I am so sick of getting on this site to read up on new Mac/Apple stuff and seeing the comments turn political. It's real simple people, if you don't like Murdoch/Fox, fine. Keep the comments about what they should be about. If you want to get all political and bash the right or the left, go to a political blog and comment there. But shut up about it already. If you don't like Murdoch and/or Fox, don't buy the app.

Wow, this really is great stuff!

FANTASTIC news...

(what's "The Daily" ?)

It is the iPad version of brain washing, war mongering, celebrity crap spewing, propaganda rubbish and lies - brought to you by the same owner who proudly stands behind nonsense like Fox, Sky, The Sun, The Times etc...

Awesome stuff and well worth the page 1 news on MR!

I wonder how this will do. This is exciting news for the news industry, but looking at it from a consumer standpoint, isn't this just a way of repackaging (and charging for) a website? I'm sure it will be formatted well for an iPad, but many other websites have done this for free.

AMEN!

I am interested in what is being done--the presentation. If this is just another App that acts like a browser for news, then I'll pass it by. But if it is some dynamic way of presenting information involving the reader, then I will pay attention. If it is a good model, then I want to see it expand in many different markets. I am an adult, I can put the source in context, just like I do with all other news outlets.

ANOTHER neo-nut rag....

WHY would anyone that has a functioning, rational thought process actually PAY Murdoch for anything?? His media is ALL a lie and his research for that media is done out of a dumpster behind his HQ building in Sidney??

WHO GIVES A CRAP???

Forgive my ignorance, but what is The Daily and why is it so important?

Its an 'iPad Newspaper', for want of a better term, from NewsCorp. News Corp is the parent company to several news outlets, such as FoxNews, The Wall Street Journal, and sundry other papers.

I would love to pay and plan on doing so. Fox News and The Wall Street Journal are both outstanding sources for news. In fact, the WSJ is known for its outstanding record on Apple information. Since you are a newbie, I'll tell you that if The Wall Street Journal (A News Corp / Murdock Company) says something about Apple..... its pretty bankable. Moreover, MacRumors.com links to stores from News Corp's FoxNews and The Wall Street Journal several times a year. In fact, Steve Jobs routinely quotes the NewsCorp's WSJ in his keynotes.

I don't care what your politics are, but Apples collaboration with THE king of media monopolies in order to bring it to the ipad really just makes this smack of extreme irony:

I mean, which side of that screen are you on, Apple?

But pop news is pop news. Spread the fear, spread the blame, foster that hate.
Give me a peer-reviewed scientific journal of discovery and innovation any day.

Exactly... the story about this app isn't about that's it's Murdoch or Fox. If say, CNN or HuffPo was doing an app like The Daily, it would be reported on the same way, not for the content, but for the execution. Thank you for obviously seeing this app for what it is!

I'm really looking forward to this app, not because I want I am interested in the content but I want to see what new things come to the iPad with this. I would like to see other news organizations take advantage of the recurring billing method and I can't wait to see how good the design is.

Sidney eh?

Sounds like your research is sound.

People Forget...

That this is a public forum. I have been around here for around nine years now, and have definitely seen the membership move closer to center as Apple's products have become more mainstream. Back in the day, it was just us hippie artists and our Macs getting dumped on by the bullying Windows guys.

Now that the term "App" is mainstream, the dynamics have changed. Yes, fellow artists: get used to the fact that Apple has inked a deal with Bill O'Reilly's employer. Voice your dissatisfaction by not buying the app: not by bashing it here.

We have always been ourselves when we stay above that fray... let's keep it that way.

Oh boy!

Oh boy!
I can't wait to have Rupert Murdoch's the neoconservative spew all his lies and propaganda on my iPad!
Not...
Actually my real concern is that his company's hackers will find a way to jailbreak everybody's iPads and thereby spy on their private activities. That's just the kind of thing a ghoul like Rupert would be into.
