Does your treadmill and elliptical have a USB port on it?
What length cable are you using? surely an awkward to carry 3 metre lightning - to allow free movement when exercising? - a 3 metre cable is far more awkward than "a splitter just adds an inconvenience"?
This is an unusual thread.

Fair enough. I have been upgrading every 2 years due to contracts all these years. Not sure if I will feel the need to upgrade annually under the new system or not. I use my phone a lot, but clearly don't monitor he number of charge cycles or worry about scratches or whatever. I treat it like the expensive piece of necessary tech (for me) -that it is, but that's it. I'm not in the case and screen protector crowd.
If I had an iPhone 6 or 6 plus right now (I hated the 6 plus performance and was too stubborn to return when I could have) I would absolutely have upgraded this year and taken advantage of the free upgrade option practically all the carriers are touting. My favorite buds are still wired but I could use the adapter and wait/hope I get something for the gym I can fall in love with; everything I have tried fell short of feeling worth the money. The reality is that I wasn;t given good enough reason to upgrade from a 6s plus. The camera is all I gain, and once I see some more thorough reviews I may reconsider. Everything else is honestly a wash.

The one I use has a spot for phones, ipads, books etc with a usb port in the base. The cable I use is about 3 inches (7.5 cm). My old gym had units that linked with Nike+ even. That was pretty neat. :)

Okay, grandpa.

Alright, let's take it easy. I respect your opinion which is shared by many but unfortunately not the majority. You're free to vote with your wallet and I hope you do. Stand for what you want.
Like politics, people are on one side or the other. You aren't going to convince them one way or another. They're either on board or not. It's unfortunate we have to resort to name calling and insult each other. C'est la vie.

I think you took that response out of context. Look what he was responding to... a person calling him a whiny teenager who can't afford headphones...

No. I was just responding to his most recent comment out of convenience. I read through the whole thread and watched it escalating. Since he was the OP and on the defensive I thought I'd direct it at him. Many people on here need to take it easy.

Why? ...because you think that music sounds better over Bluetooth than over wire?

If your only consideration is sound quality, why not rent a giant van, fill it with roughly $100,000 worth of audiophile grade stereo equipment, and have it follow you around all day? I mean, that will give you better sound quality than any wired headphones.

Your thought process is truly entertaining.

Maybe I am off base. What I see from this thread, and this isn't unusual for "controversial threads" is something that started out calm and then outside contributors escalating things. It;s rather difficult to respond to everything calmly when the statements people come here to say is that the thread is stupid and you are living in the past. Well ok, move along then I guess?

Sounds good to me. Moving along.

Yes, the treadmill and elliptical have USB ports.

The cable doesn't really bother me on the treadmill because it's just slightly longer than the safety cable.

On the elliptical, there's isn't as much free movement so it doesn't matter.

I can't take a van into the library, gym, etc., can I?

I really don't understand this hate over the removal of the headphone jack. Is this 2012? I haven't used wired headphones in years. Bluetooth headphones are super affordable and much more convenient than wired headphones. Plus my car has Bluetooth. People just need to deal with it and get with the times.

You know, all that rage is not only really funny, but completely irrelevant too. Most of the people crying here will be buying the iP7 (or any subsequent iPhone) anyway, so Apple just needs to sit there and watch all those people get over it. I'd be really surprised if the 7 won't become at top seller after all.

You have made your choice and a nice "hot" Note 7 is in your future.

At least until it goes boom, I guess. :)

To be honest I think the biggest shock is the price increase and the fact carriers in the UK at least, have added about £10 a month to iPhone contracts. That will and in my immediate experience has put people off. That was my main motivation for getting a 6S. I had to consider why I should pay £43 a month for an iPhone 7 when I can get a 6S for £30 on an identical contract? I'm losing interest in having to have the latest device, especially when they are so close in features and performance anyway.

Then move on and spare us the multiple threads.

Samsung will soon release the Galaxy Note 7 with battery from a different manufacturer.

I am not terrible concerned about that issue..

Happy with the removal, looking forward to the new features because of that. Hadn't used one in years anyway. 6s with a headphone jack is still a great phone for you though.

Yop - that Brexit-related currency loss surely hits hard here. :/
I think it's more to do with manufacturers using it as an excuse more than anything. No other consumer goods appear to be receiving sharp price increases and our economy is actually better than in May. It's not all bad though because I ended up buying a cheaper phone.

I must say i was wondering if the iPhone 6S will become more desirable just like the Mac Mini 2012. The Mac mini sells at a premium especially the Quad Core version because it is the last model that has features that some of the user base want like upgradability. It will be interesting to see how this evolves.

What's your source on this? You're basically saying that no more than 49.99% of all people who listen music on their iPhones via wired connections, never charge their devices at the same time. I'm just curious how you know it's not 50.01%, which of course would be the majority.

Anecdotally, I don't know anyone among the 50 or so people who's phone habits I would consider myself an expert on, who charge their phone while also listening to wired headphones. Maybe it's a regional thing or a socioeconomic thing or whatever... I've never done it, nobody I know has ever done it. That is the basis upon which most people form their opinions..

Just like you assume because you charge and listen, that the rest of the world must do this also...

Maybe there are huge swaths of the population who generally remain stationary in one place and prefer being connected to their mobile device by two cords, one connecting them to that space, and one connecting the mobile device to them physically. It's within the realm of possibilities I suppose. For me and my lifestyle, I have stationary things for stationary tasks and mobile things for mobile tasks... and I charge my phone mostLy overnight or in the car... I don't charge in the middle of the day at work because I'm moving around and don't want to be tied to a wall socket... I suspect this is true for a lot of different jobs.
