Bluetooth sounds worse and a splitter just adds an inconvenience.

Samsung is probably checking the direction the wind blows.

If lot of people disapprove, then Samsung will keep the headphone jack.
That's the issue. Just like all the other times change has happened, people complain in the beginning and then get used to it. That's what will happen. It's the very reason Apple leaked this info about the headphone jack more than a year ago. To get people used to the change. So we would have these conversations. Look for other solutions. Get tired of arguing about it and then finally move on.

There's a lot of psychology that goes into this the people at Apple know this. Ya really think they would go through with this change without doing years and years of research? They aren't stupid. They know where we are headed, how many customers they will lose over this and where the upshot is. They remove the jack. People are pissed. Then get tired. Then get complacent. Then try Bluetooth and other alternatives while Apple keeps pushing their hardware and software over the years. Then others like Samsung and htc ditch the jack and within 5 years no phones will have it.

So you can switch to another company, but understand this change will happen everywhere within a few years. Denying that is just being...myopic

I moaned when they pulled the optical drives out of the macbook pros and over the years I have found it to be an issue only a handful of times and when it was I used Apple's external drive. They are giving you an adapter and to complain to get thinner, more battery room and waterproofing as a result is DUMB!

If you're the type to go to the gym, how you still have wired headphones is beyond me. Wires are the most miserable thing ever for running on the treadmill.

Gosh how did we jog the last three decades? Remember walkmans?

So much hyperbole on the forums. I love it.

I bought an external drive for my Dell at work because I thought I would need it. It's in the box. Two years.

Ah man! I should enjoy low speed internet too since we managed to survive for a while with that crap too huh? Screw human progress. Matter of fact, leave your Ethernet plugged into your laptop too. Wifi is stupid. Ethernet is faster anyway

Speaking of Walkmans, they were cool in their time, but I'm glad I don't have to carry a pencil around with me anymore.

I'm not disagreeing with progress I was poking fun at your hyperbole. That's all. Simmer down. Wires. The most miserable thing ever.

Actually treadmills are the most miserable thing ever sooooooo.....

I don't understand why some people feel the need to tell the world that they aren't buying something. Whatever.

Why? Am I not allow to run on a treadmill while listening to music and charging?

No because it's almost physically impossible. Let me guess, you're eating tootsie rolls at planet fitness while you "run" as well?

I saw a bro in the gym today with wired headphones, he tried to fist bump me and I laughed at him. Just stood there laughing at him. I hope he cried later.

Is this a serious post? This is the dumbest thing I've ever read. How fast is fast? Is a 6 min mile with headphones fast?

One more thing! I told y'all we removed the headphone jack... and we did, but not only did we remove the headphone jack, but we placed a headphone jack adapter inside the box along with wired headphones!

I know I said that's old technology but, you're actually gonna need those, hee hee. You didn't think those AirPods that we removed the headphone jack for, you didn't think you would actually be getting those now did you? HAHAHA
(Standing ovation)

A lot of people are going to feel silly in 5 years when it's obvious the trend in mobile has moved hard away from an analog interface like the 3.5mm jack.

I'll tell you what I'm gonna do! I'll remove the headphone jack! (Applause)

I'll tell you what we did! We've invented AirPods! (Applause)

I'll tell you what we're gonna do! We're going to release those later on! (Applause)

seriously, it is kind of weird the air pods are not ready to go from the start. That is like a gaming system toting wireless controllers, but coming with wired ones and you can't buy wireless.

A lot of people are going to feel silly in 5 years when it's obvious the trend in mobile has moved hard away from an analog interface like the 3.5mm jack.

I really don't think many people are denying that happening. Even most tech blogs acknowledge the transition is now.

I was if the same opinion about the absence of the jack. Apple mitigated the issue for me a bit with including one adapter and making it cheap to purchase more. The 128GB phone is also cheaper than the 6s. If I could find a cheap adapter with pass through chafing for the car it's very little hassle and no additional overall cost, which was a concern for me.

You realize it's a 3rd party dream? Theres a reason why Apple has more accessories than anyone. Charging cases with aux ports will be your one solution for all your complaints. Cords with Aux and Lightning ends will be there for everyone asking for the Aux in your car, more chance to give sh*t to your android friends for not having iPhones, or get CarPlay.

This whole nonsense over the headphone jack is sooooo annoying. I'm sorry if your life revolves around it soooo much, but I stopped using Aux in 2010 the moment my car stop needing one. Same exact complaints didn't phase me when Apple got rid of optical drives.

I say good riddance and welcome the change with open arms.

...because you're told to?
A *smart* phone should be able to connect to active speakers and hifi amps via aux, this isn't only about headphones and earphones.

If there's no room for the jack that Samsung manage to fit into smaller phones with more RAM and way smaller bezels....then Apple are doing something wrong.

This move to Lightning port audio and Bluetooth earphones is surely a money grabbing thing? There is absolutely zero benefit to the customer who could have used Bluetooth earphones and Lightning port audio previously, alongside other more traditional options.

In the meantime they could get 5 years of solid use out of their non-Bluetooth speakers etc and their car that only has an AUX out.

The terrible battery life on current bluetooth headphones means its way to early for me to make the transition. Not to mention when it comes to audio quality you want to be using wired headphones anyway. In 5 years time when battery life has improved ect im sure Samsung will follow suit, but Apple have jumped the gun here.
