I'm sorry but if you have trouble navigating the interface of the music app, either you've only been playing with it for 10 minutes or you have trouble navigating systems in general.

Yeah, it took a few minutes to get used to but I love it now. I use all tabs and overall this is a huge upgrade to my personal iOS Music experience.

It really just needed to be a separate app and leave the music app alone, I know that wouldn't have seen the same synergy it does currently but if they can't design the app well enough for it to all make sense then it should have been two separate ones. Right now my music app feels like a cluster**** of an experience.

4. I didn't notice my battery draining any faster. Nor did I notice the app wanting to be online all the time. What I did notice is that my battery will drain when I fiddle with the app a lot (which is normal).

You can see it here. I am talking about the fact that the app is online without any necessity to do so and has not been bf this release. First of all this is uselessly draining from my data plan secondly it is draining battery if it is online (see low signal warning in screenshot). Of course it drains battery if u fiddle around but I'm fine with that

Also, the lag on my iPad 3 in Album view is the worst I've ever seen. It actually give me a headache. :/

Also, THE TOUCH TARGETS ON THE iPad ARE TOO FREAKIN' BIG!

I thought my screen was going bad! You have to tap "My Music" exactly, or your touch is registered on the mini player! I keep playing songs, skipping, or replaying by account. I mean, come on! And there probably own't be a fix until iOS 9 in 3 months.

Well unfortunately they have a CEO who has NO understanding of all of the things that made Apple great and stand out in terms of UI and usability - he's an office guy - he worked at IBM and HP before he came to Apple.

Every new software they have released in the last couple of years proves that they can not do it without Steve Jobs.

They need a NEW guy in the highest position at Apple who says NOOOOOO to these horrible horrible usability failures they put out nowadays. But Cook doesn't even see that...he doesn't know that this is ****, so he doesn't say no to the release.

Microsoft software and apps seem more Apple like than actual Apple software these days.

Sad.

Except people were complaining about iTunes being bloated and hard to use before the iPhone even launched, and that was under Jobs' watch... I would give it time before dismissing everything.

I believe the trick here is to pull the mini player up rather than tapping on it.

Yes! That's actually a little helpful!

I have an old iPhone 5 docked in my car. This new music player is quite difficult to use while driving.

Wait, what?! You use Music while driving?!
[/sarcasm]

Swiping up on this thin little ribbon is no easier than tapping it ... this is the single most annoying change in the UI to me. Really, really poor design choice.

Saying that, I hate that when I accidentally hit the artist picture and not just the name, it changes from what's currently playing. :(

I'm doing that all the time! I've always tapped the album art to view a list of songs, but now that starts playing the album. :/

I wish you could scroll through Artists, not Album Artists. As it is, for my library to be easily navigable I'd need to update the Sort Album Artist field for 10-15k songs to match the Artist sorting I've used for years. Some toggles on settings and restoring customizable button arrangement could go a long way.

Between that and how the Artist/Album/Song/etc. buttons have been relegated to a spot that requires you scroll all the way to switch views, therefore losing your place, this app cannot meet my most basic needs. It's a shame since they've finally added some features, such as "add song to playlist," that I've wanted for years.

I'm not against Music but I'll spend my time in a 3rd party app that does what I need and, consequently, won't spend much time in the stock app.

How do I get to the list of all my songs? I'm only seeing them grouped by artist/album.

Thanks!

Does the music app replace your own album art with a match it finds in iTunes? I've noticed some of my album art is different than the ones I set them to. This is pretty annoying when you have different singles from the same album but they all have the same album art. :(

This I find to be the most annoying part of the new music app. After updating I was missing several artists from my artist view until I realized that they are now sorting with Album Artists. the only way to correct this now is to update thousands of songs metadata in iTunes. Unacceptable!

For the longest time, I have named the albums of singles as "Such and such [Single]" I don't know if that would help prevent that.

When you select a band, do you have to scroll through a list of all songs (like in the iOS 7 app) or can you pick an album first (like in iOS 1-6)?

Most of the time I get the album first, but others I get a list of songs, then the next album's list of songs. It's buggy.

(7) Smart Playlists still won't Live Update if you use the "Playlist Is ... " criteria. I've given up on this capability ever being restored in iOS, even though it works on an iPod Classic.
.

I've always wondered about this. It seems stupid that smart playlist don't work on iOS.

They will, but only with the simplest of criteria. The "Playlist is ..." criteria breaks Live Updating, even if the subject playlist is present on the device. Oh well, I have gotten used to re-syncing daily to refresh my playlist contents.

Music.app has better navigation and is easy on the eyes.

However, Spotify has better organization as the music from Playlists don't infiltrate the Artists and Albums view tabs. This makes it easier to find an actual full album in the app without having to scroll through a bunch of artists that only have 1 song in the "album" just because I added a gazillion playlists.

"Smart" playlists don't sync in iCloud Photo Library either (in Photos case, Smart Albums). I can see them on my Mac, but the iDevice shows up as blanks.

It's clear to me now that Apple has lost his way. Ever since Tim took over, it's been nothing but buggy releases. I remember when Apple shipped relatively bug free wares.

Ok, I really love Apple and their products, but this is another Photos.app fiasco!!!

They tried to put to much stuff in the Music.app, it's clunky, even after I turned off iCloud Music Library and Show Apple Music I still get the annoying iPhone icon on every song, really??? I know all my music is on my phone, so if it's only local music and iCloud is off, the little iPhone icon should be gone.

@connect is the worst, I followed some artist and genres and nothing is showing, Apple is just trying to push Ping no matter what, almost nobody cares about Connect/Ping

What happened to my radio stations, they are all in recent, nooooooo, I don't want to see a bad radio o channel that I clicked by mistake or didn't like.

When I had iCloud Music Library and Show Apple Music and connected the iPhone to my Mac, there was no way for me to transfer new music from my computer to my iPhone, what the hell.

Also, when using iCloud some of the album cover changed from the ones I had in my computer to whatever cover album Apple has in their system.

I couldn't add any songs from Apple Music if iCloud Music Library wasn't enabled, again, Apple is tying to to push stuff that is not needed.

Any way, in the end I ended up with 3 tabs, My Music / Playlist / Radio (thanks to MacRumors on how to remove @connect) and now the Music.app is ok, just plain ok.

So after 10 mins I finally figured out how to shuffle my entire music library on the new music app. When your playing any song the mini player at the bottom which also acts as a slide up to show you the cover art of what's playing its on this screen that you will find the shuffle icon at the bottom activating that will shuffle your entire library. Such a weird place to put it. It's not even activated on the lock screen. It's only on the slide up screen while in the player.
