Would there be an itunes logo if ios 5 wasnt installed yet?

Would there be any kind of firmware on it at tgis point?

Yes, I am real, are you real?

Sean Duffy, who has Asperger's Syndrome. Yes, I am aware of the case. I didn't compare you to him though.

It's people who bother replying back to comments like these that make me sad :(

Actually, if the firmware is somehow corrupted/there was a failed restore/there is no firmware this still happens in ios 5. I know, I've got it running the beta, and it's happened during upgrading (and yes I'm a developer)

A trait diluted in the masses.

As much as I love Apple, and I have a fair share of iOS devices. As an iPhone 4 owner, I would see no reason to upgrade if the next iPhone carried the same physical characteristics as the iPhone 4. However it was posted somewhere on the internet that some of the Apple execs have grown tired of the current iPhone 4 design. As Steve Jobs put it in the iPhone 4 keynote, they would be "resting on their laurels" by releasing a spec bumped 4. Here's to a proper iPhone 5 release! :D

Unfortunately, i don't find this interesting at all. I'm surprised that we haven't seen any leaks about the iPhone 5. That's what i'm more concerned about.

Yep, me to. Thats why im leaning towards just a spec bump, and somehow the case designs we've seen could be for the ipod touch.

We have to remember what else has gone on over the last 12 months. Steve hasn't been at work for a lot of it (i know he's still watching over from home) and i possibly think without his day to day and hands on approach the update this year (timing and design) could be really messed up. I know its not something people here (me included) would like to think about, but it is possible that without steve our "expected" updates and upgrades may not go the way we want and we may have to get used to it.

I concur!

Or, you know, all those case manufacturers could be dead wrong. There could be no radical new design this year, and that design document they all based their new case designs on was a Canary Trap that Apple distributed in order to track down who has been leaking info.

The longer we go without seeing any physical evidence of a new design the more likely this seems to me.

And frankly, I hope I'm right... I like the iPhone4 design, and I'm not really liking the form factor shown in that design document.

I'm so worried that the "iPhone 4S" will actually be the iPhone 5... a minor spec bump. Apple's decisions have bee pretty bad lately, so I wouldn't be surprised.

Yes, their last quarterly earnings report was an unmitigated disaster. These guys are failing at every level. No wonder their stock took a nosedive today.

:D

Lion, FCPX... Those weren't good. Not saying Apple's completely terrible or anything, I'm just saying, they've set a lot of people up for dissapointment. I sure hope we don't end up disappointed though :)

If that were true, we would have likely seen pictures from the iPod Touch frame. It's as likely that the so-called iPhone 5 new design will be used for an iPod to be released later this year as that it will be used for an iPhone to be made available later this year, with only the iPhone 4S being available next month.

I doubt it, though. I think the new design based on the big cases was just a mistake, or something that came from the prototype of the iPhone 6. Which is a pity, since I really don't like the iPhone 4 design. I guess I'll just keep my 3GS for one more year.

Final Cut Pro X affects few people. It's a niche tool for a niche market. Remember that over half of Apple's revenue comes from iPhone sales. Something like a pro-caliber video editing suite is chump change for Apple.

As for Lion, well, I'm personally not seeing any major issues. As far as I can tell, this is probably Apple's best 10.x.0 release. But my experience with OS X Lion is limited to my home computer, a year-old Mac mini.

How is it not a fairly logical assumption, given 3GS was the non-redesigned version of the 3G and we're talking about a non-redesigned version of the 4?

Because the iPhone 3G name wasn't referring to third-generation, it was referring to the 3G network speed. So calling the successor the 3GS (remember, the S stood for "speedy") marketed the phone as a speedy 3G-speed phone.

The name 4S is like calling it a "speedy fourth-generation iPhone" when it in reality will be the fifth-generation iPhone.

I don't know what the next iPhone will be called, but I can tell you it won't be iPhone 4S.

Hope it's not true, because I really need a new phone. Poor old 3gs seems about ready to bite the dust. But if it is, then I'm not buying. For one, I'm not a big fan of the iphone 4's looks (glass back? wtf were they thinking?). For another, I don't want to encourage a company to delay the release of a highly anticipated product by months and then deliver a lackluster tweak. It's actually kind of insulting-- like, just because it's Apple, everyone will buy it! Well, maybe many will, but I won't be one of them.

What The?

Let's see. Apple add's 20-30 million (that's million) customers to it's base each quarter...If there a lot of people set up for dissapointment then you are right, we are all in trouble lol.

This next product launch is going to be Apple's biggest ever. Ever. And they know it. While the length of time may be bothering alot us waiting and waiting Im hoping that means a smoother roll out and less problems in the long run. The hype alone on the next unveiling is going to be massive. The onsale of the new iphone is going to be something we have never seen before on a product launch -- remember the worldwide lines for ipad 2.....you ain't seen nothing yet. Add to that mix an additional model at a cheaper price point and holy ****!

No company on this earth could handle the insane, insane explosive growth Apple has achieved. Nobody.

For anyone to intimate that it as a company should be prestine and perfect across all it's product lines is lame, ignorant, and FUD. Get real.

Iphone 5, Iphone 4s, iCloud, a 3G upgraded ipod touch, refreshed ipods, the new displays, the new mac mini, macbook, air, apple tv --- let's see -- not much in their product line??? WTF?? lol

Well, let's think about this and apply the "What would Steve do?" litmus test.

We know that Steve's core aesthetics highlight simple, elegant, and thin. Thus, if he were to walk on stage next week and announce the fifth-generation handset, most likely he would talk about the "iPhone 5, with the A5 chip, running iOS 5."

Let's face it, Apple could have called the A4 chip anything. And yet it was the A4 chip powering the iPhone 4, running iOS 4. Simplicity is the Apple way.

More careless users = even bigger fail

I agree. Well, in a way, I think. It's pretty much your own fault if you don't decide to put a case around your phone and it gets damaged. Phones are worth a lot nowadays. Protect it like you would anything else you cared about.

I do think it'd be nice if phones were made indestructible, but that's not the case.

Will there Ever come a time when smart phone perfection is reached or does Business reject this concept? Will there be an iPhone Classic, for example?
