Just got this using the failover form: "Thank you for your order. We are processing this and will contact you if there are any complications with the details you have provided."

Do you guys think that I have successfully ordered?

Me too. Not holding my breath!

I got that after I had ordered about 10 mins ago, but just as people started posting "out of stock" messages. Given I have no email and the "Track my order" page is clear, I suspect they just posted that because site traffic deminished, or because they have pulled their "core" online upgrade pages and this is all that was left!

I have little or no faith that this will result in an order, but good luck to you, hope you get one!

Worked for me...

I know that it seems like a lot of you guys are having real trouble - and I really don't want to gloat, but the process has worked for me, and I thought it might be note worthy to let you know what happened:

7:36am - recieved an email saying that 'The iphone is here' and 'taking online orders from 8am'.

8:20am - woke up, check email (no idea why, must have been a sign!) started online form filling. Selected 16gb black.

8:48am - Thank you for your O2 order email. "We're just currently processing your request and we'll be in touch shortly to let you if it's been accepted and when it will be dispatched."

1:15pm - Phone call from a very nice lady at o2, credit check with driving licence and/or passport. Address check with credit card. All okayed. Confirmed that iphone will be with me before 10am (additional cost of £10) on Friday. Try not to get too excited or tell anyone for fear of being called a loser/being mugged/spat on/counting chickens before they've been delivered.

14:20pm - Read posts about poor pre-order service from o2. Feel guilty that its been so smooth for me.

14:30pm - Write this post, and hope that O2 corrects the proceedure so that everyone shares the same experience as me.

14:35pm - Realise that I'm actually employed and should do some work or I won't be able to pay for my contract...

FYI, I'm a new o2 customer, moving over from Orange. I was planning to buy from the store, but decided to preorder when the email came through.

I hope this helps/is of some interest/doesn't fuel any rage!

not convinced this will result in an iphone though!!

Utterly disappointed, can't believe wasted 6 hours on a process which was supposed to be easier done online.

Can't wait till the time when Iphone is not exclusively on O2.

Argh. I am on hold.

I'm going to pay however much it is, to cancel the accounts.

Buy the iPhone from Apple. Unlock it. Get a vodafone sim only contract.

Most of the problems people have been having are with the upgrade system. Anyway hope you get your phone.

Obviously very few of you have tried to buy Glastonbury tickets online. It's just the same...

I remember at one company I worked at in Oxford, the announcement was made:

"Whoever called the Glastonbury ticket number 1000 times with redial, please own up"...

After waiting on hold for god knows how long, I've been cut off. This just gets worse and worse!

NNNNNNNNnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

now off totally

just been to the upgrades page - now it is just giving an out of stock message. Not even the failover page

How childish. Please don't. Why don't you write them a rational and thoughtful letter, which is bound to be more persuasive than an emotional rant to an innocent customer services person, and has the added benefit of not blocking the telephone lines for those of us who might need to discuss aspects of our order over the phone.

Er, Did you spend 6 hours trying to get through? Are you on valium? I work in a call centre. Nothing gets done unless people complain. A 'Thoughtful' letter will take days to get through. The problem is now. How terribly british you are. Don't be a doormat.

Please form an orderly queue... ;)

But anyway, 'now' is overrated. Today's now is tomorrow's yesterday.

Wow, that's profound.

Just gone in to try again to order on O2 website; and they're now showing a banner which reads "Due to huge demand we're currently out of stock online"... B******s! Been trying since 8.30 this morning and still not got one!!! I give up (not that i've got much choice!)..... :(

Bollox.

Now the store is closed they say they are out of stock and we need to come back the 10th of july for mor einfo

Mmm, that £35 per month plan looks like the 'sweet spot' in their tariff range.

For all of you who have been waiting on the phone for 6 hours or more, you can feel relieved knowing that it takes 24 hours to fly to New Zealand from London. So it's all been worth it. Unless, of course, you still haven't placed your order. In which case, get on the plane now. You might still make it.

what is the f'in point in having this fancy page, when i could have put all my details in the 'failover' form 6 hours ago!!!

i have just done it now and succeeded.. well according to the 'thankyou for your order' screen.. my guess is now that o2 will find yet another way to piss us all off..
