Hello, it's been over a year that I'm updating my side project and I just realized I never posted about it on this forum!

NewsNinja is a feed aggregator allowing you to follow RSS feeds, subreddits and youtube channels and it's available on Mac, iOS, iPadOS and VisionOS.

It doesn't require any account, it's reader only, and all your data is processed locally, saved on device and synced via iCloud.
It uses public RSS for reddit and youtube so you do not need to login to access content.

I mostly built it for myself as I really wanted to optimize how I stay on top of news without the need to login (and also because reddit app is too confusing for me to use).

What's different you might ask?
It has some niche features that I never found in other apps such as:

- Grouping: it uses local algorithms to group news/articles that cover the same story
(You know, like the 15 articles talking about the newly released MacBook, are all grouped together, no need for infinite scrolling)

- Summarization: uses AI to summarize articles, Youtube videos, reddit comments

- Translation: same as above but translate entire articles

- Fact checking: Fact checking for news, articles to find other sources and check possibility of being a fake news

- Learn more: to get more info and background on what you are reading

- Reader mode: to avoid all the noise. Reader mode support themes and there are 3 different readers supported.

- Read aloud: can read articles, news, summaries

- Other features such as categories, starred items, iCloud sync, Discover, support for reddit images, gifs, videos, also in comments and more, widgets, summarize extension, fact check extension.

Some features rely on external services (summarization, translation, fact checking), so they are behind an in app purchase (can choose between subscription or one time purchase).

If you just want to use it as a feed aggregator, it's completely free.

It's a native app, 100% built in Swift and SwiftUI. The Mac App is a Catalyst app.

What's coming?
I've started already working on version 3.0 that will add many new features such as:
- Integration with Mastodon, X, Podcasts & more
- Push notifications
- New UI

Privacy
All your data is stored on your device, I use Firebase and Mixpanel to collect app crashes and generic usage analytics.
