Fix Idisk Please

How about a universal iDisk app!

Fail ''first'' post is fail.

Anywho.. Its a great service to be honest but I still cant justify paying 99 dolars (even more if you live in Europe) to that. I even have the @mac.com e-mail address and I loved it in the first year I used, but still..

IMHO, Apple should take out some of its features (like iDisk f.e.) and make it free, and use those features to create a ''Pro'' version which they can sell for 99$/year.

ten-oak-druid,

That's Apple's Backup program. I think it's a bit under-rated. I use it daily to automagically back up selected folders and files to my iDisk.

I also recently used it to migrate my iTunes library and Mail from my existing iMac to my new MBP. Everything migrated perfectly and it was all done very quickly.

Well worth a download and look-see :D

Hey guys I'll be e-mailing Steve asking him when he is going to update me (iDisk), I think it's looooong overdue as well. Don't get me started on my iPhone apps functionality (or lack there of).......anyways mobile me overall is slowly coming up to pace, I still would argue that the pricing is needed, that would force apple to give people bang for the buck quality, also don't forget apple is still working on iWork.com expect a web version of the iLife apps in 2011 4th quarter.

Well I like the new design very much and of course the app-switcher is designed to look like ALT-TAB in OSX, so that makes sense, but indeed it's a little cumbersome.

I was amazed by the performance - resizing photos for instance in the gallery is instant, I mean it feel like it's the OS of the PC as opposed to a web solution.

And that seems to be the drift here, they've made it look a lot more like OSX and they've made it as performant as hell. All in HTML5 too of course - I'm working with some web designers here and they assumed it was Flash and all got very excited when they saw it wasn't.

Umm... the options (gear) menu in the email app does not function... at all... in Safari?!?!?! WTF?!

[Edit] Oops. I relaunched and now it works. There's a bug of some kind there though. It was not working at all.

For the price, I rather just get insurance on the phone. I get my phone replaced and don't have to confront a potentionally dangerous person. The cost to value on all the features don't justify the great idea that all these services offer, in my opinion. Make it $20-$30 a year and you'll see subscriptions to this service sky-rocket.

Is the new "Find my i___" portion of the redesigned mobileme not working for anyone else? I logged in, and for gits and shiggles, I tried to find my iPod touch. No dice. Hope it's just a temporary bug.

Mine just sits on "locating" and never does anything else. does it for my iPhone and iPad.

Apple can release this 'Find My iPhone' app for both iPhone and iPad platforms but can't do the same for the 'Apple Store' app? Ugh... Is it so wrong to want the iPad to be treated as an equal to the iPhone?

You will likely NEVER see the Apple Store app for iPad.

Why? Because the Apple Store WEBSITE works beautifully on the iPad. Most apps that replace a website (bank apps, etc.) do so because navigating a website designed for a large screen is a hassle on an iPhone. Navigating the Apple.com site on an iPhone is a real challenge on such a small screen. Buy with my iPad it is a breeze to take in the whole webpage in a glance and use it as effectively as I do on a large Mac or PC.

So why would you see an app?

Omg 100$ a year is an insane amount to pay, these services should all be free to use. I really dont get it Apple must make a lot of money from idiots willing to pay for this garbage.

Want iPad support!

I'm disappointed as I had one simple expectation: That www.me.com actually works on the iPad. What gives? When is that going to happen?

Great, so now I have further to move the mouse when switching applications and have to perform 2 clicks instead of one.

All but Mail look the same to me and the speed is still too slow. What's the fuss about?

Why oh why is it always cited as for fining 'lost' iPhones? It is great for tracking family or friends when needed. Verizon even hype that use for one of their hand sets yet all Apple sites harp on about is 'lost' iPhones .

Firstly; it is for more than just finding a lost iPhone, what about tracking your family member? Secondly; I suspect Apple will make Mobile me free soon. I could be wrong on 2.

I agree, flicking through photos in an album in the gallery section is instant! I hope they translate this to the actual public galleries. I just checked and they are still pretty slow. The galleries are my favourite part of mobile me so if they can make them as snappy as in the admin section I will be a happy man.

Security hole

If you open up inspector element after you login.

and under resources find authenticate... you will be able to see a user username AND password!

If you don't like it, don't buy it. It's that easy. There's no need to insult people who make a different decision than you.

Have you already submitted that to Apple?

This was a disappointing update. My first thought when I went in was where was all my other functions like iCal and iDisk. Too bad there isn't anything more to MobileMe. It feels like something is missing with it.

I liked the original idea of it when it was free and they implied how it was going to grow. .Dot Mac I think it was called.

I personally thinkt the $99 is quite reasonable for a service that works and has worked flawlessly, is well designed (besides the switcher), contains ample storage space, and is well integrated into the hardware ecosystem of Apple.

I looked at gmail and google calendar etc, but these services don´t even come close imo. The time I have lost configuring and troubleshooting those services is well worth the relatively small fee for the MobileMe service that basically configures itself on all my Apple devices.

It could be a bit cheaper, but value costs money. If you want free, you can go to google and have badly designed services with no customer support.

Amen to that! I've no problem spending the $140 per year (I have several extra e-mail accounts) for it. The fact that everything just syncs between my iPhone, my Mac(s) and MobileMe is worth every penny.

I've been using the MobileMe Mail beta for a few weeks, and I'm used to most of it now. Tha app switcher doesn't bother me in the least. Since the Mail Beta, it's always been two clicks to get from Mail to another part.

Also I noticed that I can now use ALL of my groups in my contacts to send mail from MobileMe web! That has been sorely missed. I only hope that will also work on iPhone 4 next week...

I've been using MobileMe since way back when it was iTools

Mobile Me annual subscription: $99
Having a .MAC e-mail address: Priceless...

All these services cost money to provide. Google doesn't charge for them, because Google's business model is to provide services supported by ad revenue. Mobile Me doesn't have any Ads,so the cost of maintaining the system has to come from someplace.

(dot)Mac was the first pay incarnation. iTools was the original free version.

I just looked at my log-in from within the Inspector found under the "Develop" menu of Safari. Didn't find what you show here. Maybe I'm missing it? I hope Apple fixes that regardless!

EDIT: I found it on a quicker look through the resources as the page loaded. It is there, and then gone. But still there briefly!
