I'm tired of plugging in a cable all the time.

Thank you for mentioning this. I thought I was the only one.
After I plug in the cable, I have to go lie down and rest otherwise the effort
wipes me out for the day.

BTW: That is nothing compared to pulling out the cable.

If they are going to ignore the 4" user base then the least they can do is reduce the size of the bezels to make it less of a stretch, but that's not going to happen until at least the iPhone 7 (going off history), and I refuse to buy a non-S model due to the problems they tend to have so it looks like I'm stuck with a 5S until 2017 :(

Goddammit Apple! :mad::mad::mad:

Every iPhone has a new chip, the S models usually have more of an internal upgrade than the others.

I'm sorry. I should have clarrified my statement. What I meant to say was the "S" models usually come with the "X" model chips. If true, this would mark the first "S" model with a next-gen chip.

I normally trade in every year to always be on the latest. I actually really like my 6 after thinking I would hate the bigger form factor. However, given the two new iPads and the 2 vapor-watches, not sure we can afford two new iPhones, especially if you have to pre-order them in September for delivery in January.

(yes I am still jaded as I wait for the watches to arrive).

Once I am able to wear the watch and play with the force touch, I may be persuaded. Only time will tell (sorry, but it was necessary).

Meh...I'll keep my 6 for at least three years, maybe four if AT&T decides to pull the plug on two year contracts. I already use my phone less since getting an iPad. My next "upgrade" might just be a return to a basic flip phone.

How long ago was it that a 32" CRT TV was considered ridiculously large? Now where are we? Time marches on.

Thats a little different.... No one ever claimed larger TVS weren't good.

The 4 inch size is still right for many people. The 6 has sold incredibly well, but remember that the makeup of the sales are higher with Android users than ever before, there are many iPhone users on 3.5 and 4 inch phones who like smaller sizes. 3.5 is obviously never gonna come back but 4 inches is a good compromise. 4, 4.7 and 5.5 would be a good range.

An "S" model with a new generation chip? I thought the next-gen chips were always reserved for the next-gen iPhones (i.e. 5, 6, 7, etc...).

No... the iPhone 4S was the first phone with an all-new (dual core) chip.

The iPhone 5S had a completely new 64-bit architecture, the iPhone 5 still had a 32-bit chip.

Apple's "tick tock" strategy seems to be alternating major exterior design changes (iPhone 4/5/6) with major interior enhancements and CPU architecture changes (4S/5S/6S?)

better camera, looking forward to that one :)

It won't be a better camera... Extra megapixels won't improve image quality since it will be optically limited anyway and they will add noise in low light unless Apple uses binning.

no mention about battery improvement, that's still very high on a lot of people wish lists.

Battery life has improved with every iteration of the iPhone (except the 4S) so that's pretty much a given. I wouldn't expect any miracles, though..

I hope it doesn't come with 5 GB of ram. That is like a death sentence to older devices. Then again, this 4.7" phone is too big for one hand and too small for both hands.

Wasn't the 5S a normal A7, the 4S a normal A5 and the 3GS was before the A series came about.

I'm fairly certain that only the iPads have had AxX processors.

I'm not sure to be honest. I could be getting myself confused with the iPads lol.

Why can't they make a 4 inch phone the size of the 5s, but add a camera bump like what the Nokia 808 has and just pack in a massive sensor in there? I'd much rather that, keeps it's one handed use but delivers on the camera. Why do we now have to go to big horrible to handle slabs? The 6 doesn't work for me in one hand, the 5s did, either get rid of the bezels or make the phone smaller please!

I don't mind thickness, in fact it can make a phone more comfortable your palm, I just hate the other two dimensions being big.

On Android, it means that you can do certain actions with your hand to get the phone to do something. For example, double tap to wake, or sliding the side of your hand left to right on the screen to take a screenshot, etc. (These can and are device specific.)

So basically just Activator?

I could happily not Jailbreak if Activator were part of iOS 9

Not a fan of this. Every single one of my iPhones without Sapphire on the lens cover has eventually turned to ****. The images come out hazy, they're less sharp and totally screwed up thanks to a wrecked piece of glass covering the lens.. I remember having to buy off the market back replacements for my i4 just to keep the camera shots as clean as possible.

I thought the 6 and 6 Plus had sapphire cover lenses?

I thought every single iPhone had a sapphire lense.

Since the 5S they have been sapphire. I never had issues with the prior lens cover.

What kind of wear is that lens cover dealing with?

Maybe it's time to feature OLED screens in iPhones too. The screen in the new S6 series are quite impressive. A huge leap over even the best LCD in contrast, and the first time I had the impression during my hands on with the S6 that color accuracy is pretty spot on. IMHO it's a first with OLED phones. I couldn't spot the usual green or blue tint and gradation seamed fine too. Apple is on to something with OLED in the Apple Watch, it's just a matter of time.

Samsung's screens are horrendous. I don't want saturated colors, thanks. If you want a good Android device with an amazing screen, HTC One M9.

2GB of DDR4 RAM? Glad I always wait for the 'S' revision. It'll be nice to have Safari tabs and background apps refresh less frequently.

I'm holding off until Apple adds inductive (or whatever method they come up with) charging to their phones. I'm tired of plugging in a cable all the time.

Life must be so hard for you.

I don't understand why people are so adamant about USB-C. All of my devices and accessories are finally almost all transitioned to lightning. Lightning works great for me and I'd prefer not to have to manage three different cables. Let's stick with lightning for a while.

Same here, I can't see Apple switching to a BIGGER connector when the whole point was to get as small as possible.
