Recycling is relatively good.... but dude, get a nalgene, save youself several bucks a day, and the energy used to remelt plastic...

oh wait, you live in california...

nevermind, better buy water.

Does pepsi have a water brand to pair up with, though? that would be extremely cool. At this point, though, I have to say, I don't think this promo matters too much- redemption rates are puny- but I do think it's good, b/c it can't hurt, and it'll get more AAC out there, which we desperatly need...

Pepsi's water produuct is Aquafina. Coke's is Dasani.

Since Steve is a vegetarian and a health nut, why did Apple partnership with a company that sells unhealthly drinks, really aimed at children. Apple could have been the stewards of the Earth by partnering with natural juice companies, to promote a healthly lifestyle. Ahh well, money talks.

well, the www.apple.com/itunes/pepsi site redirects you to the /itunes site.

(another way) to see into the bottle to make sure it's a winner is to put a flashlight over the cap and hold it steady--if you do not move the bottle too much you can see the reflection of the light onto the pepsi. it works, but it might seem strange to the person at the register.

p.s. they probably are not going to release new ipod minis anytime soon unless they do it before this offer....that would be weird if they gave out dated ipod minis to some people and new ones to other people.

I can verifiy that it is legit also. I went this morining before work to a BP gas station and got a Mountain Dew that had a iTunes cap. Unforunately I didn't win ...yet.

We've been over it many times....

Anyway, rembember that rumor a while ago that said Chiat/Day is working on the new ads for the promotion? Where is that little rumor....

This could be Apple's way of getting rid of their old Mini inventory. I doubt they would give away new ones, even if they come out before/during the promo. Of course, there may not be any old inventory as hot as these things are!

Promotion

Last year they screwed-up the promotion, right? So this year they've released the bottles a little early so the mac freaks like us go "ooooo...!" and tell all our friends about it for 2 weeks!! Free advertising!

(word of mouth is 10x more effective of something like that)

God I hope so -- the Pepsi-produced ads were truly terrible. "Hey kids! Drink Pepsi so you won't go to jail!"

HAHA. :) Didn't actually think of it like that. It was pretty, agreed. I think they got carried away with the song, and ended up preaching to the kids. Kids don't like getting preached to. I think ads along the lines of the current iPod ads would work. Instead of the silhouettes dancing, they could be drinking? In a cool way, of course.

Imagin having people dance to their iPods, then the music stops, they open a bottle of pepsi and win a free song, the silloetts sit down at their iMac G5, redeem the song, upload, and start dancing away.

Pepsi Cross-Promotion to benefit iTunes Users

I've been hoping for this to happen...
Pepsi has been doing their NFL promotion in the US for a couple months now where you can get caps that say "buy one 20oz. get one free". Guess what date is the last day to turn in caps? Jan 31st.

I have like 5 caps just sitting on my desk at work and a few at home. Hopefully my area will get the iTunes Pepsi bottles a couple days before the contest begins and I can get 10 songs for the price of 5 bottles through the previous NFL contest.

Just a thought for anyone out there if you want to maximize your song total.

Hopefully they will ship them out on time this year. Last year so-cali didn't get them till the last 2 weeks of the deal. So after you couldn't redeem them anymore we got the bulk :(

Pepsi gave away a free iPod an hour from Oct 2 to Dec 25 (13 weeks) in Canada. That works out to 2184 free iPods. You can still see it on their website at http://pepsi.ca/

But they have never done the free iTMS song thing here yet.

It was actually 2016 Ipods. :)

If it's anything like the Canadian contest, you guys are in for a good time. The key is how they handle the no purchase necessary entries. We were allowed to request 1 PIN code per email address per hour. At least there's a cap of 10 entries per day in the US contest so you can sleep. For those interested in the rule changes since the Canadian hourly Ipod contest, read here:

It took me to apple.com iTunes/Pepsi page. Left my E.Mail so that they will notify me at the beginning of teh promotion.

"We’ll send you an email reminder when the promotion launches on January 31, 2005."

at the international car expo in Detroit at the Cobo center Pepsi and DUB were giving out free pepsi download codes on little 3x5 printouts. i picked up aa couple of them. i believe they say to redeem them after 1/31/05 (dont have it in front of me right now, i'll update on actual date later.)

Here's hoping that the promotion is actually available in this area, unlike last year, where it was nowhere to be found.

I was just thinking about this. I hope they solve their poor distribution problems this time-- although I think many more people know about iTMS than last year, so Apple probably doesn't have quite as much to benefit from the promotion as it did last year.

IT'S GOOD FOR DEW THIS TIME!!!!!!

*chugs remaining Code Red Mt. Dews in fridge*
all 16 of them . . .

Yes we all know the joke:
Vendor "crab juice or Mt. Dew?"
Homer "eww yuck, I'll take the crab juice"

I live in West Michigan, and I couldn't find a single promotion bottle last year. I hope they figure out the distribution this time.

Wow! Where in West Michigan, if I might ask?

(then again, you probably already said it on the 2+ pages of thread I didn't read yet.)

I'm in the Grand Rapids area and we had them almost immediately... but "West Michigan" is a large area, I can see many places that would take time to spread into.

Edit: Or maybe I could just read the location underneath your name. Grand Haven, eh? I know we had them plenty early here in Allendale. Hop on M45 for your iTunes!

Rules and regulations

I was reading the rules and regulations for the canda contest and found a very weird rule. Its under section 5 "In order to win any prize, potential winners will be required to correctly answer an online, time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question without assistance of any kind whether mechanical or otherwise,..."

And under section 14.

"If a potential winner is found to be ineligible, declines to accept the prize, fails to correctly answer a matematical skill testing question or in the event that a prize confirmation or prize is retrned undeliverable, the prize will be forfeited."

Why are they requiring a math test to claim your prize? What buying their product and being the luky person out of thousands maybe millions is not enough they want to test your math skills.

The math test is pretty is easy for any 3rd grader. I have no idea why they make you take a math skill test.

1 + 1, mainly so you can't sign up your dog or your baby for it.

I could just imagine someone winning a plasma TV having to answer a college calculus question.... :p
