The terrible battery life on current bluetooth headphones means its way to early for me to make the transition. Not to mention when it comes to audio quality you want to be using wired headphones anyway. In 5 years time when battery life has improved ect im sure Samsung will follow suit, but Apple have jumped the gun here.
Like the 12 hours in the powerbeats 3? Or the 40 hours on some others?

...yeah

Why do they even need to have an adapter? Why can't they make lightning headphones?

Apple is supplying both. Lightning headphones and an adapter so people can use their 3.5mm equipped peripherals with the phone still.

(edit: and, yes, other manufacturers are already producing lightning headphones)

Really...yawn.

There are already several of these threads running. Did you consider whether we really need another?

I see some improvement in the iPhone 7, but the drawback (lack of headphone jack) is just too much for me.

That is, the lack of headphone jack is too disruptive for my routines.

First is the lack of ability of listen to charge the phone and listen to the music at the same time.

I often go to the library before the midterms and finals and study while listening to music/charging my phone.

I also go to the gym everyday and run on the treadmills, do the elliptical, etc all the while listening to the music and charging the phone.

The solution, according to carry this around with me:

Second is the lack of the 3.5mm headphone jack itself.

On Friday and Saturday night, I often goes to friends' house for parties.

Wouldn't it be great if I would connect my phone to their audio system and play some music?

Oh, woops! I can't because I didn't bring the Lightning Dock.

Now, I need to run back and get it.

I got a pair of bluetooth headphones for what I use the headphones mostly for...

Mowing the lawn.

Inevitably, no matter how I ran the cables, they got snagged on a tree branch and ripped out of my ears about 10 times per mowing. Now I've got the noise cancelling/bluetooth cans for snag-free mowing.

And they sound pretty good to me and that's all that matters. ;)

Sorry to hear that you're stuck in the 1970s and can't move forward with better technology. Oh well, stay with what you got, buy a spare battery, and prepare to be completely left behind in 3-4 years when your existing phone doesn't support modern operating systems anymore.

Sorry i should have been more specific, im not talking about over/on ear cans, im talking about IEMS that are typically used with a phone. Not to mention bluetooth audio quality....

I get ~20h+ out of my Momentums. How exactly is that terrible?
Sure over ear/ on ear cans are decent but im referring to IEMs more then anything as they are typically used with a phone.

But there is already an adapter by Belkin that lets you charge and listen to music.... research before posting. /endthread.

Not being able to listen to music through your phone while charging it is about the most first-world gripe I've ever heard. Do you have a home music system? A TV? A radio? This criticism is utterly f*****g ridiculous. I mean, really. Can you not charge your phone while sleeping (which I think most of us do)? Seriously, this is just bitching for the hell of it.

Yeahhhh but there wasn't a very vocal outrage over it that's been beaten to absolute death over it. Colors? Pretty light hearted topic anyway. The "I don't like the lack of headphone jack"? Ohhhhh man. The news coverage. The media. The posts on every tech website imaginable complaining about this very same thing.

Yeah. Listen man. I respect your opinion. But you should understand this topic needs a rest for a lot of people.

No it doesn't.... If it wasn't my strong desire to keep using iMessage I would go back buying android phones. Yeah I know I can still use it on my Macbook but having my phone number part of it is a major plus for me

Just for the sake of conversation, why haven't you gone over to Bluetooth? I refused to even try it for the longest time and over the past year have bought 3 pairs of headphones because I'm loving this transition so much. The parrot zik 2's sound better than my wired headphones with additional features. I also have a pair of workout headphones called the jaybird freedoms and they are absolutely amazing.

Because Bluetooth Sucks? It does suck but I still prefer the convenience which is why I suffer with it. Wired will always sound better....

Never met so many audio engineers as I have since the keynote...smh

Bluetooth doesn't suck. The sound quality from my 3 sets of Bluetooth headphones are phenomenal and haven't experienced any connection issues what so ever. I really feel like we must either be living in two different realities or you just haven't used Bluetooth anything in years

Why, no, I don't. And what if you want to listen to music as you fall a sleep? Now you can't without skipping a charge (without an adapter or going wireless that is)

Agreed. I haven't used the headphone jack in 3 years now. Bluetooth all the way. And the sound quality is superb. I'm dying at the 'audio engineers' btw!, LOL!!!

Like jaybirds? I have a pair that sound really good and get 8 hours. Then again, 8 don't listen to them enough to even charge them once a day, battery isn't an issue for me like it might be for you

Yeah don't get an iPhone and learn how to manage your charge times better.

Lol? Please. Bluetooth compresses the files so it can be sent through wirelessly to begin with. And if you're using AAC files or mp3 they are already compressed music files. Go to ANY audiophile forum and you will be laughed at considering Bluetooth headphones to be the best of the best..... Wired will ALWAYS BE BETTER with the current Bluetooth technology which is at 4.1 I think? Don't use Bluetooth? I have a Bose QC35 since before they were released and a pair of jaybird X2 since they were released. I forsake sound quality for the convenience of wireless but at home I still use my wired headphones because they sound better.

I wish more people thought like you so I would get my phone earlier.

By the way you can still do all those things you listed, I guess you're living in the past...
