What about 25th?

NoEVENT !!!! A 30th Anniversary and no event. Not the Apple Computer company I've come to be passionette about, no no no. They had a media event in February that was atrocious and the thought of a $199 leather be it gold trimmed ipod case would indeed be an ultra ultra sick joke but geez even if not any release of any desired / nescessary products to maintain some format of momentum- it would be indecent not to have this event (Anniversary) embellished . Worse case senerio then that no event-- for me this would not only be dissappointing but would indicate something most foul within the company and I would have to release myself from any jubilant supporting energy as when the era of Mohammed Ali and Marvellous Marvin Haggler (self imposed) had ended.

The 25th anniversary is more of a milestone than the 30th, and I don't remember anything special for that. Maybe they planned something, maybe not. Perhaps they are late or had problems with the quality of the product(s) and have to delay it/them.

UBS analysts claim that Apple will not likely be holding a special event for its 30th anniversary.

Despite expectations that Apple will be releasing new hardware soon, another media event is not expected.

UBS analysts do predict new Intel-based iBooks and a larger MacBook Pro in the "June quarter" and new iPods (including video iPods) by the fall.

This is contrary to previous claims that Apple would hold such an event.

That is sad :( I was hoping for at least MacBooks

I thought the i-fi was the April Fools' joke. :)

No, really. If they came out with the video iPod on the 30th anniversary, wouldn't that be a bit of a letdown? I mean, come on, that's not revolutionary, just evolutionary. We need to see something visionary, something that sets us more free, allows us to be more creative -- not something designed from the ground up to be encumbered with DRM, designed to function best tethered to a store pushing canned, commoditized "content."

i think they are going to blow us away come the first. they will find a way to release it without the invitations, as they realized we have come to rely on them, and will announce the intel 'books, and the 30th aniversary mac, and maybe an ipod.

i'd be very suprised if apple didn't mark their 30th with an event. shocked, even.
Here here!

I suppose those analysts didn't see Macworld.
If they view these forums I urge them to watch the last minute of Steve's Keynote and then change their predictions!

Call me observant, but the quarter June occurs in is the second quarter. Which happens to be the same quarter April 1st (Apple's 30th Aniversary) occurs in.

So no matter what happens on April 1st (or 4th?) UBS comes out correct.

Great observation, something could occur at any point between April and June. I think the 20th aniversery Mac was released on March 20th, so the April first may not be worth agonizing over. It could be April 15th or 30th. Lets just hope they start rolling things out soon....

If it does not happen it is only because Apple once again cannot deliver products on schedule. Better do delay than to release something that is not problem free.

Why are analysts random guesses even published for things like that. We all know there will be an anniversary event even if it is two weeks late it will still happen....june quarter....god i don't like UBS...

Gatortenn thinks it's too soon...

for them to be launching a new iPod. Apple has never been one to do what's expected. Therefore, I'd expect them to NOT have an event.

What do they know? I can't imagine Apple releasing anything without a media event. I mean, they held an event for an upgrade to the mini and a boom box. So a redesigned iBook or MacBook won't warrent a special introduction? These folks are obviously new to the Apple party.

They dont always hold press conferences. For example, they didnt hold a media event when they updated the powerbooks (rev B in October a year and a half ago).

Yeah, cos the 20th Anniversary Mac wasn't just an over-priced, upturned, past-it Powerbook with a funky keyboard, was it?

I don't know, my first Mac birthday is in June. :)

Hi.
I can't tell you, how I hate such "predictions" from "analysts". Sometimes I ask myself, if they do have some knowledge about the specific branche. How can a business analyst know, if another company will release hardware? What the hell? DO the know or DON'T? If they don't know it, they should shut up. Because of these guys, other analysts start to think "oh, they may be right!" and further on. And what's the consequence? AAPL fell by > 3%.
Before the Feb 28th event I bought some stocks (at $72). Now AAPL is @ 61$. So I lost about 15%!
Actually I wanted to make some money for extra RAM, etc. for my new MacBook. But I can't imagine that the stock will increase, even if there's a great even, by more than 15% so that I'll make some money.

What if no analyst, such as the guys from UBS, had said anything about a non-taking-place event???

Sorry for my angry post, but I wanted to tell you about my feelings :)

Interest free credit clue?

In the UK Apple have just launched a new interest free credit scheme for "qualifying macs" which runs until 29 April 2006. The qualifying macs include the ibooks and current powerbooks. It certainly looks as though the interest free credit is aimed at moving lines which are not selling so quickly at the moment but could this also mean that these lines will not be replaced before 29 April?

I guess they could just release them without Steve...but why do one recently for less interesting stuff than a new form factor iBook and not do one for the 30th. I think Apple will do the media stuff - maybe Steve will release it on a TV show that day or something.

I hate to say it but this seems to tie in quite nicely with apple releasing 30th anniversary products on the 30th of the month, like they did on the 20th March for their 20th anniversary.

oh well:rolleyes:

Oh yes, I forgot to add that the last interest free credit offer in the UK expired the day before the annoucement of intel iMacs at MW. Just an obervation...
