Who the **** wants to zoom in the home screen?

People who — like me — have poor eyesight, perhaps?

And Microsoft is wrong — it is indeed possible to zoom in on the home screen of an iPad (though it's done by tapping rather than pinch-and-zoom).

You activate it in the Accessibilities settings.

When Microsoft begins supplying lighter fluid with their Windows 8 devices . . . . only then will those units be a complete package.

Every time I am forced to deal with Windows 8, I have the overwhelming urge to set my hair on fire and run screaming from the building.

Once again, Microsoft provides a worthwhile benchmark . . . . for what a steaming pile of fail should look like.

I personally don't like it when any company makes obvious references to competitors (yes mac vs pc counts too). They will undoubtedly focus on a couple of minor flaws in one device, and base those minor details on why their product is better. It's really misleading because I'm sure there's plenty ways the iPad is better than this device.

In the case of Mac vs. PC ads, Apple was focusing on the inherent problems with Windows and the most prominent issues people had with Windows.

Apple wasn't being petty by saying, "The Mac can do drag n drop installation vs. PC needing a Registry and an install shield". This Microsoft ad is exactly that, being petty. "Oh I can zoom my icons, you can't". Gimme a friggin break Microsoft, grow up and hire a better marketing dept.

Microsoft is on the right track. For a first generation device, Surface Pro is just marvelous! It will only improve with time. The concept is excellent.

Windows + Windows Phone + Office + Skydrive +Outlook + Xbox integration will be great!

On the right track? Have you seen their new xbox?

Microsoft can poke all the fun they way. I was at the Apple Store in Stanford Mall a couple of days ago: pretty crowded as usual, and on a Wednesday evening: looking and buying.

Right next door, there's a big Microsoft store: the only people there were employees. Didn't see even ONE customer inside. You'd think people considering a phone or tablet or laptop would check out both stores. Well, think again.

The "I can do everything you can do better" marketing approach makes them seem so desperate and unoriginal that it kind of hurts. Apple takes the high road in their marketing, and it shows in the quality of their products why. When you make something awesome, you don't need to justify yourself constantly through comparison.

Anyone who has a point and shoot digital camera is familiar with an SD card. I'd guess there are a few hundred million of those cameras worldwide. Can't get much more average than that, can you? And most every smartphone in the world has a micro SD slot. Except the iPhone, of course.

For all your Apple hate, you must have forgotten about the Android devices without microSD slots:

HTC One, Nexus 4, 7, 10, Nexus Galaxy, Nexus S

Oh and Windows Phone can't be left out either. Nokia Lumia 920.

I am sure there are others I missed.

So it's ok for Apple to flaunt Windows weaknesses in their ads, but not the other way around?

Let's be real. 99% of the world uses a smartphone (most of them iPhones) for taking photos with a photo syncing service a la 'Camera Upload' in Dropbox. With iDevices you have Photo Stream. Zero work has to be done to transfer those photos.

For the 1 time a year your average user needs to plug in an SD card into an iPad, there is the Camera Kit. Don't make it seem like it's impossible.

Wow, you best write to Canon, Nikon, Sony and all the other DSLR manufacturers to present your wisdom ... Only 1% of people use real cameras. As for all the MILLIONS of photographers out their that do use 'real' cameras (with SD cards), an SD slot would be a boon on the iPad to save using the adapter (as I do A LOT).

Any more stupid posts on here .... Let me see ....

Pretty sure Apple can go after Microsoft for libel here:

1 - It can zoom. It's an accessibility feature.
2 - There's an adapter you can use to insert an SD card if you're so inclined.

And regarding the prior ad from Microsoft:
3 - Microsoft Office is available for iOS

Microsoft isn't blatantly lying to make their own products sound better than they are - they're doing worse: blatantly lying to make someone else's sound worse than they are.

Lets also add that the product is listed to be 32gb, but the OS takes about 16gb of space.

So true. Imagine adding 128GB to an iDevice for much less than $100: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/PNY+-+1...XT&srccode=cii_9324560&cpncode=30-201342134-2 6-18 months from now, you could probably pop that one out and add a 256GB for about the same price the way SD card prices fall and fall and fall. 384GB iDevice anyone (not for $<iDevice price> plus about $200 times 3)?

I'm not loving Windows or Windows tablets. But I can love some features that Apple could build into their iDevices if they would choose to do so. Instead, ALL of us must live without because- per you apparently- Apple is so successful as a business, whatever they choose to include or leave out is best for everyone. Koolaid at its best.

Good try, but (as far as I know) Android mobile computing devices use MICRO SD, not the bigger SD. Those only go up to 64gb I believe.

Edit: Also, I'm not sure there is a big demand for THAT much storage on mobile devices. Sure, some people want it. But I bet if they introduced a 128gb iPhone, it would be the lowest selling device by quite a bit.

What does an SD card slot have to do with Apple hate? I think if you go back to where I entered this discussion you will so it was pertaining to someone claiming that SD cards are useless.

the MS tablet is pure trash, Ive played with it, its junk magnified.

However, im sure some knuckle dragging ape-minded moron will buy into the BS of this commercial

An acquaintance forces his family to only use M$ and droid crapware. His wife looks to our idevices wishing to have them. There are those who would rather eat dirt (or use a ms tablet). Oh well, to each its own.

Well , it is nice this ad. Anyway i like a lot better Macos than WIN8. I am a Mac user from 1989.
On the other hand let's face it. iOS 7 is a sum of small importance jailbreak tweaks of cydia. Maybe apple has to do a little bit more of innovation. Like when presented TimeMachine , a whole new way to do a backup. That is innovation. Anyway, hope to get something better in ios7 final.

Might want to recheck your research with that 99% figure. Lots of people use real cameras to take much better pictures than any cell phone can achieve. There is a real need for an SD slot on the iPad for lots of people. I have the adapters, but that's just BS and another way to get $ out of my pocket.

You can buy adaptors for microSD cards to use in a camera or device that takes full-size SD cards.

While true, for serious photographers that means making compromises. Full size SD cards simply offer better (and cheaper) capacities and speeds than their microSD counterparts.

Another dumb post ... You best spread your wisdom to Canon, Nikon, Sony and all the other DSLR manufacturers ... Plus the x million photographers in the Uk/US who buy 'real' cameras.

Any other idiot coments on here ... Let me see!
I love your ability to copy and paste

So instead of complaining that ipad doesn't have an sd slot why not buy an adaptor from Apple without the need for a useless port. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC531ZM/A/apple-ipad-camera-connection-kit

I never once complained about the iPad not having an SD slot. I replied to a few of your posts stating that SD cards are useless, nobody uses them, etc. You're the one trying to justify why the iPad doesn't have one and claiming that it is stupid for a Windows tablet to have one.

You know Bill Gates? :D
