What about base model MacBook 14 and 16 Pros staying with M2 Pro, with BTO option to get M3 Pro or M3 Max? They could limit this to 16" model only (in past the larger MBP had more powerful CPU options if I remember correctly) This would allow them to still sell the M2 models if their yields of M3 are not good enough. Then a refresh in 2024 for the base models to M3...

I just went to apple's website and still shows the MBP as new... One would think they would remove that prior to release of any "newer new" ones.

Maybe with M3 they are able to make an M3 Ultra work in MBP 16" - which would be able to dissipate heat more.

Don't do it.

The best Macs ever made were 2011-2016. I'm still using my 2011 model even though my 2017 has long since failed and been junking and my 2020 (intel model) still runs much worse than the 2011. If the 2011 ever breaks, I'd look for a used pre-2016 model to replace it before buying new.
The 2021 MBP models fixed just about all all those issues…

As for the GPU, my 13" model didn't have the discrete GPU so I don't have the issue, but Apple did extend the warranty and take care of the machines that had that problem.

The replacements were also defective.

And the SATA cables are a known failure point. You not having issues is suspect, but regardless your claim of "best Macs ever" is beyond ludicrous.

Not the first time this has happened.

and where the USB-C port to charge it is not on the bottom of the device? 🤣

They could sell out of initial stock of v3* Magic Mice if they made two changes. Charge port on the front or back, instead of the bottom.. MagSafe charging via a MagSafe mouse pad.

v1 was the AA powered mouse
v2 the current mouse with the Lightning port on the bottom.. smh..

Hey, it takes a lot of computing power to edit all the video shot of the exact moment when a popular YouTube melts a Corvette transmission..
An example where the M3 with improved GPU is needed was yesterday, when I was developing something in Unity on my M1 Studio Ultra. It was going quite slow and seemed GPU related, so tested it out on my PC with the 4090 - the speed difference was actually embarrassing for the mac. I am not expecting 4090 speeds but it would be great if the MBP has something close to a 4070 / 80 or so.

Yawn.

My 2012 MBP lasted until I sold it in 2020. I expect my M1 air to last just as long, if not longer.

Still have my now retired non-retina 2012..

Probably the best Apple laptop I've ever owned.. Although the PowerBook G3/300 (Wallstreet) was amazing at the time..

I was still needing Intel compatibility when Apple switched, so grabbed the last Intel MBP?

I don't expect to hang on to it half as long? I'm thinking that by the time the M4 Pro/Max MBP is out, I'll be upgrading. For MagSafe if nothing else.

But, those in-between years? The butterfly KB years? Apple ignoring customers who paid top dollar for those POS? Claiming the failures were due to abuse? Food? Dust? No, that will be studied in all sorts of classes in the future, re: how you can have a CEO that's a bean-counter in a design-oriented business, as long as they have people who actually care about design to prevent BS like that, or at least care enough to fix it when it does happen. Sadly...

I really only upgrade when necessary. I'm not a pro, power user or gamer, so my computers can last a long time.

..as for the butterfly keyboards, I place 90% of the blame on Ive.

I dunno.. My gut tells me that it's too soon for the M3 Pro/Max - but a *base* M3? That "seems right". New 3nm process means that it's possible that , at the moment, the M3 is "it" for now and maybe in the spring we see M3 Pro/Max. How far along on the ramp-ups for this process has TSMC come? I could be mistaken, but wasn't there a gap between the M1 and the M1 Pro/Max? A new M3 iMac seems like "making up for lost time" - and maybe an Air to go with it - after all, this is online only and no live event. Then, in the spring, the Pro & Max (maybe even an Ultra) make their debut.
The 14” MacBook Pro was just discounted.

Apple is absolutely releasing a new MBP14/16.

Apple may be planning to launch new Mac models announced at its "Scary Fast" event on Wednesday, November 8, MacRumors has learned.

scary-fast-apple-event-feature.jpg

At the start of the month, MacRumors reported that Apple was proceeding with plans to announce at least one new Mac model in October. Apple yesterday announced its "Scary Fast" event for Monday, October 30, featuring a Finder hint, which virtually confirms the arrival of new Macs. Now, related information provided to MacRumors suggests that new Mac models could launch on Wednesday, November 8 – nine days after the "Scary Fast" event.

While Apple product launches often take place on a Friday, there is precedent for Apple opting for the first Wednesday in November following an October event. For example, at its "There's more in the making" event on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, Apple announced new iPad Pro models. The machines launched on Wednesday, November 7 – eight days later.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that Apple's upcoming event will focus on new MacBook Pro models with M3 series chips, which could include the 13-, 14-, and 16-inch models with the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max chips. In addition to these machines, a new iMac featuring the M3 chip is also on the table for announcement at the event.

The M3 chip is widely expected to be fabricated using TSMC's 3nm process for performance and efficiency improvements compared to the current, 5nm-based ‌M2‌ chip, which debuted in June 2022. It will also likely feature an all new GPU with hardware ray-tracing, first introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro's A17 Pro chip last month.

That’s the finder logo. But more importantly that the Mac OS logo from 1998 to 2002, which was the prime iMac era. Makes me lean towards iMac 🖥️ featured release. Or it’s just supposed to look like a festive Jack-o-lantern. 🎃

Imagine its the Jony Ive macbook 13 with a new borderless 120hz screen, that would be interesting, It can't just be me that preferred that m1 macbook in design, not to mention it doesn't overheat like the m2 does, which about heat, is the overheating on the pro max iphone in any way related to the 3nm process ? Anyone with the update here to testify it still going on ?

Also what if Apple finally gives in on their memory and storage markup , imagine a 16gb 1tb as the base , wiiiillld , hehe . Honestly that should be the bare minimum on a new laptop with 32 2tb being the next step up .

Longer than that. That logo was the boot screen in System 7. Released in 1991.

An M3 Pro in the iMac would be an amazing option.
Unless the size of the Pro chip and it’s heat shrunk with the M3 evolution (unlikely) or they increased the interior volume of of the 24” iMac chassis to accommodate a larger logic board/heat sink (also unlikely after just 3 years) an Mx Pro in a 24” iMac was never a possibility.
