Biggest German Apple reseller shows expected shipping date of Aug 2nd.

well thats still hope sometimes they apple comes out with the machines and reselllers and some apple store dont get it till the following week.. it happened to me last year when the macbook air came out.. my gf purchased the macbook air she had to wait a week after apple announced because they didnt have it in stock right away in my local apple store... im 80% the imac is not coming out but not because resellers arent getting it on time..

refreshed models...

Apple just did a refresh of the iMac models with the entry level now having a quad-core i5 and the other models getting bumps.

So, with this happening just in the last couple of weeks, I don't foresee Apple releasing any new hardware for the iMac =(

However, I believe I remember years ago that there was a bump and then a new model came out - I was working at an authorized reseller at the time and a customer came back furious about a new model coming out within a week (or so) of her having just bought one.

(shrugs) All we can do is hope...and wait.

No, they did not do that at all. The iMacs are exactly the same as they were when they launched last year May. There was some educational model released recently that is less powerful, if I recall correctly.

I went to my local apple store this afternoon and nobody had any clue either. They don't tell us anything either he said.

Well on a purely selfish note if a new iMac isn't announced/released then this will mean my 2011 iMac is still current and just requires an upgrade to ML. 13 months on and still current makes one Apple owner happy at least. :D

is there any ways you can check the number for the older imac and the new one youlll be getting the 30th. LET US KNOW!!!

Its all under the same model number in the ordering system ATM, from what I understand the Disti orders under the existing model number then just before the release Apple tell them that that model is not current anymore and substitute it for the new model number.

As such the model numbers is not an indicator at this stage. We have only been a reseller for 6 mths so have only seen 2 upgrades iPad and MPB which they did as per the above.

At least they've been told they won't see anything until 2013 and not hold out hope for next week or next month or next quarter.

How many of the mac pro guys will actually give up on waiting and just buy whatever the top spec BTO iMac is when released. It's clearly going to be here before the pro is.

most of you miss the point of the macpro is not so much for the power is also user upgradability you cant swap video cards on an imac or hardrives and memory in the imac as easy as mac pro so pro users like to add cards like the red rocket card and stuff like that so you cant do that with the imac

I'm one of those guys. I currently use a Mac Pro at work, but need to upgrade and will get a top of the line iMac. It will suit my purposes just fine.

Exactly. Their projected wait is gonna be rough, but they have certainty and clarity: there WILL be a redesigned Mac Pro, and it WILL be out in 2013. They can plan around that. They can figure out what, if anything, they need to get now, and get it. Tide them over, etc. For anyone else with a desktop workflow, they're just stuck in purgatory -- though in fairness the Mac Mini is known for infrequent refreshes and is only now reaching the one-year mark. In the past, the iMac and MBP have had the same ~8-9 month refresh clip. The MBP crowd "got theirs" twice running since the last iMac refresh. The iMac users are very keenly feeling the, shall we say, withdrawal of support in this cycle. We quite literally do not know if there will ever be another iMac... though we speculate in all probability that there will be. We do not have the certainty that the Mac Pro users now have. We can't plan. We can't figure. We can only wait... or grossly overpay for last year's model.

Come on redesign!!

I still can't see a redesign without some form of public launch and I can't see a launch happening without invitations going out about 2 or 3 weeks beforehand. So far, we haven't heard of anything. Unless we hear something today, I wouldn't expect a redesign before 4th (which is the availability we hear from the German resellers).

petition

hey someone should do a petition or a facebook page for the new iMac release, Apple needs to be reminded that there are many people out there hanging for a new iMac...

From the possibly-meaningless-coincidence department, there are 2 NYC stores lacking stock of one the 27" models, and they both list July 25 as the availability date.

Nice! Keep'em coming...it's starting to be a lot of coincidences regarding end of July re-stock of the iMac. Either it means that they hold them back to install ML ( which seems rather strange) or a new model is coming - which I support ;) or just a logistic hiccup.
