Lol man the reaction of the samsung fans in this thread is hilarious. I'm amused. You can see the insecurity shining through. Samsung is a crap company and their sales and profit will continue to decline.

Their mobile division might but based on the fact Samsung is a collection of many, many companies making very small to very, very large things I expect Samsung will do just fine making chips, panels, appliances, engines, chemicals and ships.

You know, just like it has been for nearly a hundred years. But don't let facts get in the way of ignorance.

I have an iPod, it replaced my mp3 player. I have an iPhone, it replaced my $15 SS flip phone. I will not have an iWatch because it replaces nothing and if you're in the market for a watch with an ounce of sense you wont spend $300-400 on this lump of tacky crap.

I dunno. I'm as unsure as you are on the Smartwatch market but I will wait and see what it evolves into.

Come 3 or 4 years they'll be totally different devices and you never know you may be tempted by one!

Do you really think Apple "invented" the fingerprint sensor, don't you? Pathetic!

I'm sure he/she just thinks Apple implemented the first really nicely working one in recent years. Do you really think Samsung would've put a fingerprint sensor in the S5 if Apple didn't put one in the 5S? Nevermind they had to put in a comparatively crappy one with a certainly less interesting long term strategy for it. One would have to be pathetic to not see that.

I wonder if Samsung ever thanked Apple for the fingerprint sensor.

Or their entire line of smartphones....

Pretty much says it all.
The iWatch looks to be absolute garbage and Apple must be embarrassed about bringing it out this late and for this price point.

Sport watch? There are many out there FAR greater than this without having to lump your iPhone around, alot cheaper price too.

My Omega SMP will continue to be strapped to my wrist - no charging, no vibrating gimicks; a real watch.

This Omega SMP sound's great! How much does it cost? Oh... it's around £3000+ /$4500+... still I bet it has a ton of functionality... like a chronograph... sweet - what can you do with that? I googled it... http://forums.watchuseek.com/f71/uses-chronograph-74330.html - my favourite is number 10: "Good Luck
Place the chronograph hand on your lucky number – and have a nice day."

See, that is useful!

What else does this Omega SMP do... oh, it tells the time, cool cool - what I expect from a watch.

All Joking aside, this must be a trolling comment - AnonDP talks about cheaper watches out there but then states they own a rather expensive functionless watch :-/

Personally, I think it was a mistake to label it a watch - it should have been something like :apple:connect :apple:pulse or similar - all the name watch has done is draw out negative comments from people who are jewellery enthusiasts...

I give it 2/3 years and the :apple:watch will be as popular as the iPhone.

The Next big thing from Samsung has chamfered flat edges and metallic back, like iPhone 5...

I think you're being willfully ignorant here. It's obvious when people talk about Samsung on this topic (smartphones) they're referring to their mobile division. I'm sure Samsung the conglomerate will continue producing chips, ships, and military weapons even if their mobile division goes under (which it's in no danger of doing any time soon, but a decline is always possible).

I'll say this as an apple fan: Samsung has a point. Apple has done nothing new with the new iPhone and what Samsung has done before.

Cmon, are you kidding? What else can you really do with a hand held display? iPhone 6 is beautiful. Still the best looking, & smoothest, most reliable mobile device on the market...Bar none. Everything else aside, Apple pay alone is going to be revolutionary. It's going to change the way the world pays for things. And yeah, Samsung had NFC first. But Apple Pay will prove to be the perfect example of how Apple takes existing (failing) technology and makes it a world wide standard. I've never ever seen one person use NFC on their Android device to pay for something.

<----- look here

*sigh*

Did you read the rest of the post? I was trying to be nice and give the original poster their due, after the original poster's well worded response to my accusation of making their first post on MacRumors essentially, "I'm outta here.".

I guess I failed.

(Sorry... I thought you were the O/P that i was conversing with. That one problem with doing this on an iPhone 5)
I read your whole post. I just wanted to emphasize that to judge discussants in a computer forum on their forum ranking as newbie is maybe misleading in the first place.

Hey Scamsung, guess what! My bro has the Scamsung S3, he's been waiting for Swype for iOS, and now that it is going to be available in iOS 8, he's buying iPhone 6 not another Scamsung device.

PS. Please continue making your retardedly dumb commercials attacking Apple, the industry leader who leads you in every department except cheap throwaway phones for third world markets. lol. :)

I own almost every product Apple has made, but this time Samsung is telling the truth for once.
Remember when Apple bragged about the "one hand" usage? Seems like that's not applicable any longer.

oh please! every single product Apple has ever made they've done so in different sizes. Every single one. This is not a new strategy on Apple's part. They wait until they have a reason or the software is ready to support it. The iPad wasn't IOS put on a larger screen, like everyone assumed it was at the time. The OS was expanded to accommodate the larger screen and functionality was added. Programs were more robust. Same thing with the phone. The larger phone has more sophisticated programs associated with it because of the larger screen. They didn't take IOS for the 4.5" phone and shove it into the 5.5" like samsung did.

I tried the Galaxy s5 yesterday - it was sloooow. i'd press on an app and nothing happened, then finally it opened. The transitions were jerky, not smooth as glass like the iPhone. Where's their 64 bit processor? Where's touch id? Where's the super easy payment system?

Screen size - that's the best you've got????? Oh and a pen - yeah like thats new, Windows pocket pc had that 15 years ago. Welcome to 2000 Samsung. Are they gonna put a film camera in their next phone??

OK, Once. IN general it was all about the PC vs Mac, not Company vs Apple. You don't see SS ads targeting LG or Microsoft. It's just childish.

I could go through them-there are many, many like this. Everyone knows PC meant Microsoft. But the ones towards Vista were particularly blatant-they outright would say Vista. And the idea is users of Microsoft Products were simply not savvy.

I have this amazing new mode feature for saving battery life .

Its called Airplane Mode. Switching it on will save tons of battery by turning off services.

I will rename it to be 'Super Mega Power Saving Mode'.

Agree. Have you seen the Galaxy S5 sensor being used? You need both hands to use the fingerprint sensor lol

When the iPhone 5s first came out with the fingerprint sensor I thought it was a bit gimmicky and thought it would be something i'd never use.

Then months after having it, my girlfriend asked me to call someone from her phone, I picked it up, pressed the home button and just waited (forgetting it was an iPhone 5 without the sensor).

It's something that often goes unnoticed, but that is the true beauty of the iPhone fingerprint sensor over Samsung's one... it is seamless, as soon as you make contact with the sensor it is reading so that you hit home and you are logged in within half a second.

Change the way the world pays for things? Maybe in America. I watched their poor-looking informational type presentation and wondered why that woman was swiping a card, signing something and then showing ID. All we do in the UK is put a card in a machine and enter a 4 digit pin. I think some cards even have an NFC style chip on them doing what this phone promises to at a few locations.

I don't have Android but I've seen people use NFC to pay for things? I dunno, now you're being anecdotal so I thought I would be too.

As an Apple fan I'm still waiting on a reason to spend £700 to upgrade my iPhone 4S.

Samsung with continue to bait Apple. Live with it.

Apple could do far more with each release of iPhone. They drip out so-called "updates" with only the sufficient to hook new gullible buyers. Apple's only real strength is their OS, the increasingly bloated and curved "Jonny" Ive takes so much credit for what, in iPhone 6 at least, is merely "keeping up with the Jones'", or doing only the necessary to claw back a few sales from Samsung's superiorly popular handsets.

At the end of the day, it's a 2 horse race and that is an industry regulation. "They all p1ss in the same pot" is an old adage that makes a lot of sense here.

My advice: Any old ****ty pre-so-called-smart phone will do. Get yourself an iMac 27" and when you're outside, don't be a retarded screen-dweller! Get a life! Which DOES exist outside of poxy bits of snag-bait so-called tech, by the way. You may find yourself vastly better off, in more ways than one.

A quote from http://www.cultofmac.com/124565/an-...and-its-massive-impact-ipod-10th-anniversary/

"The initial reaction from the public is not good. Most critics think it’s too expensive and does too little. “All that hype for an MP3 player? Break-thru digital device?” said one commentor on MacRumors forums. “The Reality Distiortion Field™ is starting to warp Steve’s mind if he thinks for one second that this thing is gonna take off.”

I remember the reaction to the iPod very well. Everyone laughed at Apple until it actually went on sale and people started using it.

Also, Apple hold's out on important features until the final release announcement we don't know the entire story of the Apple Watch yet.

Explanation: High quality. Products that not only have features, but features that customers actually use. Store employees that will help you with problems instead of fobbing you off.

And may I ask which Samsung phones are using a 64 bit processor? Which Samsung phones use permanent disk encryption to keep your data safe? Which Samsung phones can be remotely disabled when they are stolen?

All Samsung phones and tablets can be remotely wiped if stolen. I have no idea what encryption method Samsung uses, however no method is 100 % safe as Apple themselves have recently found out. Also if I have a problem with any of my devices I can go into my local Samsung store and I will be helped by staff whose specific role is to assist customers with their products.

Im just going to be patient I remember when people said the tablet was just a big iPhone.

I was one of those people! I couldn't see what the fuss was about and why anyone would want it (though I didn't go on forums blasting it either... just sayin').

Eventually I had to get one for work (browser testing) and use it pretty much every day now!

I think that this watch will have a fair bit of negativity surrounding it at the beginning and within a couple of years, most iPhone users will have one.

1) I'm talking about their mobile division, since this thread is about their mobile products
2) unlike the apple haters who say the sky is falling every week, I'm not saying they're doomed. Only ignorant people say dumb things like that.

Thanks.

Like they did in the I'm a Mac campaign?

So, PC is an actual brand of computer... Didn't know PC made... PC's

I think you know the difference here.

Also, they actually said how they were better than PC's, here its what... Whaaahhh they cooopied uuuus.

Not sure how that would make you buy their phones?

I think its time they fire they marketing agency. BTW, Samsung's market share in the mid and low end is in very bad shape and now they're going to lose the top end too. Not just from Apple, HTC, Sony, Aquos, all the chinese phones, etc. Almost everyone is taking shares from them.

Wow, this thread sure exploded. I guess it's hard to go into rumor relapse after a major apple announcement.

Frankly I find it amusing that people get themselves worked up on either side. It's understandable-maybe-for the company marketing departments to do so. However, Imagine a world where no one ever copied. Only one company would be making large phones, only one company would be making two seater sports cars, and only one type of restaurant would exist. Sounds fun!

Reality is, I'm thankful when Apple copies Samsung's good ideas, and vice versa. I want my camp to be happy, and I want the other camp to be happy. I want incredible and intense competition, which yields to more happy. Deliberate design theft is another matter, and we will let the courts decide on that.

It's pretty obvious which of the two companies is more classy. It's obvious which of the two has an actual sense of design, quality, and innovation. Even if their products were generally equal and the price points the same, I simply want to support the sophisticated over the bratty. Just like I want to take the classy woman out to dinner over the college bimbo, even when the tab comes out the same.
