So what made you decide to post here if you're enjoying your Samsung Note 3?

Because this is a discussion forum, would you prefer group think? I hope you notice there was more to my post that directly related not only to the ad that was the focus of this thread, but to the iPhone 6 Plus.

Less blind fan-dom and more honest evaluation will force both companies to get better.

Free advertising for Apple. People may not have known about a larger iPhone... until this ad.

Thanks Samsung!

Yeah Samsung has the worst marketing strategy ever. I have not seen a single apple commercial about the larger iPhones but many samsung commercials. They are literally telling a large segment of their own customers:

"You know the main reason you chose us over Apple? Good news, no longer a problem. See you later."

hate to say it but good ad, Apple need to be taught a lesson - LISTEN , I've wanted a larger screen for years, I don't care what pixel count, I don't care how thin it is, jeez the iPhone 1 was brilliant just make it bigger already..finally it's here.

CUT IT OUT PLEASE??? Enough!! The Mac vs. PC ads are not even the same whatsoever. Apple focused on the problems people were having with Windows and they were 100% spot on. Viruses, bloatware, spyware, multiple complicated versions of Windows, no easy out-of-the-box setups, slow downs from registry errors. Those were real issues.

Actually not once did Apple ever say "Microsoft makes a terrible operating system, come use our Macs". Nor did they say Microsoft's OS resembles ours and we came before them so use our Macs. Nor did Apple ever use Social Media posts as a way to embarrass or put down Microsoft.

On top of that, some of you guys need to stop with using the Mac vs. PC ads as a way to attack Apple in defense of Samsung. Makes no sense.
SAMSUNG is attacking Apple. Just because Apple did ads to sell their product over Microsoft's doesn't give Samsung the green light to attack. Samsung is NOT Microsoft so let it go.
Whoa calm down. No need to get your knickers in a twist. Apple did point out Microsoft weak points. As much as you don't want to admit it Samsung has pointed apple's weak points which are a lot of them. That is not to say samsung phones are better or iPhone is better but the iphone and ipad have their issues just like sammy devices do.

And apple didn't calle MS crappy in words but those ads basically did that. They were funny and clever. But they were bashing MS whether you like to admit it or not.

At the end of the day, the Note 4 still runs Android though.... and that will always be a deal breaker for me

Strange, I see all those Android fans just come out of the woodwork on Apple forums ever single launch (and just before).

So anyone who doesn't drink the apple kool aid is an android drone? I'm a tech fan. I like anything and everything. I have an ipad and a galaxy s4. A macbook and all in one pc. I don't discriminate when it comes to tech. I actually look at things unbiased. And anyone thinking with no bias would see the mac vs pc ads were no different than these samsung bashing apple ads. Only difference is it was a computer bashing and not a smartphone bashing fest.

Bickering aside about what Apple may have done in the past with their ads, it is time for Samsung to abandon this method of advertising and instead focus on the benefits and features of their devices.

There are lots of ads for the Note series that show the features and benefits.

Many people around here seem to think that the ads MacRumors write about are the only ones. MacRumors rarely (and rightly so, being an Apple-oriented site) cover the other types of ads - be it from HTC, Sony or Samsung.

I am quite sure Samsung thanked Motorola for that since their Atrix model released early 2011 had a fingerprint sensor.

Odd that they didn't put one on their phones in 2011 then... Yeah, I believe I recall that they put one on in 2014, after the iPhone 5s had one that actually worked well, and one that people actually liked.

If I were to buy such a big phone I would prefer a proper pen than reachability, seems you can do many things w it and is a better feature than reachability. (I have never owned an android phone.)

100% agree. A pen is so useful when you want to use the phone with one hand.

Have to say going from every iPhone up to iP5 then to a Galaxy Note 3 I am impressed enough to stay with it despite Apple now producing a similar size device.

I just can't justify spending £700 on iP6+. In fact the GN3 is so good I doubt I will change to the GN4.

After years of changing and upgrading I have found a satisfactory phone plateau.

Weird timing...

Before these ads, perhaps 90% of potential Note buyers were aware that you can now get an iPhone with a Note-sized screen, but with superior hardware and all of the benefits of the iOS ecosystem.

Now 100% of potential Note buyers are aware of this fact. Smart thinking, Samsung.

i think you mean expensive , cheaply built fridges.

i went to my father-in-laws and he was chucking all his freezer food in the trash and i was like whats going on....he said the freezer was left open for 10 minutes a crack and there is no defroster in the samsung fridge so in the morning everything was warm and garbage.

great deal for a 1500$ fridge.

Daaaaamn!!! Mine's more like a $300 fridge and has a defroster but it's a no frills, tiny fridge that I expect to be crap.

I'm still not gonna buy an iPhone Plus or a Note... 5.5" is waaaay too big for me. Definitely getting the iPhone 6 though, since Apple respects the design of phones with 'smaller' screens and isn't just trolling the 'we did it first' market.

I know a lot of people are like, "so brain washed by Apple!" but really its not about Apple vs Andriod who has a cooler company. For me it's integration with all of Apples products. I love OSX and iOS, everything sync well and there is no conflict with software, no need for 3rd party apps, it all just works well together. Their operating system is secure, I've never caught any viruses and it doesn't crash as much as android or pcs.The biggest thing is that Android doesn't have a PC to connect all its other products together. That's pretty much why I'd prefer their product over android. Oh and i don't like that Android has so much bloatware.

But your post wasn't constructive. It was nothing more than a Samsung fan preaching about his Note 3 and the fact you have no interest in an iPhone. Contrary to your logic that doesn't make for a good discussion on an Apple enthusiast board. You should hang out on the Samsung forums if you want to talk about that. I would love to go on a Samsung forum and tell people I have no interest in a Samsung Galaxy because I'm happy with my iPhone. The response would be brutal.

I'll say this as an apple fan: Samsung has a point. Apple has done nothing new with the new iPhone and what Samsung has done before.

Oh geeez. People bitch about "why can Apple make larger screens" and now they do just that and people bitch and moan. Samsung has zero point. If it weren't for the iphone we'd still be crack-berrying with that stupid trackball.

You can't innovate EVERY year. And innovation like the original IPH comes along every 5-10 yrs and then its all about evolution of that product. Look at the original iPad. Once they revolutionized the tablet, why reinvent the wheel EVERY year? Your logic makes no sense. Nothing new? What about Apple Pay? Using your fingerprint is more secure then using your stupid cc. Its pretty brilliant IMO.

Samsung. Meh. Their products might have better specs but that doesn't mean anything. And for them to boast how Apple 'copied' from them is so so laughable that it makes them look desperate and just childish.

In the end, the solution is simple. You don't buy an Apple product if your not happy with it. No one forces you to buy one. Ever.

Hey, don't be rude. No need for that. You're wrong though. You cannot bring up the Mac vs. PC ads in defense of how people feel about Samsung attacking Apple. Whatever Apple did was towards MS and MS is the only one that should respond. That doesn't give Samsung the right to go after Apple and you're in the complete wrong to bring the Mac vs. PC ads up because they have no relevance to what's going on with Samsung an Apple.
