Nah...they're going to find a fully staffed gambling casino, complete with an all-girl singing group. With two mouths for each girl! But stay out of the elevators...there's a dark secret waiting for you if you miss the stop for your lodgings.

But seriously, an awesome episode. Hera? Cast down the river like Moses. Number 3, let my people go!

Nice retro call there! :D

Just seen it, and despite loving the more tense series of episodes since the arrival of Pegasus, and thinking that this episode would be a little slow for my tastes after reading the synopsis, I too was blown away. Brilliant epsiode!

IIRC we've got a normal length episode next week anda 90min episode the week after... and sources point to a possible fracturing of the fleet... with clayj mentioning the habitable lanet, now I know why!

BRING IT ON!!!

Already looking forward to series 3...

This series surprises me. I jumped on my seat the first time Baltar shows up on Six's resurrection... he being a Cylon would tie up a lot of things!

I am still expecting Billy to show up, proving that he was a Cylon. And we'll see how Baltar will handle things now that his Six is pissed and won't give him more advice!

Can't wait for next weeks episode!

Great episode...
and now that we have seen the No. 3, 5, 6, 8 models I think...
I was half hoping we would see glimpses of at least some of the other model numbers in the cafe or in other scenes!!! But alas no.
sigh I don't want this season to end just yet though!

For those old enough to remember:

"Welcome to the Village. I am Number 2".

"Who is Number 1?"

"You are Number 6". (Or was that "You are, Number 6"?)

But back to the subject at hand. There does seem to be something of a Cylon hierarchy. The higher numbers seem to have less authority. You have to wonder if Baltar is Number 1 or 2, if he's a Cylon.

Manipulating both sides

OK, this week's episode was excellent, as usual. I'm really looking forward to next week.

Anyone else get the feeling that they're still mining the original series for ideas?
Chief Tyrol talking to a priest, who tells him the gods don't listen. Then effectively telling him that there's no difference between a Human and a Cylon. And this whole device of Baltar seeing #6 when she isn't there, and now Caprica 6 seeing Baltar.

It's "War of the Gods" all over again. Baltar's #6 may as well be Count Iblis.
Another tale of good vs. evil. It's just not clear who represents which side.

Another good episode, but it did feel lik it was just setting thigs up for next week. And by the promo for the next episode looks like Baltar wins the election...
I wonder if Caprica 6 and Caprica Sharon show up on Caprica. Anders surely must say something after seeing Helo's Sharon...

That's all it was. Setup. But just about anything can happen this Friday. Let's hope it's worth the payoff; Ron Moore's sending out lots of ominous warnings (especially on his podcast) that everything changes by the end of the show.

Even BSG setup is better than most TV out there.:)

No kidding! This show rocks. I've been hooked since a friend told me to rent the DVDs of the first season. Since I don't have cable I was worried I'd have to wait, but the now that I can download it from iTunes I feel better. :) I suspect Helo's gonna get bumped off on Caprica and his Sharon will go nuts. Anybody else?

We'll find out tomorrow! (For you, um, the day after tomorrow, because you'll be watching it off of iTunes...)

Argh! Can't wait!

oh dear christ.

i honestly believe i may no longer watch BSG, despite it being my favorite show up until now.

the first 60 minutes were great. the last 30 lost me entirely.

i don't know whether to be disgusted or enthralled.

what was up with that one year later crap?

its almost as if they're setting it up as a dream sequence or something - but they can't do that - it would make things even worse.

i don't frakking get it....

The worst part is there won't be any new episodes till *October*!?!?!?

Bleh

Dr. Who starts next week - that could be fun.

D

i don't get it either... i mean, i can't believe they just changed the show that much, but i guess they did...

and the wait till october's a bitch too. oh well, at least the good ol' reliable stargates are back in june.

What's not to get? I found everything to be crystal clear.

Several times I found myself saying, "Oh, no, they didn't. Oh, yes, they did!"

Best line: "I'm the president. I don't have to listen."

Yeah, but he should have.

I found it clear too. I just wonder where they're going to go next. The Cylon master plan would seem to have been screwed by Caprica 6 and Tyrol 8 developing a conscience. The Cylon atheist priest said they had abandoned the colonies, and yet here they are. Clearly their new goal is to spread God's love among the heathen humans by controlling them. Except for the 10,000 people who jumped away with all of the remaining tech.

And what happened to the Cylons who didn't agree with the war heroes?

I suspect we're about to get a new allegory for next season, probably one that parallels Iraq or Vichy France. I just hope they can keep it interesting.

I think it was a great way to get out of the "Gilligan's Island" in space rut before they fell deeply into it. Fly some, try to get off the island, er, find Earth, defeat a cylon plot, rinse, repeat. This avoids that for a while, should be fun.

Oh, no doubt its going to be fun.

One thing that I was thinking about afterwards was why that one Cylon went looking for Starbuck.

Maybe they've made a Starbuck cylon version and wanted to swap them out (she was on Caprica and had one of her ovaries removed a while back) :D

Now that could get interesting....

D

Leoben (sp?) had kind of a special relationship with Starbuck, so him poking in his head in to find her made sense to me. Now why he was looking for her...

I wondered about that for a second, but if you listened to what the Cylons said about how they found them, it makes perfect sense.

1. The Number Six on Cloud Nine set off her nuke, destroying Cloud Nine utterly. She wasn't JUST committing suicide... she had a better reason for doing it.
2. The signature/radiation/EM spike of the nuke traveled through space at or near the speed of light.
3. One year (or so) later, Cylons who happened to be a light-year away detected the explosion.
4. They immediately sent for reinforcements and Jumped to the location of the explosion.

I think we may sometimes forget that while BSG takes place in a universe where FTL travel is possible, signals still travel at light-speed. It's just too bad that the Cylons were only ONE light-year away, rather than 10.

I really liked this episode... it was interesting to see how crappy everyone's life down on New Caprica had become. Seems like a better choice would have been to restock their water and supplies from New Caprica and then keep running... they'd've had a one-year lead on the Cylons and might have found Earth by now (then again, the story would be over, wouldn't it?).

Baltar has now demonstrated his unworthiness... he has gone completely over to the dark side.

The one good thing about all those civilians being on the ground (unfortunately, some of the military are down there, too) is that now the Galactica and the Pegasus can do what they do best: fight, without the burden of having to guard a fleet full of civilians. They can drop the civilian fleet off in some safe location, and then come back to New Caprica and get their game on.

Too bad we have to wait until October. :(

i've been thinking about this episode a lot today and some things are starting to make a little more sense. maybe i'm just being hopeful here, but realize, we saw the "one year later" right after Baltar fell asleep. noted, this is a good transitional point, becuase they can just show him waking up a year later, but it's also a good time to begin a dream sequence...

I'll be pretty upset if they've resorted to something as cheesy as a dream sequence.

me too, but i mean... not so much a dream sequence as Baltar really starting to lose it.

i'm pretty upset with how it finished last night anyway, so i guess i'm just looking for ways to explain it that don't involve the ending last night :X

The wife and I were wondering about this, also. I was thinking along the lines of the Cylons knowing what a threat Starbuck could be, since she's dodged them in the past, but I think your logic is better. I'll be sure to inform the wife of your thoughts! :)

I was almost positive that Adama was gonna open up a can-o-whipa$$ when Baltar said that...

When the Cylons showed again, my first thought was, "damn, they promised that all this would end!" I guess a year of thinking on it all changed their minds a bit. It doesn't look like they're going to go postal on the remaining humans though. It seems they have a plan. Maybe they'll end up being the overseers, dictating this or that to give the remnants of humanity their version of Utopia.

Next seasn is bound to be dynamite.
