and you think this app will help you track her, can't it also let her know when you are coming home so she can kick the refrigerator repair man out of bed before you get home?

This is a problem. An email needs to have letter structure, this ongoing one line problem needs to be fixed!

Thanks JonB3Z and NAG! :)
Doh! I have probably seen it there a hundred times. Just used to clicking on the icon I guess.

Archive in Mail.app?

The archive button seems to be a pretty big step forward for Apple (catch-up step that is), but isn't it sort of pointless if they don't build an archive button into OS X's Mail.app or Mail on the iOS? Pre-iPhone, I used the .Mac site to get email all the time, but it's rare that I ever go on there nowadays. It's much more likely I'll be on my phone/pad/Mac.

Perhaps the reported Archive button for Gmail in iOS4 will work with MobileMe too; but I'd hate to loose the ability to delete in order to gain archiving.

I brought this up during the beta, where it got no response, and am again surprised that no one is mentioning it.

People need to stop complaining about it not being free, its only $30 for 1 year on ebay which is really cheap! for a great service.

yeah but u dont get the full disk space, as your using on the family accounts

Are you sure about this? Mine always seem to wrap for me just fine. And with the new hypertext tool in composing, I would guess that would shorten a hypertext to a more manageable length, but I haven't tried it yet.

Login problem

I was unable to login today in after the Mobile me update - after trail and error I discovered the new portal wont accept the format of my password - I've had to change non-alphabetical/numerical characters in the original password to be able to now login - and in the process have had to update every aspect of my account - mail, itunes etc.

Have I missed an announcement about acceptable password characters in the new web portable & mobile me accounts?

Given the advantage of adding a non-alphabetical/numerical character in making a password more secure I am disappointed if this is a permanent situation.

Anyone else had a login problem?

The application switcher is horrible. The only reason I knew it was the application switcher was because I spent 15 minutes trying to find a way to exit mail during the beta.

I can't believe this UI design made it into the final version. More proof Apple doesn't get the cloud.

Actually, the new task-switcher is damned good!

Before you all start to flame me, take a look at the support notes on Apple's website and the entire thing can be used with a few key-strokes.

Shift-Esc brings up the task switcher from any me.com app except the login screen to Find my Phone. To move between the various "apps" simply use the arrow keys.

Mobileme bavkup

In the idisk there is a file called "mobilemebackup3.2.dmg" under the software directory. Is this new?

I'll have to download and check it out.

Just opened it - it's the old backup program from the time before time machine. But the name "mobilemebackup" seemed strange.

ten-oak-druid,

That's Apple's Backup program. I think it's a bit under-rated. I use it daily to automagically back up selected folders and files to my iDisk.

I also recently used it to migrate my iTunes library and Mail from my existing iMac to my new MBP. Everything migrated perfectly and it was all done very quickly.

Well worth a download and look-see :D

Is the new "Find my i___" portion of the redesigned mobileme not working for anyone else? I logged in, and for gits and shiggles, I tried to find my iPod touch. No dice. Hope it's just a temporary bug.
