3D is stupid, enhances nothing, etc.

Hard for me to imagine this as something we didn't know we needed until we saw it.

I think that unless Apple can show how 3D can enhance the day to experience of using the iPhone, then it will not happen. Apple doesn't include features for the sake of looking good on a spec sheet. They want each thing they include to be in service of the user (at the risk of sounding like Jonny Ive). Steve Jobs quote that sums up what I love so much about Apple "I am just as proud of the things we didn't do as I am of the things we did"

Um...Apple makes the iphone thinner and thinner every year so it can call it the world's thinnest smartphone every year ---- at the risk of shorter battery life that would benefit the user.

as long as there's an option to not use it, who cares. i have the 3d off all the time on my 3ds. Just don't care for it.

I have an iPhone 6, I love all the new capabilities, but, I really really wish it was the size of an iPhone 4.
I'm guessing that they had to make a bigger to fit in all the components required.

No, the profits they wanted were at the bigger-sized screens (they knew the fans would just follow them to bigger sizes). And, since the lawyers couldn't stop Samsung and others from selling iPhone look-a-likes, Apple moved into their space with bigger screens that could run iOS and took away the competition's most distinguishing benefit. It appears Samsung and others are feeling more pain now than they have through all this legal action for years now.

Soon we can do this!

The 3DS does this pretty well, I actually enjoy playing *some* games on it with the 3D turned all the way up.

That said, you have to have it in perfect position for it to work. Without tracking where the device is in relation to your eyes, it's never going to be perfect I think, so will be limited to gimmick status.

So you haven't heard? A new 3DS with head tracking and better 3D is coming out in a few months in the US. It just released about 2/3 weeks ago in Japan.

Where's the down-vote option. =)

3D Rocks! Have fun in your flat world!

In before 2011 called jokes,

in before "but it's not about making it first, it's about making it right",

in before "we should wait and see how Apple does this, they could pull it off"

Pick your position.

You forgot Steve would never have allowed this.

Why all the negativity?

This makes sense. Don't think it's something Apple would put on the 6S--seems like too major of an update--but maybe they're upping their game.

Apple's been pointing towards this since the inclusion of parralax and layers in iOS 7--it's clear they want to head in this direction.

The iPhone becomes more virtual every day, and this is an obvious evolution on that front.

The "New" Nintendo 3DS does exactly that. It tracks your face and adjusts the display so that the 3D effect is always working when you tilt it. It actually works pretty remarkable.

It's only available in Japan at the moment, just came out a few weeks ago.

Well, they could use the camera for eye tracking and make this work. As the device is only used for one person, they would only have to double the refresh rate.

so it can call it the world's thinnest smartphone every year

The iPhone 6 is not and has never been the thinnest smartphone. The Gionee elife s5.5 came out march this year and is 5 inch android phone with full hd display, octacore processor and 2 gb of ram. And it's 5.5 mm thin.

But hey, that's a phone for the asian market, especially India, so apple can ignore that apparently.

This is ridiculous and I hope completely untrue.

Apple is more than pissing me off lately on many fronts.

iOS 8 has slowed down my iPad drastically. My iPhone asks for my iCloud password every 30 seconds. The 2014 mini is an intentionally crippled POS. Bendgate grows and grows.

It's like Apple suddenly has the same quality control people Samsung uses.

and so it begins... aren't there still waiting lines for iPhone 6/plus. I think if the rumors started after the holidays it would be more tolerable.

About time a glasses less option comes to iphone. Such a pain having to find glasses every time i need to look at the phone.
