I am running into an interesting and perplexing issue with the new Music App. I do not use Apple Music and have it turned off. Under the "My Music" tab when you click the red pull down to select Artists, Albums, etc, I have the show iTunes purchases set to off. The problem is, they're still showing..(sometimes). I haven't changed any settings, all of a sudden, there they are. If I close out the app on the app switcher and reopen it, they're gone. Then they'll reappear. I don't get it. I know these tracks shouldn't be there because they do not have the little iphone symbol in the list and some of them I don't even have in my itunes anymore. This is crazy.

If you're seeing iTunes purchases show up and without the little iPhone icon on them. Turn ON the option. (Off aka. Toggle not green means you will see stuff you've purchased or in the cloud not on your phone. Green toggle means only stuff on your phone will be seen.)

I don't think that's correct. The green toggle means your itunes purchases not physically stored on the phone are going to show. I just turned it on (green showing) and all my itunes purchases were there. I toggled it off and they disappeared. Problem is they will be back without me touching anything.

will my downloaded albums/songs (offline - My Music) disappear after three months trial?

do I need to continue subscribe to individual or family plan in order to keep my downloaded albums/songs (offline - My Music)?

Thank you!

That's. It how it works on mine. Green toggle showing only shows me music actually on my phone and toggle off shows me anything I have yet to "download" to my phone (be it any purchases not downloaded and also any Apple Music selections I have added to My Music but not yet made for Offline.)

If it was downloaded from Apple Music and wasn't something you already had locally on your phone prior to the Apple Music launch then yes it will disappear if you drop your subscription.

I think you might be having the same problem as me. At times it doesn't matter what position the toggle is in. They show sometimes and not others. Very frustrating.

The option is called "Show Music Available Offline" and works as it should. So no I don't have the same issue. On means only offline (local music) off means all your offline PLUS anything you have in iTunes you've purchased and Apple Music not yet downloaded.

I had that issue last night. Turning it on, closing the app (swiping up) and reopening then turning it back off. Small bug, slightly annoying though.

Not true. Apple just doesn't seem to be trying that hard now. They're getting lazy and complacent.

I don't spend much time on Windows or Linux forums so I can't say for sure but it does seem that Apple forum goers do complain a lot more than most. At least here on MR. I chalk it up to people paying a premium and expecting Perfection right out of the gait. I've never known that to happen with software of any brand. I'll admit that the only time I visit Windows forums is when I'm looking for an answer to a problem I'm having with the software....which is often. So there's that lol!

I don't think Apple is getting lazy by any means. They have A LOT more irons in the fire these days and their star has been consistently rising since the early 2000's. With all that comes issues. It's unfortunate but that's business.

It becomes useful when you start "loving" a bunch of songs. It starts to have suggestions you might actually like ... or cool playlists you can add to your collection.
I have a question about "loving" songs. When you do that (click the heart), what exactly are you telling AM. Are you loving the artist, the song or the story of music?

Just look at the screen shot above the bottom view contains the running time, track name, back/pause/forward, slider bar, repeat track button etc....all of this is literally half of your screen. Is that really necessary? Look at all the extra dead space in between those entries. Yes we need the entries but why does it need to take up half the screen?

Because the album artwork is square.

We lost the ability to "SHUFFLE" Genres again....ugh. I want to go to my Jazz genre and shuffle the entire genre, not a particular artist....

I'm going back to Spotify for now. The music app is buggy. I get crashes, annoying bugs... this is totally unacceptable.

Same workaround from before still applies ... within the Music app do a search on "Jazz" and in the results under Genre select a song to start playing, then tap on Shuffle. Make sure you're searching on "My Music" and not "Apple Music", and don't use Spotlight search, use the search within the Music app.

Or, use a 3rd party music player app ... I just changed to Marvis and am really liking it so far.

You are telling them you "love" the song and it will base recommendations based on that.

Only if you absolutely fall in love with an album or playlist 100% should you favor "loving" it instead of individual songs. The results will be better.

You can see it here. I am talking about the fact that the app is online without any necessity to do so and has not been bf this release. First of all this is uselessly draining from my data plan secondly it is draining battery if it is online (see low signal warning in screenshot). Of course it drains battery if u fiddle around but I'm fine with that

Update: when I force-exclude the music app from cellular network the battery consumption drops significantly by factor 6. See screenshot. User behavior stable over time.

Always taken into account that before and after I only listened to music from my iphones library. this is really messed up. If I listen to offline music the app should be offline by itself not by forcing me to be so

It annoys me when sorting by artist that for artists with 2 albums it shows both albums in one long list. 3 or more and you get to pick the album in a list first- wish this applied to 2 albums too.

Also hoing to the now playing album/song from the More Options top option regularly goes to Unknown Artist and a blank page.

After few days I can say, Spotify app is better. Mostly in navigation, syncing songs and playlists. I really really wanted to like Apple music, but iphone navigation, offline and playlist management is horrible.

Its becoming clear now why Apple has implemented the low battery power feature button in settings in the up coming version of iOS 9 they knew Apple Music was going to use more of your battery.
