I don't see the card companies giving Apple exclusive rights for putting the cards on Apple devices since they already have agreements with Google Wallet and SoftCard. Agreement to be added, yes... agreement for exclusivity, no.

If there is one thing that most people can't deny about Apple, even the haters, is that once they get on board with something, the market does seem to adapt quicker. maybe they do it better, more complete, or maybe its just perception. but I think we'll definitely see NFC take off much quicker now (smart watches as well).
Agreed. It often takes a well known global brand to kick technologies off. Apple finally using NFC is brilliant.

Also, I don't think what they've done is "exactly" what the rest of the industry has done. I don't know the specifics of the others, but it seems that what has been done is include NFC as payment option in the phone, and leave the rest to the merchants to sort out. Kind of a "build it and they will follow" but they been reluctant to follow.

Apple is bringing in merchants (other than mcDonalds, CVS and 7-11), banks, bringing education and awareness, and more importantly, they are working deals with credit card companies. If they can strike deals with say Chase and Amex, being exclusive on Apple devices, those companies can then add incentives to retailers to upgrade their terminals. Drop a 1/2% in fee for any "Chase NFC" transaction. A company like Apple could pull this off.
I'm guessing it is how the industry works in the country in question, especially the banking industry. NFC has been installed into many cash machines where I'm at, Banks, McDonalds, Subway, M&S and many other stores already offer NFC payments and many phone models already support NFC payments too. Now there are still plenty of places that don't offer NFC, but support has been rising just fine long before Apple decided to take the technology on-board.

Apple will help NFC usage without a doubt. And massively so. But to claim that it would never happen without them is nonsense. It was already happening before they decided to use it.

Apple live streaming SUCKED the other day - very poor Apple. With that said, Samsung, really? don't have anything better to do with their time…….. really turning people off and who wants to to buy ANYTHING that has the brand name Samsung on it, not me. A cheap shot at Apple.

Apple is too busy suing polish grocery supermarkets for having a similar name (a.pl) and possibly confusing customers. REALLY? I know that's an older story but if we're taking about classless....

Samsung sells many different things. From Cell phones to refrigerators to TVs. Why would they continue to alienate all Apple customers from buying ANYTHING from them? They make some of the best TV's, but I would rather buy another brand because all they do is make fun of us. F you Samsung, you won't get any of my money.

Am I the only one that feels that way??

----------

But Apple does?

Yes, apple does most of the time.

I'm not so sure about that....see above post.

You all need to chill. Samsung is just having some fun with Apple's misfortunes just as Apple had with the PC.

Its all in good humor...

You mean Android L which will be out soon?

Yes only a year late to the party and tell me how many phones are going to run it in 64bit. The nexus to my knowledge is the only one rumored to maybe support it and not any Samsung phones. Correct me if I am wrong.

Completely agreed. It's silly to say that it wouldn't have advanced without Apple. Like my earlier examples; USB, Bluray etc have all advanced without Apple's full support.

Personally I dont care if it's BLE or NFC. I am looking forward to a viable Payment Option. I Was excited about Passbook in that I can keep gift cards, coupons, CCards etc all on my phone in one simple app... but it hasn't taken off. Hopefully it'll all change.

The numbers posted yesterday showed that it might as well not have been happening. Extremely slow growth, negligible growth really.

Sure, it may have gotten there eventually, but now it will definitely get there far sooner than expected.

I've had nfc on my phones for about two years. The growth in that time is laughable. Watch the numbers this time next year. NFC usage is about to explode, and that's solely due to apple and not some inevitable happening.

This is what I meant. It would have likely gotten there... eventually. I'm glad Apple has jumped in because I too believe this will significantly speed up the process.

When a company that is heavily into piracy like Samsung runs ads making fun of their victims it's not really newsworthy.

It's clear Samsung is merely trolling iPhone fans ... and judging by comments here, they've done a good job at it too!

Reading all the pent up frustrated replies, I think someone at Samsung is gonna be laughing their head off!!!

Samsung is copying the "I'm A PC, I'm a Mac" campaign. But to make this work, you need two things: a killer service that isn't well-known, and a disgruntled community of users of your opponent's service. Apple fans are fiercely loyal, so you won't be winning them by mocking them or disparaging Apple.

Here is the problem with Samsung's strategy: Apple isn't in the business of providing live event streaming services. What happened is totally irrelevant to Apple's or Samsung's customers.

So what we have is nothing but a display of Schadenfreude, which ultimately reflects badly only on the one displaying it - Samsung.

Well, no. It clearly demonstrates that "good humor" is something hat Samsung lacks deeply.

Apple SHOULD be made fun of for that live stream debacle... that was awful.

The live stream was awful. Shouldn't have happened.

However, Samsung's advert shows Samsung as a nasty, vindictive company. And that was an intentional action of Samsung. This wasn't a mistake that someone made. This happened with full knowledge of their top management. Samsung actually spent money to convince people what kind of ***holes they are.

For all the class that everyone here claims Apple to have, this thread proves that their fan base has none of it. The insults to Samsung in this thread are downright embarrassing.

Samsung worked really hard to deserve every single one of these results.

Classic example of a company that knows when they cannot compete they make fun of the competitor instead. When it comes to phones, Samsung makes awful products. I work for customer care for a company that sales more mobile devices outside of all phone carriers. When it comes to customers calling in with complaints about a phone with over heating issues or stopped working within weeks if not days of it being purchased, the product is a Samsung phone before any other brand of phone. And if it isn't a Samsung phone with issues it is another brand running Android. Samsung should stick to making TV's

Hey, we all know you're smarter than Steve Jobs. So keep on keepin' on!

If you can't answer the question - then just say so.

I find it funny how worked up people are. Seriously. Why do so many take this personally? One company poked fun of another company. The emotional involvement of 3rd party forum posters is amusing.

I wonder why Apple sells stylus in their stores then. And why the stylus business is huge for Apple devices.

They are for switchers from Android phones who think they need a stylus. They never use it, but they want to buy one with their phone. It's like antivirus software for the Mac. You don't need it, but some people want to buy it.

Yes, you really seem worked up.

Myself, I just enjoy watching a trainwreck sometimes. Like the trainwreck that is Samsung advertising. It's so bad, it's funny. Like that creepy stalker watch ad which is just unbeatable.

Question

What is a snikerdoodle? And if anyone knows can you even tell me if I spelled it it correctly?
