Ironically, it was Motorola that introduced it first with its android Atrix phone in 2011. :)

Not the same thing.

1) Touch ID is front and center and integrated into a button you touch anyway. Atrix is hidden in the back on top, where your fingers are NOT.

2) Touch ID uses 2D capacitive sensor that does not require finicky swiping like Atria.

3) Touch ID preserves privacy by using an encrypted and reduced version of the finger print in the secure enclave. Apple has patents on this, which protects privacy and security.

Big differences - Touch ID actually works.

Even if we ignore the technology aspect of Touch-ID compared to other solutions, the main advantage lies in making it actually useful to accomplish something faster and in a more simpler fashion. Start off by unlocking your device for an added layer of protection, move over to payments on the iTunes a multi-billion dollar business and finally open it up to the developer world for a more secure form of communications within apps. Apple Pay takes this to a whole different level. Others can do such level of detailed implementation if they had control over their hardware, software and services. Sammy has to rely on Qualcomm for their flagship chips, google for its software, and has little in terms of services_implementation experience to gather a large coalition of financial companies, retailers under its umbrella, nor does it have the uniformity in products across to board to implement something similar. This aspect of apple's innovation is rarely spoken off, but somehow because they don't have a wacom stylus or because its screen doesn't split into 2 to allow multi app side by side multi tasking they are " not innovating enough". Some even claim that they have become complacent because they haven't upped RAM to 2 GB :).

Exactly! That's why I love Apple.

I love apple too but don't forget the history. When apple was struggling getting people to switch from windows to mac their ads were very like samsung's today. This is just a normal business strategy when a company doesn't have the upper hand in a market. On the contrary, you would never see a dominant company playing this strategy against its competitors because sympathetically this would just make people hate you. Can you imagine Microsoft launch a Switch from Mac to Windows Campaign in their commercial series?

It's telling that Samsung sells more phones yet still feels a need to compare themselves to Apple.

I wish there were a good way for Apple to neutralize these ads without giving Samsung the time of day. Something like "some people feel the need to always compare, we just focus on making the best". Or "Some people consider us their competition, our only competition is mediocrity".

"It's not about getting it first. It's about getting it right." :apple:

Now that Apple makes the iPhone bigger (I have big hands, big feet) I'm already knee deep (big knees) in the Android platform, including having extensive low level development experience with it.

Better luck next time Apple. :apple:

Anything made in 2006 could be tagged as "crap implementation" these days. What Apple had in 2006? iPods (the non-touch ones)?

So, what's Samsung's excuse for their present day, 2014 crap implementation... That's the one I was talking about. The reviews are not kind on their present "try",

First, Samsung supposedly dominates Apple on sales, Android id the dominant platform, so I don't get your point. Secondly, the tone of the Samsung ad is plain nasty to Apple users; the PC guy in the ad received gentle ribbing at most (not PC users). The PC was a personification of the foibles of the PC, not its users.

As the owner of the Note 3, I'm upgrading to the 6S. Why? Touchwiz is one of the worst and most inconsistent versions of Android. I've had nothing but hell for the past year with it. Beautiful display, but that's pretty much it. Multi-tasking is cool, but it limits the apps there. The UI/user interface is just not very smooth or well thought out. They tout features, but those features aren't just ''very usuable''.

The ad has a very good point, especially considering how many reviews blasted the original Note. But then again, it was the first of it's kind so there's a lot of people who are used to big phones (remember the Dell Streak?).

Hardwarewise, the Note is EXCELLENT. But softwarewise, it leaves more to be desired. They really need to get rid of Touchwiz.

Considered installing CyanogenMod?

Considered installing CyanogenMod?

Yeah. But I didn't buy CyanogenMod. I bought a Note 3 with Touchwiz. If feel like I shouldn't have to root the device to make it functional. It just takes away from the package. That's like buying a washer, not liking the way it washes and putting a new motor in.

The difference is they never mocked customers of the competition. They mocked the products. Heck, most people had aggravating experiences with Windows back in the day.

Another difference was that Apple legitimately was an underdog back in 2006. They had small market share and hadn't yet released the game-changing iPhone. Samsung is the largest phone manufacturer in the world. It would almost be like Hertz running ads saying that Avis customers are stupid because their rental company doesn't really try harder.

Yeah. But I didn't buy CyanogenMod.

Good, because it's free.

I bought a Note 3 with Touchwiz.

I think we've established that.

If feel like I shouldn't have to root the device to make it functional.

It *IS* functional though. You just don't happen to like how it functions.

It just takes away from the package. That's like buying a washer, not liking the way it washes and putting a new motor in.

People improve products all the time by acquiring aftermarket solutions. There are people out there who buy android devices just for the hardware then install various things on it to get rid of the crud like Cyanogen mod.

I have had Mac computers since 2008, but the iPhone 4s was the first iPhone that I owned. I do have questions about iPhone vs Samsung that I wish I could get an unbiased opinion about, but all I can find are sites that either A) Hates Apple or B) Loves anything to do with Apple.
Hto Samsung.

I am interested in Apple Pay but I don't know if I trust that either, although it can't be as bad as handing your credit card to someone at a store or restaurant, and I was also one of the people affected by the Target hack, so even big business has security problems with the current system. The gaming advantages that Apple will have probably won't be a big deal with me, as I suck at games so I don't play them.

What are the reasons to buy this iPhone? What do you say to people who A) don't hate Apple but B) would like to know how much the things where Samsung claims to be better either are true, aren't really true, or are just a distortion?

The most compelling reasons to buy the iPhone are a) if you have ties to the iOS ecosystem, and b) if you like getting the best app experience possible. Apple controls both the hardware and software experience, and so they have the most integrated ecosystem out there. There is a reason lots of apps come out on iOS first. But if you find everything you need with Android, that's fine, too. The two platforms have become more similar over the years.

Good, because it's free.

Why do you seem to be so offended that I don't want to put Cyanogen on my Note 3 (althought I have on my Vibrant)?

The fact is that Touchwiz is a bloated mess that isn't designed well. I don't like thinking I hung up on somebody only for the damned touch screen to be frozen all of the time. It just doesn't make sense. I like for things to work when I need it to. I am a very busy person and rooting is not worth my time or money.

I've built my own computer, modded systems and my car. I'm certainly capable of rooting, but I simply don't want to.

Samsung Ad

The iPhone 6 must be an incredible device to stir up such hatred among those unwilling or unable to innovate. Within reasonable limits, any worthwhile tech company can copy or be a supplier. But alas, no matter how difficult and frustrating it can be, we must all learn to live within our talents...

I ordered the new iPhone 6 and am going to get the new Note 4 as well. The Note 4 has more useful functions but the smaller iPhone 6 is Better for basic everyday functions so I will get the smaller iPhone 6 and bigger Note 4. The functions on the Note 4 are ever useful if you need them. I have the Note 3 and use the stylus very often for notes on pictures and behind pictures. What sucks on the Note 3 though is the speaker which has very low audio output volume.

These is so good, watching the "newbies" and the obvious trolls coming here and posting everything they can to make Samsung look good, even FUD.

"newbies" ? interesting slam considering your start date here. FUD? Interesting considering you never replied to the multiple point-outs that your information regarding the Note 4 and it's screen vs the 5s. I won't hold my breath on your credible findings.

Change the way the world pays for things? Maybe in America. I watched their poor-looking informational type presentation and wondered why that woman was swiping a card, signing something and then showing ID. All we do in the UK is put a card in a machine and enter a 4 digit pin. I think some cards even have an NFC style chip on them doing what this phone promises to at a few locations.

I don't have Android but I've seen people use NFC to pay for things? I dunno, now you're being anecdotal so I thought I would be too.

As an Apple fan I'm still waiting on a reason to spend £700 to upgrade my iPhone 4S.

I swipe a card, and enter a 4 digit pin as well. Obviously the presentation for a new payment system has to make the current method look more cumbersome then it really is, but it's still not that far off. Some merchants ask for ID when purchases are over a certain $ amount, etc. Apple Pay seems to have all it's ducks in a row and a nice solid foundation to really change things. And I think it will. So far, android and any other (non traditional) payment method has either failed totally, or isn't widely accepted. Apple Pay is going to change all that. And that's a pretty huge update if you ask me. And if you can't find a reason to upgrade from your 4S, then I don't really know what you expect from a mobile device. What features are you looking for?

here we are again... and its gonna staying a commercial every time we see a new iPhone, cos Samsung just can't help themselves.

I pride Apple for one thing here, they take all the heat and not even worrying about what people even say :) I'd do the same.

Now..lets get to work...

Touch ID always excels on Apple devices, that something Samsung can never get right.. I'm sure they leak as much info as a sieve.

Personally, bashing each other with a mallet like cavemen just doesn't do it for me anymore.... What else is on.....

I wonder if the same percentage of iphone users are on androidcentral.com to spread their hate over android products and users.

to the guy above who recommended cyanogen mod as an improvement over the touchwiz, FLASHING an aftermarket rom and violating the warranty to make it better is quite shameful. I know there are ways to fool the phone into thinking it still has the stock software so you don't loose the warranty, but thats even more shameful yet.

And we iphone users sincerely don't care about sales numbers, specs or when was certain technology used first. What's important is that WE HAVE IT NOW and it works!

Simple as that, doesn't mean we are idiots, sheeps, blind or have low IQ, we simply look for the best smartphone experience. Can you android fanboys respect that decision?

Not true, Galaxy s4 sold 10 million in the first month, galaxy s5 - 16 mil.

Congratulations?

Good news, it leaves more iPhone for the us so the wait is shorter ;)
