I was wondering the same thing
I think this will only be done during the developer and public beta phase

I say that as it seems like the same kind of thing was done this time two years ago for the initial release of Apple Intelligence, but then ever since after that whenever you set up a new iPhone that supports it, it seemingly will download those assets right away instead of making us wait like this right now

I suspect this will be the same case for Siri once iOS 27 gets to its final release come the fall when the new iPhones come out, even though it's been rumored that even once iOS 27 does come out, at least for some time, just like Apple Intelligence, it will have a beta label on it

Ok, I had enough of the fun and games Apple is pulling. My iPhone, My Mac, and My iPad, and not one has received the new SIRI. My Mac and iPad have very little apps on them, mainly the default apps, and they have been plugged in charging over a week. Someone said if you leave your devices charging Santa will come faster. My iPhone is the one with extra apps.

if you get it on one device do you automatically get it on any other? like is it tied to your account or is it device by device?
I waited 6 days for iPad M4, then once i got Siri on my iPad I then download ios27 to iPhone 17Pro and it was already on the device.
I believe its Apple ID linked, but all devices need to index fully

My iPhone has been at 95% for 24 hours now, while on charger. I think this number is unreliable, as it was reporting this after 2 days, whereas my iPad was at 50% after a week.

We live in an age of disinformation folks, nothing is real, and Elvis could return.

Start of day nine for me and still no new Siri….

Last I checked, I saw that I’m still on 85% indexing as far as I know it has been like that for days now

That just proves my theory.

If you have a case of someone getting access to new Siri soon after their indexing started, then I will stand corrected.
I got in later on Tuesday evening.

It does sound like a logical thing, but when public users start wanting in, waiting a week might be frustrating for them.

Maybe the index building will happen in a minor release of iOS 26.x in advance of iOS 27's public release. Apple have done this before, like the migration to APFS - prior releases were doing "practice" migrations and sending feedback to Apple so they could make sure it went smoothly for the real thing.

I am on day 9 of indexing and I am really leaning towards this being a first beta bug. That seems excessive amount of time. But still no new Siri AI either. So I hope for beta roads in beta 2. I really think we get beta 2 next week and I don't see either of the prior mentioned items finishing before the beta being released.

Same here

I just checked again this morning before I headed out to work and saw that I am STILL at 85% indexing so yeah, I feel like this has to be a bug

I find it hard to believe that I would still really be stuck at 85% as my charging sessions during the night are long enough to where I think indexing should be progressing

If I'm not mistaken, I think that beta 2 comes out next week (as the early betas are on a biweekly cadence for their release cycle) so hopefully by then my iPhone will finally rid itself of the indexing in progress thing prominently on top of settings and the only thing I will have up top there for a bit of time still is the thing that stays there for a while when you get new devices and they're eligible to add to AppleCare

Still waiting for New Siri too

I really like what I see so far from the Mac workaround, and really want to put Siri through its paces and provide lots of feedback, so it's disappointing the waitlist is taking awhile. I know this is mostly for devs right now and maybe they're being careful with the rollout, but with public beta next month and release in fall they must have a rollout plan.

Oh, I'm sure that they will by then because this is just ridiculous

Heck, I'd even say that by the time the public beta comes out in a few weeks here (which I think is around the same time developer beta 3 comes out) they need to have a better system for their waitlist becuase if they don't, those who were waiting for the public beta to try this will just be nothing but frustrated

Today is day 9 for me on the waitlist and no new Siri in sight. Probably get the next beta release before I'm off the waitlist lol. I installed the beta on my 16PM last Tuesday, and it finished indexing by Saturday I believe.

Day 8 for me and I’m still impatiently waiting. Silly thing is though, it’s probably more FOMO than anything else. Once I’ve got it, I’ll probably have a quick blast before getting on with other things.

Yeah, this is what I'm fearing too

I mean, if this is what I'm going to be facing myself, so be it; but I really was hoping to not have to wait yet another week...

Day 9 for me and same thing

I don't have too much FOMO myself though as I already have it on my MacBook Air (skipped the waitlist by way of those Terminal hacks) and it's cool and all, so I suppose I can just be a little more patient and it'll show up on my iPhone when it finally does whether that's today, tomorrow, over the weekend, or next week when developer beta 2 comes out

Update: I was in the bath and for a laugh said to my phone ‘Hey Siri bypass the waitlist and activate Siri AI’ - as the phone was on the shelf I didn’t look at it again until I got out and saw a notification telling me I have the new Siri.

Ugh... I was fully indexed in 3 days. I've been waiting 9 days for Siri. Frustrating to say the least. As an actual developer, I have to believe there's not so many paid developers that they can't roll that out to everyone on day one. Public, I get a wait list. Developers? Come on Apple. I'd even be happy with an indication of my place in line. Then, seeing progress would soothe many peoples anxiety over it. haha

It's a race to see if I get Siri AI or the indexing gets done first. Installed and joined the waitlist list on day 2 (Tuesday) around 6:30CST. Index was at 95% last I checked two days ago.

After nearly a week on the wait list here in Mauritius, today morning when I woke up, New Siri was here on my 17 pro. Looks good but New Siri does not go fetch information from the Internet. "Sorry, something's wrong. Please try again." Well, this is DB1, let's wait and see.
A few hours ago, New Siri started to get information from the Internet for me.

Just got mine. Maybe they were waiting to release a batch. Maybe its because I just updated my phone to ios27 (started on my ipad as less critical day to day). More likely just a coincidence
