Why Samsung Why

I think it's funny how this company believes they are ultimately better then someone they copy. That aside, they only make hardware, not software. They are completely dependent on another operating system to make their product great. I truly believe this is why Apple will always have the upper hand. They have so much power controlling both hardware and software. Additionally Android OS and iOS, in a way, derive from the same family.

Wikipedia

Darwin OS:
"Darwin is an open source Unix-like computer operating system released by Apple Inc. in 2000. It is composed of code developed by Apple, as well as code derived from NeXTSTEP, BSD, and other free software projects.

Darwin forms the core set of components upon which OS X and iOS are based."

Android OS:
"Android is a mobile operating system (OS) based on the Linux kernel and currently developed by Google."

Linux:
"an open-source operating system modeled on UNIX."

Side note: The use of a stylus is old fashion. I remember using those on my Pocket PC and Palm Pilot in the 90's. Steve deliberately said that he didn't want stylus when he introduced the iPhone in 2007.

Side Side Note:
Samsung doesn't stop at just phones with Apple.

Can't hate on Samsung too much when it comes to the Note series. They predicted that there would be an audience for large screens and they were right. The anti-Apple commercials definitely reek of jealousy, though.

I had a GS4 - really liked the screen and the hardware (phone), but the touchwiz software was terribly slow making it barely usable. It also seemed to have the "kitchen sink" feature set and I couldn't remember how to use half of them.

I believe that the new iPhone 6 and 6+ has put Android and Samsung in particular on their heels. You have a software that people tend to enjoy and now they have the screen sizes, three of them, to fit whatever style people want. I'd like to see them be more innovative in their ads rather than reactionary -- says a lot about where they view themselves with new competition.

I think that they also did it early to see what kind of feedback they got. There is still time to do a bit of fine tuning. Plus it gets the fashion crowd talking about it, the tech sites, the watch sites, etc. It gives it plenty of time to sink in, and they can also use this info to plan their ad campaign.

Agreed. They also have less to worry about - it will take Samsung a little while to clone it, and Samsung might have trouble selling even an identical clone (to the extent at least some people aspire to Apple products as symbols of status, I don't think the same holds true of Samsung).

I dislike when a company has to resort to making others look bad to sell product.... I'd rather they emphasize their own strengths than others weaknesses

have you not watched an apple event in the last 3-4 years? apple constantly been making fun android and bringing up many issues that doesn't exist anymore. one year apple had a whole skit on how bad android is and how their product is the best thing ever. every company has their marketing strategies and most of them will insult each other including apple.

BAhahaha!

Nice.

When did a Samsung device crash websites with Preorders?

What's laughable about all of this is how no Samsung product has ever brought down Verzion, AT&T, T-mobile's website when preorders opened.

Crushing web servers with preorder demand is the one thing Samsung can never copy from an Apple product.

I wasn't blown away by the :apple:Watch, but I certainly will check it out when it is released. I hope that they will be able to monitor blood pressure and glucose on future models.

This might be true but they are doing this in a developers conference. 99% of the general public will never see these events.

When you have to release a commercial days after an iPhone release saying "we did it first"? They are scared. Yes Apple has done the same in the past, so my post is not 100% correct.

Apples new commercials: Look at how our devices can improve your life
Samsungs new commercials: We did it before Apple. We are better than Apple.

I first thought this when I say the Samsung commercial making fun of people for lining up for the iPhone. They only wish they could pay to have people line up on their launch day

I wonder how long it will take for samsung to transform their galaxy gear to functions like apple watch.....?

They **** all over Android at last year's keynote... I thought it showed more class that they didn't bother this year.

Good catch and good point. They have also taken their jabs at Windows and Microsoft at past keynotes. Jobs has even taken shots at Gates, and they were supposedly good friends.

The truth is, you'd need a legitimate documentary to cover everything that Samsung actually has copied from Apple. Really, this is just a commercial to show how petty Samsung is, claiming to have originated the idea of mobile phones with screens far larger than the norm that had an initially mixed reception, when it was apple that made that move first.

The real kick is, they'll call out Apple while they, and everyone else knows that they aren't worth a quarter of a **** for Apple to respond to it.

Stay classy, Samsung.
You do it so well.
The truth is you sound like a blind fanboy.
I had a Sony Ericsson P800, P910 and Nokia Communicator, (of which theer were quite a few variations long before the iPhone was invented. Even if Nokia and Ericsson were not have been first, Apple were almost last.
Before anybody goes off about the Newton, I had a Psion Organiser too.

I love Apple products but boy am I starting to hate their followers. Especially teh ones who go on about Samsung copying, Samsungs ads, (I’m a Mac/I’m a PC were very petty too). Apple have been there and done that. In fact there is another thing that Samsung has copied well from Apple. How to copy well.
Apple don’t respond because on the whole that is their MO, not because they are above all that - do some research man, or woman.

First to market doesn't necessarily mean best in market.

I would like to be remembered as the one who gets it right, not who gets it first. Anyone can half-ass a product and get it out the door. Apple wants you to remember how they perfected the product.

Once again Galaxy gear is a joke they have sold about as many of them as Walmart sells spinner hub caps for Dodge Caravans.

I think you just contradicted yourself.

Innovation does not equal Invention. People seem to forget this all the time these days. Innovation is not always about something brand new, it's more often about something better, and that's where Apple excels.

You make a good point here. I guess I should re word this the next time I talk about it.

the existence of this thread is free advertising for Samsung as well

it goes both ways

Not really... we all know the G-Note exists and everyone on here is pretty much a tech nerd that prefers Apple over Samsung. Even if MR posted 100 Samsung articles, the general fan base here will say "Apple pwns Samsung" or "Samsung is jealous". While Apple's "attack ads" in the early 2000s were perceived as fun, these Samsung ads as of late just seem a little desperate.

That was pretty funny.

But the truth is Samsung just lost its one edge against Apple with the iPhone 6+. Most people don't know this but, the iphone 5C beat out Android flagship phones when it came out. The 5C for crying out loud!!!

Imagine how Apple will fare with the new iPhones......
