Just got off the phone with CPW and the guy I spoke to said that mine was on back order and I would definitely get it on friday, I asked him to confirm and he said it was "100%" that I'd get one.

No, I will let it be until either O2 online works, or they don't have it on Friday AM, might be able to just get one in store with minimal fuss. I ordered one to go to the CPW store so maybe I will just get lucky?

Really peeved as I have been in the library all morning, and their wifi has been down so I have just been working, thinking O2 are usually pretty good at all this, I expressed an interest, I am an O2 customer, will be easy...

Presumably you didn't have to run through a credit check then? I opted to get it delivered at home (therefore had to run the credit check to setup the contract).
Are you running the risk if you place an order via O2 later that you'll signup for two contracts (if the CPW comes through - or am I being silly).

Got a confirmation email!

After trying since 8.20am, about 15 text checks & multiple drop outs to the 'failover' site I just got a confirmation email saying its being processed (and I can login to the order tracking at O2 to verify).

However, I never got a confirmation screen during the online process to say it had completed - the nearest I got was getting through the proper process right up to the final confirmation screen before it bugged out.

No idea how many orders I may actually get now, but I don't care - I'll have a 16GB iPhone3G on Friday. Yay!

Instead of complaining that it keeps crashing, wouldn't it make sense to stop trying to make an order?? All you're doing is overloading their servers more by trying and trying....it's obvious its broken and continued trying will more than likely make it worse, no??

24 texts now on my Phone. Looks like we've hit the lunchtime rush - not getting anywhere now.

I am so hacked off, I figure getting one will be difficult, canceling contracts is easy. If they don't have my phone in stock on Friday morning then I will either cancel. They should know how long it might be by then. I did do the whole credit check, and dd setup. Also somehow clicked the wrong tariff. What a bad day this is turning out to be.

And I have done no revision for the last 3 hours, hitting refresh again and again instead.

This is stupid, why do I do this to myself.

It is an absolute disgrace, O2 should be publically humiliated over this! They have had nearly 3 months to prepare their site, build the quantity of demand via the "register your interest" pages and today I have 25 SMSs with my code and the site crashes each time I try it!!

It is not a point of whether there are 3G iPhones to satisfy demand, it is simply poor use of IT and infrastructure on O2's part. You build your upgrade website, you test it way beyond perceived uptake(and they should be able to estimate the upgrades as they know how many iPhones they have already sold), and you ensure it can scale to demand. If they run-out of 3G's, then post an out-of-stock message.

Anyone who blames Apple on this is frankly out of sorts with reality, it has nothing to do with Apple this is O2's site and the product it is selling is immaterial!

Come-on O2, we deserve better than this!

I think I'm going to sit tight on the order with Carphone Warehouse. It seems to me (but I'd appreciate confirmation from a source high up in Apple/02/Carphone Warehouse) that the problem is not with supply, but demand (and a badly designed 02 order website).

The impression I got from Carphone Warehouse was that the phone would not pass through their hands at all, and that orders would be fulfilled by overnight shipping the phones from the same location as 02 orders.

I suppose we'll see on Friday...

I might just be me being a bit old, but i wouldn't trust anyone from CPW or O2 as far as i could throw them!

Rereading this - I can't believe how Apple can make me act this way. I'm the absolute laughing stock in the office, yet somehow don't care at all and feel like a 5 year old on Christmas eve...

Right with you. However I've got a 2G 8gb iPhone I want to sell before everyone gets their new phones, if I list it on ebay tonight and the CPW doesn't come through, i'm without a phone :(

Wrong price on o2 online registration

oops ... ignore .... I mis-read the webpage

The upgrade site is certainly a lot busier now. I haven't been able to get past the "request update code by txt" page for 30 mins now...

I got to screen where I put all my details in andclicked send.. No confirmation screen just went back to main screen... Was this your experience? Had no confirmation email yet though :(

I always thought blue was a calming colour.................until today.

Why oh why oh why didn't my previous provider Vodafone just secure the iPhone deal!!! Seven years with Vodafone and never a problem, 7 months with O2 and nothing but problems................
