Tebow has awful mechanics, reminiscent of Bernie Kosar (he holds the ball below his waist and then brings it up and throws sideways from there), the next read he makes will be his first. This guy is a gimmic NFL QB at best. But his QB run and gun days do not translate to the NFL.
In a QB starved league, some team will take a shot with him..I say late second round..I could see the Jags taking a shot at him..He's a God in FLA and would put people in the seats..

But his QB run and gun days do not translate to the NFL.

That's the issue, in college you can and do have QBs running, using the option play or other formations that allow the QB to run. Not so in the NFL, plus you really do need to be a very good passer and he's been at best OK. He certainly improved his passing skills these last two years but not enough to be "PRO"

IMO, he would be an excellent H-Back or TE. Can they work on his mechanics? Sure. Can he work on his accuracy? Probably. But the kid has absolutely NO touch on the football whatsoever. He throws ducks with nothing behind them most of the time. That won't get the job done at the NFL level.

Just look at Vick, he too had similar issues. Couldn't pass, but could run.

Atlanta just didn't know what do with him (before that whole dog thing). A mediocre thrower who never really attained the success people thought he would.

Tebow is more of a power type runner, not an elusive one like Vick or Pat White. It's one thing trucking through college LB's,it's another thing trying to get through Patrick Willis or Ray Lewis..And I don't how much of a shelf life the wildcat has in the NFL..Teams are on to it to now..It's not the like the first few weeks the Dolphins were running it..

Bookmark this thread and come back in a year. Nobody will know who Tim Tebow is.

You're right in the details, but over all, Vick's fame came from his running ability. Tebow's fame came from his running abilities, yeah different style of running but running nonetheless. I suspect that tebow will be just as much ill-fitting as a QB in the NFL as Vick was with atlanta.

I am glad the Vikings lost.... Sorry can't stand them or BF........ Superbowl should be interesting.

Ok everyone,,, post who you think will win and hell throw the score in it for good measures.

Saints: 31
Colts: 38

i think Indy's going to take the SB.

Manning is just too good mentally and of course, he's got all the mechanics of a QB. He is going to shred the NO d. I don't hate either team nor do I cheer for either. #18 is simply the best QB we've seen in a long time. I know Brady's won 1 more SB, but Manning took 2 rookie receivers into his lineup and played solid football.

I think the diff is the Colts D. They are for real and that team doesn't just rely on offense anymore.

As for the championship weekend - good games. Neat to see the Jets push it, really excited to watch a 40 yd old warrior of a QB fight so hard. Yes, his last pass was stupid, but I think he made that pass b/c his ankle was hurting so bad, it obviously made him think twice about running. He rolled out fine, but that had to be excruciating. The only reason I believe that is the game tying TD - Favre is usually so animated, exciting and pump fisting, but after that TD, he just slapped a few hands as he hobbled to the sidelines.

you can love or hate Favre for his postering on retirement, for his many INTs the last few years, but bar none, no other QB is as tough as he is. Those hits he took in the 1st half were tough and he just kept getting up (albeit with some help). I thought his ankle was busted when that Saints player hit him low (why was that NOT a penalty btw?). For #4 to get up and keep going was awesome.

I think the Vikes have only 1 thing to say to Peterson this off season for training - you're a machine, you're ripped so don't work out. Just keep holding a football all off season and every time you drop it, donate $10 K to a charity. His fumbles in the most important game of the year were terrible. The Saints did do a good job of putting their hands on the ball, but he's strong - no excuse.

As for NO, I think it's great for the city. They've been down and out since Katrina and need the motivation and excitement. Definitely a feel-good situation.

I wanna Root for the Saints but cant Root for them with the owner, the way the Owner handled everything after Katrina he came close to pulling a Baltimore Colts and should be ashamed for that.

Me too, I'm glad they lost! Freakin' Farva!

But I'm hoping the Saints win, they've never even been to the SuperBowl before let alone win one!

Go Saints!

J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS!

Thanks for a great season.

Still no respect for the them I see.

Go Saints!

I enjoyed watching the Jets in the championship game. They had been skimming along by the hair of thier chin, but they made it.

I have to say that the defense and the run game did a heck of a lot for the team as a whole. I don't think Sanchez is bad, but not that great either. Oh and let's hear it for their offensive line, it beats the crap out of my Bears..

This kid's stock is dropping every day
Tebow was "hospitalized" Monday night
Now that former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow flopped like Albert Brooks reading the news during the first day of Senior Bowl practices, the excuses are rolling in.

According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Tebow's agent, Jimmy Sexton, says that the quarterback was "hospitalized" Monday night, receiving treatment for strep throat.

"He's been sick for two days," Sexton said. "He had a 103 temperature."

Of course, "hospitalized" means "admitted," which typically implies an overnight stay. The more likely reality is that Tebow visited a local doc-in-a-box and got some medication.

Tebow actually looked better on Tuesday, according to the NFL Network coverage. Still, we're not impressed with information about supposed illnesses that is disseminated after the fact. Instead, we prefer the Favre approach, which entails lists all injuries and illnesses before a possible on-field failure.

Late second,early third round...

i think indy will win it but i want the saints to win...

what i want:

saints 28 colts 27

what will probably happen

colts 42 saints 34

When both teams are rested and on, their defenses are their strong points.

My prediction is a defense heavy game, Colts 17, Saints 14. I am going to expect bigger yards from Brees, but more conservative play and fewer yards from Manning, and for him not to fumble and throw an interception. Manning will probably make very few errors.

If Indy's D lets up just a little, then I call it at Colts 17, Saints 24. Nobody can throw a laser into heavy coverage and complete a pass like Brees. He reminds me of when Favre was young.

Finish Strong

sorry i haven't been in this thread this whole time, but WHO DAT! after years of underachieving, disappointment and flat out sucking, the saints finally made it to the big game!! me and the folks were watching the game at home and we all got nervous at the end of the game, but it was worth it as it was good and farve's last play was a pick, yet again. now to beat peyton and win the super bowl.

for the past few seasons, we were the darling 'lovable losers' due to the post-katrina sob story. now that we're winning, the love stopped and they started to hate. we're just here to be the aints to the media, and i'm getting a bunch of haters the past few days saying we're overrated and lucky and trying to demean the team by bringing up old and/or irrelevant issues.

one thing i hope i don't get is too much of the "saints should win the super bowl because of the katrina blah blah blah", and make it all touchy-feely. it's a part of the history, but there's alot more to the saints woeful history. i'm hoping to go to some of the events down here in south florida and get into the super bowl feeling here.

Indy's D was explosive against the Jets. After big plays early in the game they got shut down over and over.

Manning and the Colts will tear the Saints' 26th ranked pass defense apart.

Kurt Warner Retires

Kurt Warner announced his retirement today at a press conference in Arizona. I'm sad to see him go as I really enjoy watching him play. He's a class act and I think will definitely be a first ballot hall of famer. I think this really hurts the Cardinal's chances next year. I'm not sure Leinart has what it takes to be a starting QB.

I agree that Warner was a very entertaining QB and class gentleman
Some have debated his place in the HoF but I think he is deserving

The Cardinal's play in a very weak Western Conference, so they have that going for them

Woof, Woof - Dawg

Warner deserves it. At his peak, he outranked Steve Young in QB rating.
