Trent who?

I can see his point to an extent, but his language impedes the very point he's trying to make. He just across as being arrogant and miserable.

That's the point. They won't approve the NIN app because it can access content with some naughty words. But you can use mobile Safari to access content with some naughty words. Why should there be a difference between the two? Using Apple's own guidelines for approving and rejecting apps, Mobile Safari should be removed from the iPhone.

...KIDS out there, don't bite, try seeing people for what they are not what they portray. Of course a lot of you will bite and idolize this guy, until you grow up and know better, I did too, with other folk.:):apple:

Seems like you may have 'biten' on the whole 'record labels never do anything good and are all just money/publicity hungry execs' mentality.

Trent Reznor is a a bozo and a clown, and musically he's very very mediocre...

First: I don't know who Trent Reznor is beyond that he was/is the band nine inch nails. Your opinion on his music and/or person literally have no relevance to what we are discussing. He is a person, and entitled to an opinion. An opinion that many people seem to share (including myself). Please stop being a child and calling others "KIDS" because they agree with an opinion that someone else has expressed. It makes you seem like both a bozo and a clown.

Spoken like someone who hasn't even read the article.

Why should I? Cause Trent says so, I dont have the time of the day for these types. While you who has read it, you don't even bother replying to what I said, just drop a cryptic nonsense comment. Way to go man.

it's like cut and paste

I guess I don't understand why something like that is completely out of the question. Note that I just made all that **** up, as I really don't know anything about coding or legalities and the like, but that is a generally idea.

I don't think it is out of the question. I am sure we'll see it eventually. But just like the Cut and Paste that's now in 3.0, Apple doesn't move quickly and implement patchwork solutions for things like this. They don't want to add something and realize it was done wrong later, then change the whole thing again - a hallmark of Microsoft development.

Wait, wait... you're upset because HE didn't respond to what you wrote and instead just said something nonsensical all while he was responding to you because you infact did not read the article and instead said something nonsensical?... odd.

No I haven't, I just know a hack when I see one, I don't mind them promoting people of talent, but that faux "against the system" talentless artists, who swear to be seen as something of interest is tired trite. Nice try though.

I wasn't being condesending to you or anyone, if you feel that way take it out with your mom and dad, I even said I was thinking that way when I was a kid. Do you realise this? It's ok to change your opinion about what I said.
Anyone is entitled to an opinion, but sometimes it's a cheap ploy for publicity, and with these types it's most always this way. And secondly this "entitlement" doesn't mean I should care or find worthwhile what he said. And thirdly if you try to sell a bad boy attitude and cuss while you state your opinion this is a level of unacceptable discourse, a publicity stunt like I said.

I don't see the problem, if I had kids I wouldn't want them downloading apps with bad language in them. I can block explicit songs.

How young are these kids and why would they have an iphone and their own itunes account?

Imagine if you were trying for months to get an App processed, approved and then update it and it rejected...all the hassle...if oyu had to go through that youd probably pop a gasket or two; I dont believe it is at all unintelligent or any way demeaning or lack of character.

Its better to use curse words than to hurt someone/yourself I say.

So i definitely understand this frustration considering I've read plenty of similar complaints and aggressions towards apples app store policies.

hopefully this gets straightened out, for the entire app store as apple definitely created something phenomenal and I love their products ever since I started making them apart of my daily life, this little speed bump should be taken care of and go about creating more great products.

Maybe theyre responsible youths, and their parents are doing their job.
I started building and using computers when I was really young and used the internet at a very young age too (8~10) and i wasnt irresponsible or anything that I dont think i couldnt handle.
Its a new generations and definitely new technology.
Just use proper sense and responsibility basically.

Whether Trent has any talent or not is not the issue at hand. He's pointing out the blatant hypocrisy with Apple and others who censor. It doesn't take any musical talent to point that out, even someone as talentless as Paris Hilton could make that point just as well as Trent did.

Disagreements in personal taste/opinion aside, I'm not even a huge NIN fan but this guy is hardly a hack or talentless. On top of that, I'm not sure you're in a position to decide if the "against the system" is fake or not (neither am I)... that's just being cynical to assume it's fake with no proof.

Any man that make songs like "right were it belongs" get my seal of approval.

Valid points. Major issues. We need a change.

To the app store...From:Trent reznor

What if everything around you,
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you used to know,
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection,
Is that all you want to be?
What if you could look right through the cracks,
Would you find yourself... find yourself afraid to see?

And apparently you didn't read anything I've said in this forum, because Trent is neither part of a record company, nor being promoted/controlled by one, nor did he do this solely for publicity (he did it on his OWN site in his own forums, as I said before). Just because someone doesn't agree with your opinion about Trent Reznor when you have absolutely no idea what he's been doing lately (quite obviously) doesn't make them a little kid (as you so adamantly believe it does), nor does it make them wrong. Profanity was not the focus of his statement, it was just a piece of it, and you taking it out of context and pretending it was all the substance he had is an unacceptable level of discourse, because it's intellectual dishonest, and pretty myopic.

How young are these kids and why would they have an iphone and their own itunes account?

I agree completely. A kid would have an iPhone and iTunes account by one of two ways:

1. The kid has his own part time job and pays for his phone and wireless plan and his own apps.

2. The parents buy the iPhone, plan and apps for the kid.

Scenario one, if the kid is mature enough to hold down a job, they're mature enough to hear a few swear words. Scenario two, if you're buying everything for the kid, then don't buy them the iPhone, or buy them the iPhone and don't let them download apps.

Allow me to disagree here. Who would you trust more that they are making an honest statement and you would be willing to discuss it with them and hear their points: A know attention seeking talentless celebrity like Paris or an honest developer? Of course the latter. So, talent here has everything to do. If Bod Dylan had qualms maybe you would listen to him say, because this guy doesnt pull cheap publicity stunts and instead voices an opinion and opens up a discourse. As simple as that.

Allow me to disagree here.
You've showed repeatedly that your opinion has absolutely no value, so I don't think anyone's going to care about your disagreements.

Incidentally, your very post is wrong and full of stupid, which confirms the above assessment.

Do you regularly content on things that you haven't read?

If so, do people take you seriously?

Chris try anwering to my points for a change, this is very cheap, I read the article I didn't want to be exposed to some idiot cussing so I didn't click on the link. Now how about replying to some of the actual arguments I made instead of attempting to be ironic with trash talk like the above. You seem to be taking the Trent route no wonder...

Yeah but a good point is a good point.

And you've yet to explain, besides "he swore wich meens that hez diong it fur publicty!!!1" how this is any different than what Trent did, speaking to his fans, about Apple's hypocrisy in this respect. He spends a ******** of money every day doing things like making this app, or creating albums that he packages and releases for FREE, or for cheaper prices than most other artists in record stores, all independently, out of his own pocket. Is this an attention ploy? Well, hot damn, if it is, it's a damn good one. And a damn expensive one at that. If Trent is so unoriginal and such a money-grabber, why are no other bands/artists doing this? I know you're not going to respond to any of this, since you seem adamant about ignoring any point I make. Oh well.
