Yeah, like many others I have been counting the days until the new ibooks but I am beginning to resign myself to counting for a bit longer!

I am of, course, quite happy to be surprised by an earlier announcement ;)

I hate to say it but this seems to tie in quite nicely with apple releasing 30th anniversary products on the 30th of the month, like they did on the 20th March for their 20th anniversary.

oh well:rolleyes:

Is that true? Noooo!!! 30th is my birthday and I'll be on a plane to Rome!

Hang on though... 30th is a Sunday.

Seems to make sense seeing that the First is a Saturday. I think that I'll join the chorus of people saying that either Tuesday would be more likely...

The article says "no media event for the 30th Anniversary." To me that implies no event at all, including April 1st, the Tuesday before and the Tuesday after. I suspect, with all the talk of the 60GB 5G being put on the "at risk" list that we'll see a mid-cycle upgrade to 80GB for the 5G, but no event to announce it (similar to the upgrade to the 4G line to go from B/W to color). As with the 4G & 5G announcements, in October we'll see the iPod video (6G?)...just my 2 cents of course! ;)

Why is Saturday such an off Limits day for Corporations.
Come on Apple - Think Different

Oh I forgot - They are a Corporation - same as it ever was.....

Wouldn't it be cool if Apple just decided to update the store/site on 1st April with the new MacBooks / Video iPod and not say anything.

Would throw everyone completely off guard as we are all expecting a big media event when they could sidestep everyone and just "release" them

I'm with you in thinking this is april fools joke :D

Its only an April Fools joke if told on April 1st. Told any other time and its stupid.

Its like that moron that tells you "your moms dead, she died in a car accident this morning" and after you fall to the floor yells "APRIL FOOLS FOR NEXT YEAR" and its like JUNE.

I'm telling you folks..This "no event","yes event" speculation all depends on what is happening with the Apple Corp. vs Apple lawsuit that's scheduled for March 27th..

If there's an out of court settlement we could see Sir Paul on the Board with Beatles music on iTunes or Apple giving a huge lump of money to Apple Corp.

Money IS the bottom line..Like it or not..

Rolling out new products during the weekend also wouldn't be a good thing for Apple stock, I believe. If they get the MacBook on the market on a Saturday morning, it will be nearly 48 hours before anyone can trade stock based on that. A lot of people wouldn't be pleased.

well all I can say is no intel ibook in my hands by late june = no sale for apple or any future sales for that mater.

I will be forced to buy a thinkpad and try linux or use the gosh alwfull windows as a last resort :(

Need New iBook!

They really need to introduce a new iBook soon. I've been waiting forever for a new iBook!

I bought my current iBook back in High School (October 2001). Started needing a replacement in 2004, but since the iBooks looked exactly like the one I had I just kept waiting for the new model. Getting the money for a new computer was going to be tough and I just couldn't spend it on something that looked exactly like what I already had. Figured a new iBook model was due soon.

After a while it started to look like the iBook was never going to be updated. I thought about getting a PowerBook instead a few times, but they're just too expensive. The $1,000 price point is really important to me. So I just kept waiting. All the while my current iBook's getting more and more dated and less and less useful.

Now, I really, really, really need a new iBook. If we hadn't switched to Intel I'd go ahead and buy one of the current iBooks, but I just can't do it knowing an Intel iBook is somewhere in the future.

Please Apple, release a new iBook! Soon!

I didn`t read all of the posts in this thread, but did you know that apple.com/de/hotnews shows the following:
" Apple auf der Musikmesse

Apple wird bei der diesjährigen Musikmesse in Frankfurt (29.3.-1.4.2006) mit einem eigenen Stand vertreten sein. In Halle 5.1, Stand A71 können sich ambitionierte Hobbmusiker und Musikprofis über Audio-Lösungen von Apple informieren. Erfahren Sie alles über GarageBand, Logic Pro und der passenden Soft- und Hardware für die Audioproduktion. Wir freuen uns auf Ihren Besuch! [17. Februar 2006] "

So, Apple is on the music tradeshow in frankfurt and will tell something about GarageBand, Logic Pro and fitting soft- and hardware.
Hmm, I think its the right event and time to introduce a new iPod =)...

and that is perhaps the most left-field predictions of how a high profile global-mega-corp will publically celebrate a 30th anniversary .......

Hi, welcome to Apple. It's been a great year so far. The new Intel-based iMac is our best selling Mac ever. We've introduced some great new products, like our new iPod accessory, the iPod Hifi. And we've only just started. And what's also great is that today is Apple's 30th anniversary. Yeah. Yeah.

So, it's good to see you all here today at the Apple Campus Conference Theater, and, well, we've got some great products lined up to show you. Unfortunately, that's going to be later in the year. I mean, we have all sorts of things planned, but, to be quite honest, I'm a little confused as to why you're all here. We didn't invite you. I mean, I could show you... I don't know. I got a new iPod yesterday. Yeah. I switched over to the iPod nano. Got myself a 4G. Black. Matches my turtleneck. Take a look at it. It's sweet, isn't it? Got myself quite a bargain too, I went up to the Apple Store in Culpertino, said "Hey guys, I'm Steve Jobs, I want to buy an iPod nano".

Well. Hmmm. Ok. Hey, you know, I'm thinking of upgrading from my iMac G4. I mean, it's great and everything, but I think it's time to maybe move up to one of the latest iMacs. I feel so out of date. So, yeah, maybe next time we meet we can, y'know, see the new iMac I get. I'd like to get a 20". Or maybe I should wait for the plasma line and get a 42"... whoops! No, just kidding. Us, doing plasma? You guys come up with such crazy stuff y'know. Not as bad as the iPhone but, ok.

Well, er, you're still here. How do I get rid of you? Oh. One. More. Thing. Yeah, I went to trade in my Lexus yesterday. I actually got a Volkswagen Bug. Yeah. I'm not kidding. It's white. Well, naturally. I don't actually do a lot of driving. Anyway, it's parked outside if you want to see it.

So, anyway, thanks for coming, and, er, maybe you could, well, wait until we invite you next time? Thanks. Have a great day.
ROTFL

Oversea markets never close - and oversea markets are VERY influential. Market is always different when it opens back up (domestic market) on Monday because the flow of money never stops.
