Got myself quite a bargain too, I went up to the Apple Store in Culpertino, said "Hey guys, I'm Steve Jobs, I want to buy an iPod nano".
:D :D

Seriously, though. What company wouldn't do something for their 30th anniversary? I am poised to drop some money on something, and I want it to be from Apple...

iBooks (MacBook) really need to be out for the educational buying season which I think has started in March.

Apple really does need to get out their entry-level laptop within the next moth or so, or really loose out on those Education orders.

The April event might not be a big event, in fact it might be little more than MacBook and a few assorted accessories, but I think you can pretty much put money on some kind of event within the next three weeks. 4th April seems the most likely right now.

Hi, welcome to Apple. It's been a great year so far. The new Intel-based iMac is our best selling Mac ever. We've introduced some great new products, like our new iPod accessory, the iPod Hifi. And we've only just started. And what's also great is that today is Apple's 30th anniversary. Yeah. Yeah.

So, it's good to see you all here today at the Apple Campus Conference Theater, and, well, we've got some great products lined up to show you. Unfortunately, that's going to be later in the year. I mean, we have all sorts of things planned, but, to be quite honest, I'm a little confused as to why you're all here. We didn't invite you. I mean, I could show you... I don't know. I got a new iPod yesterday. Yeah. I switched over to the iPod nano. Got myself a 4G. Black. Matches my turtleneck. Take a look at it. It's sweet, isn't it? Got myself quite a bargain too, I went up to the Apple Store in Culpertino, said "Hey guys, I'm Steve Jobs, I want to buy an iPod nano".

Well. Hmmm. Ok. Hey, you know, I'm thinking of upgrading from my iMac G4. I mean, it's great and everything, but I think it's time to maybe move up to one of the latest iMacs. I feel so out of date. So, yeah, maybe next time we meet we can, y'know, see the new iMac I get. I'd like to get a 20". Or maybe I should wait for the plasma line and get a 42"... whoops! No, just kidding. Us, doing plasma? You guys come up with such crazy stuff y'know. Not as bad as the iPhone but, ok.

Well, er, you're still here. How do I get rid of you? Oh. One. More. Thing. Yeah, I went to trade in my Lexus yesterday. I actually got a Volkswagen Bug. Yeah. I'm not kidding. It's white. Well, naturally. I don't actually do a lot of driving. Anyway, it's parked outside if you want to see it.

So, anyway, thanks for coming, and, er, maybe you could, well, wait until we invite you next time? Thanks. Have a great day.

LOL good one. Sounds so real... Is it you Steve? Can i have your old stereo? :)

He says that at the end of most Keynotes, or something similar. When he was talking about Apple's 30th, he said what I quoted above.

That doesn't mean there won't be a new product announcement soon.

Also, just because Jobs says there won't be a 30th Anniversary announcement doesn't mean it still won't happen or that there won't be any products related to it.

I don't think we will see anything on the 28th. I think the annual meeting of shareholders is the 27th and that is an event that requires a lot of orchestration. It would be too much to do that and get ready for a media splash the next day. Despite how it looks, a lot of preparation goes into one of the media events. More likely the following Tuesday. Unfortunately.

Except for classic Apple has gotten rid of everything that used to be Mac. NeXt really took over. Steve might not want to wast time with a past he wasn't a full part of. I think they should release some sort of documentary about apples 30 years on iTunes. Something.

Apple Computer goes to court with Apple Corps on March 27th also..

The quarter centuries are more common to observe, and Apple really didn't do much of anything for their 25th but mention it.

That was going to be my question: what has Apple done for their past anniversaries?

I don't think the UBS Analysts have it right regarding the Macbook/new products announcement. Any new Apple product, particularly a major revamp like the Macbook, or new iPod or download service would warrant a press event.

I'd like to believe that, I really would - but April 1st is very close. Why have invitations not been sent out? We would've heard of an event by now if one was going to take place...:(

I have to agree. I mean it looks like it definitely won't be before April 1st, and chances are slim for the tuesday after as well. I just don't see it happening. The time frame is troubling.

UBS analysts do predict new Intel-based iBooks and a larger MacBook Pro in the "June quarter" and new iPods (including video iPods) by the fall.

Call me observant, but the quarter June occurs in is the second quarter. Which happens to be the same quarter April 1st (Apple's 30th Aniversary) occurs in.

So no matter what happens on April 1st (or 4th?) UBS comes out correct.

Given the speed with which Apple has been able to get the Intel machines out the door (remember it was supposed to take a year from the platform switch announcement until the first machines), I highly doubt Intel iBooks are as far off as June. The iBooks are now *badly* in need of an upgrade. As has been mentioned, anaylists are often only speculating.

Just my 2 cents FWIW

Something is coming
