I don't believe this rumor for a second. Retina scan is not as reliable or fast...

Retina Scan?
Perhaps you misread the article... because your retina's been scanned too often ;-)

A retinal scan is a biometric technique that uses the unique patterns on a person's retina blood vessels. It is not to be confused with another ocular-based technology, iris recognition, commonly called an "iris scanner."

Touch ID is perfect. Granted I hold no state secrets or Death Star plans on my iPad or iPhone so im cool with hat ever limititations Touch id may have. If someone goes through th trouble of making a cast of my finger with bubblegum, well they win. I give the props and bow my head. They now have access to my overdrawn bank account.

Touch ID is is like magic and unlocks your phone instantly and magically without any effort or ridiculous postures. People unlocking their devices with existing iris scanners look like morons.

Darn. and I have an iphone 4s that really needs replacing... I am holding up for iphone 7 but I don't have the financial resources to upgrade next year too.... Either way.... I hope all these rumours will come true

Okay. Whatever. They'll look like pillocks when unlocking their phone while standing in a queue...

So they will look stupid looking at their phone...which is what most people are doing waiting in lines anyway.

On another note (no pun intended), it wouldn't surprise me if Apple added an iris scanner eventually. Fingerprints have been shown to be possible to duplicate, and no doubt they're wanting to continue to beef up iPhone security, especially after the whole FBI fiasco...

Genital scan would make more sense since it's hands free and you don't even have to take it out of your pocket. They can also expand on the Apple Watch send heartbeat feature. Apple, get on it.

Yet another reason to wait! I'm glad I was planning on skipping iPhone 7 anyway :)

Why wait, all the rumored things Apples rumored iPhone 8 should have is already released in the note 7. Seems like Apple has run out of ideas and copying others

Remember, iPhone is only 5,5" o_O

I love Touch ID. For an iris scanner, will I have to take my glasses off all the time?

Not in Windows Lumia 950 XL it works without removing my glasses! Most of the time it works, but certainly inconvenient unlike Touch ID....It even works in a darker environment with good amount of success.

Nah, just leave me with touch ID. I'm not always looking at my phone when unlocking, and it would be faster to pull it out of my pocket with my thumb on it and have it unlocked by the time it is facing up than to pull it out, turn it on, look into it, let it take it's time because I'm in a dark area, and then unlock.

Imagine having to stand there and scan your eye, each time you want to use ApplePay. I think I'd rather use TouchID, I look less of a pillock.

Enter the Apple Glass(es), or Apple Monocle.

Iris scanners on a phone is just not a good idea. You need ideal lighting for it to work properly and it raises the cost of the phone.

Touch ID is more than adequate for most people.

Maybe Apple's invite: "See you on the 7th" was alluding to this on the 7th iPhone, as well?

So you do use Apple Pay a lot? which means you do like the idea to leave your wallet at home right? what about your indetification card? don't you want to leave that at home also? because if your smartphone has an Iris scanner you can! and you can also unlock your phone from the pool or using your gloves!
