My advice: Any old ****ty pre-so-called-smart phone will do. Get yourself an iMac 27" and when you're outside, don't be a retarded screen-dweller! Get a life! Which DOES exist outside of poxy bits of snag-bait so-called tech, by the way. You may find yourself vastly better off, in more ways than one.

Why do people here assume that their use case applies to the rest of the world? You may be fine with a pre-smartphone display, but that doesn't mean that there aren't legitimate needs for larger mobile devices.

Heh. I'm amused that Samsung spends billions throwing spaghetti at the wall and then when one of their ideas pans out they tout it like they've been "innovating for years". More like guessing for years and hey--look at this, something actually worked! :p

Its marketing Material like this that will never make me want to purchase a Samsung Smart Phone. I own about 3 very expensive Samsung Flat Screen TV's in my home and I absolutely love the products Samsung makes but whoever is heading the charge for their mobile based marketing is hands down steering this brand in the wrong direction. Not to mention my brother owns a Note 3 and the frame of the phone is made of plastic and the back cover feels like a cover from a 1980's Zenith TV remote. The brutal truth of this kind of marketing all boils down to the fact that no one will be crashing Samsung Mobiles website when the Note 4 comes out and no one will be lining up days ahead of the Note 4's Release date but on the other hand, your competitor has already had its website crashed from pre-orders and already has people in line for its product and if I remember correctly they have not once taken any Jabs at Samsung with their commercials, they focus on whats important - the product and its users. Sometimes "The Next Big Thing" isn't what everyone wants, they might just want a true and honest relationship with the company they are dealing with.

Big Phone

Personally, I'm not a big phone fan. I think I want a bit more convenience in the phone fitting in my pocket. I suspect as Apple Pay takes off that this convenience will be even more important.

Here's a truth that's gonna hurt; Apple is probably going to sell more iPhone 6 Pluses than Samsung has ever sold Galaxy Note 4's.

Stop this useless (and failing) smear campaign Samsung, and focus on your products, and what they can that really benefits users. My one and only foray into a Samsung phone left me with a phone whose screen failed days after the warranty expired, and taking jabs at the iPhone's cost (primary factor in my not getting one since I only need Pay As You Go) didn't make me feel any better about my broken phone, or the bloatware I'd had to endure up until it failed, or its dodgy battery life, loose sim slot, poor SD card compatibility (not something I ever expected could be a problem) and so-on.

I'm sure there are people who love their Samsung phones, don't get me wrong, I'm sure I had an especially bad experience, but I really hope those people like their phones because they feel the features and price were right, not because they're convincing themselves an iPhone would have been so much worse.

Ironic

It is ironic Samsung is making fun of Apple for "imitating" their phones... how quickly they forget...

You mean Windows vs OSX, because that's what the advert was.

Does Apple own 95% of the OS market? Pretty sure they do not. How on earth could Apple not be against the PC since there were no other options? Not only that, what they offered was distinctly different. Even more different than the difference between smartphones these days.

The main trust of those ads were how easy it made the user's life compared to the life of the PC user. This resounded because lets face it, PC's were a mess until XP came in (which only made it slightly better, but immensely better than all those before).

So, why do you think this is the same in this case when Samsung barely mention their own product, except to say they did it first? How on earth is that a compelling use case?

I always like to drop this little gem from the lawsuit.

The commercial was okay until they started mentioning Apple directly (and using tweets as argument) at about the 45 second mark. The commercial would have been effective if they trimmed the 5 seconds or so near the end.

To Samsung,

I've been an Apple user for about 25 years. I never owned an iPhone. I currently use a Galaxy s3.

For a smart phone. I don't use it anything other than phone calls, texts and bbms. I use my iPad mini for everything else.

I preordered an iPhone 6+ because you phones suck imo.

oh please! every single product Apple has ever made they've done so in different sizes. Every single one. This is not a new strategy on Apple's part. They wait until they have a reason or the software is ready to support it. The iPad wasn't IOS put on a larger screen, like everyone assumed it was at the time. The OS was expanded to accommodate the larger screen and functionality was added. Programs were more robust. Same thing with the phone. The larger phone has more sophisticated programs associated with it because of the larger screen. They didn't take IOS for the 4.5" phone and shove it into the 5.5" like samsung did.

I tried the Galaxy s5 yesterday - it was sloooow. i'd press on an app and nothing happened, then finally it opened. The transitions were jerky, not smooth as glass like the iPhone. Where's their 64 bit processor? Where's touch id? Where's the super easy payment system?

Screen size - that's the best you've got????? Oh and a pen - yeah like thats new, Windows pocket pc had that 15 years ago. Welcome to 2000 Samsung. Are they gonna put a film camera in their next phone??

Give credit where credit is due. Apple THEMSELVES pretty much said big phones are stupid. Samsung opened up a market that Apple are now going to exploit.

This Omega SMP sound's great! How much does it cost? Oh... it's around £3000+ /$4500+... still I bet it has a ton of functionality... like a chronograph... sweet - what can you do with that? I googled it... http://forums.watchuseek.com/f71/uses-chronograph-74330.html - my favourite is number 10: "Good Luck
Place the chronograph hand on your lucky number – and have a nice day."

See, that is useful!

What else does this Omega SMP do... oh, it tells the time, cool cool - what I expect from a watch.

All Joking aside, this must be a trolling comment - AnonDP talks about cheaper watches out there but then states they own a rather expensive functionless watch :-/

Personally, I think it was a mistake to label it a watch - it should have been something like :apple:connect :apple:pulse or similar - all the name watch has done is draw out negative comments from people who are jewellery enthusiasts...

I give it 2/3 years and the :apple:watch will be as popular as the iPhone.

An Omega SMP isn't a comparible product, if I wanted a watch that said how many Cal's I have burnt, what my heart rate was etc I would buy a Polar or something, for a very small fraction of the price.
My Omega doesnt have lots of functionality but I didn't buy a watch for that. To me a 'proper' watch is more than just a tool to tell the time. The watch I currently wear will still work 50 years down the line. The iWatch will be lucky to last the next 2 years.

I read your whole post. I just wanted to emphasize that to judge discussants in a computer forum on their forum ranking as newbie is maybe misleading in the first place.

I agree; that's why I qualified it with the "first post and it says, 'I'm outta here'"

This isn't my first rodeo, and I was calling out the user as a potential troll for launching an attack, albeit rather softly, on the first one.

If a 6502, or even a regular, said that, that would be different. At least they have invested the time to come and post, rather than, as I've seen in other rodeos, as I mentioned, the "poop and scoot".

The other manufacturers don't matter when Samsung and Apple run them over, and Samsung running over Apple in marketshare.

Also, the cost, You can get a Note 4 for 649 or 699, but the iPhone 6+ will end up costing at least $250 more... Does not make any sense whatsoever.

Samsung and marketshare shouldn't be used in the same sentence. Ever. That would be like saying Toyota has a higher marketshare than the F-150. Samsung makes how many handsets?

And as for cost, most people get phones on contract, which are almost always the same price. And you can buy outright the iPhone 6 for about the same amount of money, so that again is a moot point.

What's a bbms?

(I chuckled, because I thought it said, "bms", and I thought, "hey! I'm not the only one that uses it in the restroom!"

First of all I don't think making a larger phone is copying. Otherwise Mercedes would copy BMW for having a three door car..

Second, Apple always mentioned a bigger screen. They also said not making one until they found a battery and display that matches up the quality Apple requires in their products.

Third, Apple was not going after Samsung with a larger screen. The market research pointed out that people wanted larger screens. I think that seems logic to actually make one. But again, only when it could live up to the quality they require.

I think that when you can only point out what the 'weaknesses' are in other companies products and not shine your own strengths. There is clearly something wrong with your own product.

I always like to bring up the fact that the iPad came out, and then every other company, including samsung, started making these tablets.

How many people actually do that? Among the non-software developers that I know, nobody would know that there is such a thing as an SD card that you could put into a phone. BTW. Usage of SD cards for storing data on Android is quite restricted (for good reasons).

Anyone who uses a phone as a main photo camera? Honestly 16GB is a pathetic amount of memory these days for everything - it's fine for apps but not for music+photos - and the price Apple asks to pay for additional memory is just crazy (it was always like this)
