If thats the reason, I can kinda understand it from a Sci-Fi Channel standpoint - but it just plain sucks for us viewers!
I'll be buying season 2 on DVD from the States even before it finishes airing over here....
Still no confirmation on the January start for season 2 on Sky...

I can't believe that they have stopped airing episodes though mid season two!!!!

ooh, that sucks man. Season 2 was great. We get it on DVD in the states in Dec I believe, it had one hell of a cliffhanger!

Not for us in the UK - I had to buy the mini series separately. And it was a bit of a basic release as well, just the disk and case - no in-sleeve booklet etc.

Is the US release of Season 2 going to be the complete release or Set 1 of 2 (i.e. due to the split in airing)? If its the complete series (which I doubt) I'll be ordering on release, but if its split I'll wait until Blighty gets a release...

I have the regular boxed season 1 from Amazon, and it comes with the mini series too.

Adam
I've read there are two box sets. One includes the mini-series, the other does not. Could you give us a product number or something, so we know we're ordering the correct set?

Time to resurrect (pun intended if you've seen the recent episode :D) this thread methinks!
So everyone who has been on tenderhooks has seen episode 11 "Resurrection Ship"... opinions?
Seemed to go so quickly and I had no idea it was only part 2 of 3!!
Can't believe that Cain has become so blinded to everything esle but the war on Cylons - her treatment of civilians as told by her SIC was not pleasant.
With the double cross/assassination plots part 3 should be something special!
And looks like Adama and Rosslin are getting closer....

I loved how they set up Cain and Adama's double-crossing each other... it's like they were BOTH thinking exactly the same thing, but with one difference... Cain's gonna use a whole squad of Marines with her SIC leading the attack (and he's shown signs of weakness, esp. when drinking with Tigh... looks like the man's conscience is wearing on him), and Adama's just gonna use Starbuck (a much finer surgical tool than a whole squad of Marines).

The big question, I think, is what minor difference is going to save Adama (geez, he's the series' star, he can't really die) and set up Starbuck (or whoever) to get alone with Cain so she can utter "Frak you" before (presumably) she's arrested or killed?

BTW, Tricia Helfer is as hot as ever. James Callis is a lucky actor. ;)

Good points on the double cross. I have seen some pics from the next episode, and have some idea on how Starbuck may accomplish her goal - but I ain't spoiling it for you!
If the plot goes along the lines of the original series, Pegasus can't survive. As this is more than likely to be the case, I'm hoping Galactica absorbs Pegasus' Vipers - god knows they don't have that many pilots or ships...

Last night series two began over here. Another good advertising campain with all of the major characters taking part in the purpose made trailer, interjected with quotes from reviews from major newspapers - its about damn time a good sci-fi series gets the kudos it deserves.... mind you they are few and far between.

And damn straight on the Tricia Helfer comment! Not particularly a blondes man, but she just about ticks every box there is :D

well part 2 has come and gone.

A few questions, was that the season final episode?

also what do you think they are going to do with the Pegasus, they will have to come up with a way for them to go their seperate ways or have the Pegasus destroyed as I doubt they are going to change the name to "Battlestar Galactica & Pegasus" also the episode from the first series that this is based on, the Pegasus had already been terminated. Any ideas?

We still have several episodes remaining in season 2.

As far as the fate of the Pegasus goes, I think we'll be seeing them around for a while... but I agree that at some point, the Pegasus will be lost in some sort of battle with the Cylons.

(In the Original Series, the Pegasus was "lost" again, not destroyed. Back in the 1970's, apparently radio hadn't been invented.)

And speaking of the Cylons, now what? Their Resurrection ship has been destroyed, along with the two base stars that were protecting it. Surely it's going to take some time for them to muster new forces to attack the Colonial Fleet, so I predict that now we're going to see a lot of tension between the humans (President Roslin, Baltar, Tom Zarek, etc.).

But it's a good thing that it was Number Six who killed Cain... if Starbuck had done it, there would have been a LOT of tension between the Galactica and the Pegasus.

What's next? (possible spoilers)

Well, look at where we are and what last night's preview showed:

Starbuck is still the Pegasus CAG. Apollo was demoted to Lt and is still on the Pegasus.

President Roslin is dying.

The Resurrection Ship is gone. Every Cylon who is killed now dies a True Death. tm (ala Roger Zelazny's "Lord of Light". Truthfully, there are lots of similarities between BsG and Lord of Light.)

If Boomer didn't lie there are 8 Cylons in the Colonial Fleet and an unknown number aboard the Pegasus. (including the old Pegasus CAG. Didn't you notice how familiar he looked?)

From next week's preview, Boomer's Human-Cylon hybrid baby will play a critical role in curing Roslin.

Does Pegasus stay with the fleet or does Starbuck convince the new Commander that they need to return to Caprica to liberate her friends?

Relationships, relationships, relationships. Adama/Roslin. Apollo/Starbuck/Dee. Apollo/Dee/Billy. Helo/Boomer/Chief Tyrol. Baltar/Number 6/Noncorporeal Number 6.

Politcs. Succession plans for Roslin, Tom Zarek, Baltar.

So much to work with. So little season left...

Just seen part 2... this show just gets better and bucks what people expect from sci-fi! Just when you get to an episode which would be full of special effects, and assault on the Base Stars and Resurrection Ship only plays as a backdrop.
There will be presidential elections coming up, as I've seen a prop, but thankfully they blurred out the names...

The Pegasus can't stick around. And Apollo needs to be re-promoted back to Captain and CAG of the Galactica. Not sure about the Dee/Apollo storyline though. But the competition between the rescued Six and the non-corporeal Six to be very interesting!

It appeared to me that the non-corporeal Six "died" in the same way that Brad Pitt's Tyler Durden "died" in Fight Club when Edward Norton realized that he could be killed psychologically... Baltar's embracing of the real Six effectively snuffed out the delusion of Six inside his head.

Or so I surmised.

I'd wait to see if that happens - I don't think they're going to be happy if they find out that Baltar hid her and goes and sees her often - especially since he's vice president - soon to be pres when she dies :D

Its a good show and I hope we get more than a few episodes before the season ends.

According to IMDb's "Guest Appearances" page for Battlestar Galactica, we have 8 more episodes in season 2.

I was thinking the same thing about the non-corporeal Number 6. But I sort of doubt that she is gone from his mind for ever.

I think that in another episode it was revealed that there were 8 Cylons left in the fleet (not the Boomer episode).

Had a hunch that the prisoner Number 6 would be the one to kill Cain.

I came to the same conclusion just before I fell asleep last night! I was thinking about Baltar saying back what non-corp Six said to him about sports... and came to the conclusion that the non-corp Six is in fact a fragment of his psychological makeup... hence her not being around when he finished the statement. Backed up by the fact that the Doc couldn't find anything on a scan (although it could be an organic construct..)
Mind you I then thought about the whole saga on Kobol (spelling?) and the visions he had (through her?) of the Great Hall and the baby... so I'm not too sure now...

There are definately 8 left in the series - they've already been funded for as many. I've also heard that they've been picked up for Series 3, but I'd need to confirm that.

Can't believe no one posted about this... pretty good episode, a LOT of stuff happened.

  • Baltar came thisclose to becoming president... Roslin was on the verge of death, but Baltar discovered that the Cylon/human fetus Sharon is carrying has "hybrid blood" with amazing curative properties. Roslin's cancer is GONE.
  • The nuke that Baltar "borrowed" for his Cylon detector research is now in the hands of the real Number Six... courtesy of Baltar. Number Six is running the "peace movement" that seeks to make peace with the Cylons.
  • Baltar discovered from Roslin's death letter (which he should NOT have read) that Roslin doesn't really trust him as a leader... he's too self-absorbed. I fear that Baltar has now swung over to the dark side for good.

So what does this mean for the Prophecy? Wasn't Earth (or the way to Earth) supposed to be found by a leader who wouldn't live to see it?
Just when you think Baltar is discovering some humanity saving Roslin, he wigs out and gives a nuclear warhead to an unhinged Cylon. What a clot.

Next weeks looks very very interesting! This series is really moving on at a fair pace... even an episode which I thought would be run at a more sedate paace, was in fact quite non stop.... 45 min went by in a flash!

And they can't keep Boomer in the cage all of the time surely. At some point will they truely trust her and let her fly again?

Or the Friends-Of-Cylons manages to help her make a jail brake.

There all sorts of things that could happen and I'm really looking forward to it. But the President now knows via her flash backs while sick that Baltar has had relations with #6 in the past - should prove for some fun.

D

I'm really looking forward to how all the Baltar thing will play out... probably Roslyn will tell Adama, and they'lll keep it hush for a while.

I'm downloading the podcast to see the episode again with the commentary... I did that with the Pegasus & Resurrection Ship episodes, and it is amazing the additional depth that it gives to the episodes.
