I don't have any more insight that others in this thread about when it'll be released, but I'll still maintain hope that it's with ML.

  • The Geekbench Score at the same time as the new MacBook Pro
  • Sometimes Apple starts false rumors themselves.

If not, I really wish that I would have purchased at the end of May.

I was told last week by the Manager of one of the Comet stores in the UK that the base model 27" is now shown as DISCONTINUED on their system.

They have almost zero stock.

Saying that, their stock has been patchy at best for months now.

The local best buy also had one model of the 27" as discontinued. I think it was the 814 model...

Forget Mac Pro and MacBook Pro.

What is validating Apple's decision to allow the iMac to die a slow death is the success of the MacBook Air. Whether we like it or not, it has replaced the iMac the de facto consumer Mac. If there's no new iMac hardware on sale coincident with ML, I'm heading in that direction myself, and I've had an iMac of every generation to date.

It would be fascinating to know the ratio of MacBook Air to iMac sales. I bet that will tell us everything about where Apple is focusing its efforts and why.

Yeah, I think you read those tea leaves just right. The Air brings all the portability and comfort of the iPad to the masses with the extra abilities of a personal computer. I'd love to see those numbers, too.

If not in July, then when, . . . Aug, Sept, 2013 like the Mac Pro, never? Then I really want to know why? Why so needlessly long? Something is a changing with regard to Apple and it's desktops lines and they need to clue us in, ...soon!

That so many store has got the 27" model discontinued gotta mean something is about to happen fairly soon. If the 27" will stay discontinued all the way till october that would mean some seriously bad logistic calculations from apple... Which I doubt.
Would it be possible the iMac could come a week or two after ML, or should we just prepare ourselves for a long and boring fall?

Maybe the 27" iMac is joining the 17" MacBook in the great Mac scrapyard in the sky?

Effin' *********.

Ivy bridge hardware is already aging, they need to release the new iMac. If it's not out with ML then I'm buying a 2011 model.

So sick of this waiting in the dark BS, I'm done after the ML release!

Yeah that would teach apple a lesson! :D go get them! Buy 2 machines just to make your point!

Yaaaaawn.
Come on Apple. Release an updated iMac and stop sucking so hard.
Photo's, video's, media on a teeny laptop screen is BS. Rocket science this is not. Get a grip Apple.

Dear Apple,

Bring this imac on the market or see me in the windows user forum !

If you read the corresponding CNet article, their point of view is Apple Store employees basically run around installing images to the computers after closing every day anyway, so why would they need an overnight just for the ML release?

what's the big deal everyone in the computer world hypes their product before release.. yet not a word...

...I can't wait forever without even really knowing if something is coming..

throw us a bone already!

Apple is not like "everyone in the computer world" and never has been. You'll be sorely disappointed if you expect them to change. I am anxiously waiting for a new iMac also, but I know we will not be getting a heads-up from Apple before it drops. For Apple, the lack of pre-release hype is, in effect, the hype.

Just a hunch, but I doubt Apple is concerned about your potential defection. ;)

I will suvive

BTW: does anybody knows how to migrate an iphoto database to windows?

People,
I'm telling you again. New IMacs are coming sooner than later. July 25 will be a spec bump. No way that Apple is going to release ML and leave the existing specs. Apple is under fire right now for how they are handling us desktop people. If everybody on here started sending emails to tcook@apple.com demanding a new iMac or some kind of a explanation the law of averages says somebody is going to get a reply.
I've sent multiple emails and heard nothing back. Make the Subject: Demand iMac answers.
Just send it for the hell of it and let's see if we can get an answer. This doubling down on secrecy BS isn't working for me.

According to 9to5mac you are wrong about July 25.

http://9to5mac.com/2012/07/15/apple-store-overnights-happening-july-24-mountain-lion-launch-the-next-day/

I hope they still do release the new iMac with ML, though.

It could be so they can hang banners and promo stuff ML idk. I want a 2012 iMac so bad I really hope 9to5 Mac is wrong, but by the way apple seems to be doing stuff lately I wouldnt be surprise they don't release and then get spec bump on September because they are that big of an ******s

Agreed

Does anyone know about the 90 day exchage thing if it does come out lateron and i buy one now?

First it was March, then definetly May, then without doubt WWDC, then it will be to tie in with ML release in July.

Apple are just playing stupid bloody games!!

If we don't see it in July then I highly doubt we will see it this year to be honest.

iMac's back in stock :(

Ive been following up on stock i different stores in Denmark. This week there suddenly the stock went up from very few to 50+ and 100+, this is not a good sign for a july 25th release.

MAybe we have to wait until october... Its properly those darn MacBooks fault, taking up all the aluminum cutting machines.. We just have to realize that apple is a "mobile" company, only prioritizing iPhone and MacBooks, then the iMac and the Mac Pro will go double cycle from now on:/

Man, I never expected my 2011 iMac to be "top dog" for this long! I'm also glad I bought the TOTL version (3.4GHz i7, 256GB SSD + 2TB HDD, 16GB RAM, 2GB 6970M) because it's still a fantastically quick machine, even relative to newer Ivy Bridge computers. I just hope with over 400 days between updates the new iMac will be something more signficant than a spec bump whenever it's actually released.

Outrageous!

This news is completely ridiculous!! I have no idea how apple, a company that once took complete pride on their customer satisfaction, could be treating its loyalists so poorly. I can understand their move to a "mobile" company, but that fact of the matter is so many industries rely on their desktops for work and need up to date specs and hardware in order to compete.

I'm a video editor and I'm still running my 2007 macbook pro I bought in college and I can barely do ANYTHING on it anymore, let alone cut. I've been waiting since march for an imac update and if we don't see one by the end of this month or maybe october by the absolute latest, I'm going to have to consider other options, though I really don't know what else I'm going to do. Because buying the current imac at full price for how outdated it is, is an extremely bad investment.

Apple needs to start taking care of its loyalists who rely on these products for a living. What they are doing with the iMac is just bad business at this point...

It is kind of sad. I blame it on the death of Steve Jobs.

Except that Jobs himself publically predicted that MacBooks would be 90% of Apple's Mac business before long, and almost certainly steered Apple on that path.
