The only wall they’ve hit is the artificial one they’ve made with whats allowed on the App Store this week and the subset of functionality iPadOS is allowed to have.

But hey, they want something exactly halfway between a phone and laptop forcing some number of people to buy all three.
Apples crappy anti consumer actions have been going on for at least 5 years now.

Purposely gimping products to fit into artificial price structures.

Hopefully people are finally waking up and they see a massive sales dip in the billions.

no way this does not happen, apple desperately wants to try higher pricing strategy (just look at rumors of iPhone Ultra)
question is, whether people will actually buy it or will the sales drop massively
They’re not raising iPad Pro prices 80%.

The price is too high. This is a new technology, no current samsung tablet has this but it’s no excuse to justification for the price. I agree 200 dollars more sounds about right. iPadOS needs drastic changes, to even begin to justify this price it at least needs to run full Mac OSX but that will cause Apple more problems.

Apple Watch Ultra should give you some hints.
Bad comparison. The Watch Ultra is relatively cheap compared to smart diving watches. It’s a new product category for Apple. I was surprised and excited as I watched them reveal the new model and was surprised it didn’t cost hundreds of dollars more. In other words it was an insta-buy for me, whereas an OLED upgrade for an iPad just makes me yawn.

I got rid of my iPads a while ago now when I just no longer had any use for them. I charged them full and then they just sat there until they went dead again.

Sticking with iPadOS is crippling the device. Zero point in putting any M series chips in there if they weren’t going to unleash its full potential and allow iPads to run MacOS.

Then Apple has the cheek to price these devices at MacBook levels. Disgraceful.
I have a similar thing happen with me, I will charge them up, use them until they die and then forget to plug them in for weeks at time. That changed when I got my iPad mini but not much.

We need to HOLD and not buy at that price! if people buy then Apple will think that is acceptable!! and that will be the new price for the future.

Well, yeah, that's sort of how a free economy works, lol! People are only going to "HOLD" if they don't think the price is worth it, though, not because you asked them to.

It’s stuff they develop for a few professionals who buy them as assets with their companies’ money.
Don’t freak out, it’s very normal, this is how pricing for top-tier stuff has always worked. If you think that’s to much, it’s not necessarily wrong, it’s just likely not meant for you.
The problem is that people who spent $800 on an iPad Pro were buying a flagship product. If that price point now applied to a mid-tier model while the new flagship model was priced well out of reach, people’s perception of both models would be reduced and they would be less inclined to spend the money.

I, for one, resent when Apple makes features exclusive to the ”Max” sized iPhone Pro. I don’t want the bulk or cost of the larger model and its existence makes me likely to skip the purchase altogether until, maybe, the following year.

Actually it makes perfect sense. There’s a huge difference in OLED panels between what you get on a TV and what you get on a tablet. TV sets are limited to 4K on a gigantic panel. An iPad would have similar numbers of pixels in a panel significantly smaller. That makes OLED for devices inherently more expensive due to pixel density. Then throw in the double stacked nature of the new OLED panels and the price goes up even more. Remember, a TV is meant to be viewed from many feet away while an iPad is maybe a foot or two max from your eyes. If OLED were as cheap as you think they should be, nobody would bother with LCD.

The rule of thumb in business is that you sell your device for 3 times the cost of the parts in order to cover for things like R&D, overhead, and a respectable profit margin. That $100 panel on the current 12.9” inflates the cost by $300 while an estimated $270 cost for a double stacked OLED panel would end up with a pricing of $810 for the panel alone. There’s your $500 price increase.
That might justify the price from Apple’s perspective but the benefits of OLED don’t remotely justify the price increase from the consumer’s perspective.

You could make a toaster out of solid gold and claim the material cost justifies the absurd price increase, but virtually no one would buy it.

Can‘t let Apple wins. If they do, they will keep doing it from now on.

The 2021 12.9 screen is very good already.

Those things better have full MacOS functionality and some clever keyboard docs making them equivalent to macbooks in terms of laptop use case. Otherwise, what is the point? Yes ipad have the same hardware as macs but the OS still makes them a lesser device. Btw, isn't miniLED better than OLED?

Lol for what? A M1 Air can do almost everything a Pro can. Unless this can dual boot Mac OS - not worth it

Sounds about right. If you consider the average price of a new car in 2019 was around $32K and now it is around $45k? maybe more, that is 40% higher. I'm not sure what everyone expected after the malfeasance of monetary policy in the past couple years. Why the surprise? The agenda is all spelled out on the WEF website here: https://www.weforum.org/great-reset/
The main driver of inflation has been corporate profit taking, not “monetary policy” Or social spending.

Instead of rising interest rates, what we need are higher taxes on corporations and billionaires. Tax capital gains like income. Implement a wealth tax. Add an huge tax burden to any residential real estate purchases by people and organization who aren’t living in the home. Apply a windfall tax on all the sleazy companies who have exploited a global pandemic to further enrich their shareholders and executives.

Apple's 2024 OLED iPad Pro models could be vastly more expensive than its existing iPad Pros and even more costly than some MacBook Pros currently on sale, claims a new Korean report.

iPad-Pro-OLED-Feature-2.jpg

According to industry sources cited by The Elec, Apple is already considering its pricing strategy for next year's two OLED iPad Pro models, with current estimates starting at $1,500 and $1,800 for the 11-inch and 13-inch models, respectively.

That would make the 11-inch device over 80 percent more expensive than the existing 11-inch ‌iPad Pro‌ with LED Liquid Retina display, which starts at $799, and the 13-inch model over 60% more expensive than the current 12.9-inch ‌iPad Pro‌ with mini-LED Liquid Retina XDR display, which starts at $1,099.

The OLED price estimates even eclipse the price of some MacBook Pro models currently on sale. For example, the 13.6-inch MacBook Air with M2 chip starts at $1,199, while the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 chip starts at $1,299.

According to the Korean-language report, the industry response to the price hikes is divided: Some consider them a reasonable increase given the switch to superior OLED technology that will attract Apple's loyal customer base, while others believe the prices will make it difficult to maintain sales because iPads lack the replacement demand of iPhones.

The main reason for the increases is said to be the large proportion of material costs taken up by OLED panel procurement. Apple is currently believed to be in discussion with Samsung and LG Display about the price of supplying the panels, the specifications for which will require the use of production processes that have not been combined before for OLED panels of the required size.

According to The Elec, the supply price of OLED panels for existing 10-inch devices is around $100 to $150, whereas the outlay for the processes involved in making Apple's required 11-inch and 13-inch panels may be closer to $270 and $350, respectively.

The report notes that current OLED iPad Pro price estimates from the industry could change in the future. The OLED panels scheduled to be delivered by LG and Samsung are still in the development stage, so the panel prices have not been finalized.

Still, there are reportedly concerns among panel suppliers Samsung, LG, and BOE about how Apple's OLED iPad Pro prices and shipment forecasts could negatively affect profits and production line investment. Samsung is set to invest in eighth-generation OLED production lines, which should "theoretically" result in lower-costing panels, but they have already been earmarked for Apple's future OLED MacBooks, which are also expected to debut in 2024.

Buy a standalone vr headset and you won’t look back at iPads and iPhones.

You would be able to buy a 77-inch OLED display for that price. I find it hard to believe that a 13-inch display would justify the markup.
