I did not say cloud storage is a rip off. You're thinking of someone else.
You’re absolutely right. Mea culpa.
You...can't remember your wifi passwords? Come on now. It's not that big a deal.
It’s not mine, it’s the host of others: restaurants, my father-in-law’s, my window tinter’s (who probably forgot he told it to me and probably wouldn’t again), my friend’s friend’s place where I crash once in a while, etc. etc. Yeah, I could’ve 1Passworded them but I didn’t and I’ll never know what many of them actually are. And without an encrypted backup, they die with my phone.

Pretty good ad I thought, really shows a lot of areas where Apple were a step behind. Things like water proofing, MicroSD expandable storage, larger display sizes etc - These are not areas where Apple came in later and did it better, they just came in late.

Seems like you didn’t know they iPhone 7 outlasted the Samsung galaxies in water tests, and the iPhone X display is the best on any smartphone. Touch ID better, Face ID better. Tested and proven. It seems as though you’re either misinformed or hypnotized.

Who the hell wants a stylus? That’s from the 1980’a PDA era. And dongles? Are they serious. I want a classy, capable, advanced phone with a usable interface.

Too bad MR users fall for this. Imagine if MR posted this and there was NO posts. Then the joke would be on Galaxy.
But we all fall for it like the commercial that says "you can't say cheese without smiling." And everyone in the room says "cheese" :p
It’s not the MR forum posts. It’s the YouTube video view count (which MR is semi-advertently promoting) which they’re watching and to which I for one won’t bother contributing.

A lot of personal preference being touted as fact around here. It's just sad many of you are too blinded by your loyalty to a brand that you can't see you all face the same issues, shilling for a corporation that only cares about separating you from your money. It doesnt matter what phone you like, one is not better than the other as it's all personal preference.

Use what works best for you and move on, don't waste your life on pathetic arguments like which phone is "better".

This is from a Galaxy owner: maybe Apple can show how untimely Samsung updates are, how bloated Samsung software can be, how less optimized the software is, and how hard it is for people to get good customer service?

Apple, Samsung, and Google all work together as partners, so I really don't care if they parody each other. Reminds me of the scene in Pirates of Silicon Valley. Steve wanted Lisa and Macintosh teams to argue.

I miss Scott Forstall. Apple doesn't have that deliberation anymore.
Oh really? How come you’ve held back on us the info from all the times you’ve been present at company/team meetings inside Apple.

Preach it brother. Apple does some great things. So does Samsung. And they both do some dumb things. Personally I hate the X. Why a is everyone racing to remove bezels? Tired of the bezeless craze. In 3 years we will all be carrying slabs of glass and we won't be able to tell our phones apart. LOL

Why would Samsung waste their money on this commercial? The high price of the iPhone X should be enough to keep the majority of Samsung's current customers in markets where Android phones dominate from switching to the X (countries in Europe/Asia).

It's funny though...

Apple is a step behind, late, or completely missing features that the other guys have. It's been well documented.

Yet Samsung is obviously threatened by the iPhone since they spend so much time talking about it in their commercials.

Seriously... look at all the Samsung commercials that have iPhones featured in them somehow. It's been more than a few. Quite an obsession.

So maybe the iPhone isn't really as behind or as late as you think.

Remember the year Apple sold over 200 million iPhones... without waterproofing?

Samsung remembers... :p

And the point is that the average consumer doesn’t care about that added functionality and will barely use the pen, even if Apple were to implement it.

Pretty grand statement from someone who also doesn’t know anything about the S-Pen. As someone who’s owned nothing but iPhones until the Note 8, once you actually see all of the things it can do (rather than just assuming it’s a stylus) then there’s tons of things that everyone can find very useful.

I’m not sure why so many people are debating the S-Pen. Even Apple has admitted it’s a good idea as they have the Apple Pencil. Heck, you can’t even do as many things with the Apple Pencil as you can the S-pen.

Getting excited for Apple to respond with an ad showing a Note 7 exploding...

At least I can bring my phone on an airplane

Really? That’s all you both can come up with in defence for Apple after 4-5 Things Samsung made fun of, both your topics are not relevant with Note 8 since time of launch. Samsung is showing things relevant to each timeline the lineup relevant with the dumb hair cut and those doing the same things with iPhone.

Would’ve LOVED to see Samsung making fun of Animoji - curious why they did not.

Well they have a point I guess, although the majority of users probably couldn’t care less about a stylus.

Very well made commercial tastefully done and accurate to show Apple’s marketing preferences over the years.

We’ll see how many switched from Apple to Samsung SGS 8 / Note 8

The technology to write down a contact convert it into a regular contact and search for it has been around since the Palm Pilot

I just tell the person my phone number and have them call me right there.

Then we BOTH have the phone number in our phones.

Yes... we still have to type our names into the field... but at least we have the phone number instantly. That's the most important part, after all. :)

So you are participating in this thread without even watching the video? It's fine if you swear by your device, but its always good just to have the understanding of the competition. Even if I disagree with someones opinion, I'll still listen to what they have to say, to try and get an understanding of where they are coming from. Give it a watch, even some die hard Apple fans find the notch jab funny.

You'd think companies would have learned by now that ridiculing the competition is not a winning strategy. As an iPhone user, why would I want to switch to a product from a company that has basically told me I'm an idiot for not buying their product I the first place? Nobody ever wins a debate by insulting a competitor. If anything, ads like this make Samsung look as though they are desperately trying to hang onto their existing base rather than expanding it. If they feel their product is superior, as I would expect them to, they should tout its superior features, not try to make people who didn't buy it feel stupid for not doing so. Apple got away with "I'm a Mac ... I'm a PC" because it was genuinely funny, but I'd bet they found that after a while, even that campaign became counterproductive. To win in the marketplace you need a truly superior product and good marketing that PERSUADES, not ridicules.
Also, the Mac vs PC ads weren't really about the users, they were about the experience. They weren't telling people "hey you are stupid if you are a windows user", they were telling them "hey look how much more fun you can have if you used a Mac instead, and we also have these cool, hip productivity apps yo".
