Therefor OS X Mavericks > Windows RT.

What did I miss?

Perhaps that you can't have Mavericks on a tablet?

"Did I buy the wrong tablet?"

No. You didn't.

He didn't buy the wrong tablet - it was wrong for him to buy a tablet in the first place, considering that what he would have needed is an ultrabook

iPad + external keyboard > any tablet.

Say what you like, iPad still continues to dominate the tablet market by a landslide: apps, experience, you name it. Oh, and sales figures.

Because you say so, oh Great Lord of Tablets, Prophet of Apple! :D

Is it really sooooo hard for you to accept that sometimes, some other companies can have at least a small feature better than iPad? Really?
How can it be better a third party accesory than one that was designed together with the product (eg. MS Surface keyboards)?

And if sales make a product great, OSX and its less than 10% market share means that...
[Note that I like OSX, I just say that to prove that what you said is absurd:cool:]

Who approved this in marketing?! It's a terrible attempt.

I'm guessing it went like this:

"Oh, Mr. Elop - great that I caught you before you leave Finland for good! What's that? You've got a flight to catch? no problem, this'll only take a second. Can you please sign here, here and here? Thanks."

Despite all the bashing MS gets, I'm actually a very big fan of the Metro interface and Lumia line. Live Tiles lend themselves well to a touchscreen and I find it visually pleasing. Nokia does have great industrial designers, they've done a hell of a job making the Windows Phone experience as good as it can be, unfortunately Microsoft has made many missteps. Windows RT should be the same thing as Windows Mobile, or at least be able to run Windows Mobile apps; that's exactly what Apple did by putting iOS on iPhone and iPad which was heavily criticized at first, but turned out to be the right move for development in the end. Right now no one wants to build anything for their mobile/ARM based devices, which is really hurting them. It's a shame to see so much potential thrown away by bad strategy and horrible marketing. They need to stop trying so hard and simplify things into a unified and pleasurable experience for the end user.

Those who know me know I'm not exactly an Apple fanboi. I tried the first Surface and the keyboard sucked / wasn't any better than any of the 3rd party options for the iPad range. I'd be the first to point it out if the 2520 actually were better than the iPad in any way, but it just isn't.

I fail to see how anyone thinks this ad even promotes Nokia's product. You don't even see the damn product until the last 5 to 10 seconds of the video, and it doesn't even try to show off what they call it's "benefits" over an iPad. If I were to ever buy a tablet I'd chose the iPad, no questions asked!

I've been using a Lumia phone for years now (next to my iPhones, that is). I really like WP8 and I love Nokia's hardware. That doesn't change the fact that Windows 8 RT is total and utter BS.

haha that was a good concept. Unfortunately I have never seen an iPad run out of battery even after 2-3 days of use, nor have I ever felt the need for a keyboard...and my friends who do have a keyboard case like the lady in the commercial did!

I've never seen a car running out of gas, still fuel eficiency and milleage are important for some people.

Why RT is worse than say, iOS? Aside from apps in the store the OS itself is more capable (file system, real multitasting (not fast app switch), user accounts...). Please ellaborate. :)

I would love to see an Apple commercial like this:

Have you seen the 3rd party market for Apple products? It's incredible!

There are accessories galore... including keyboards!

I agree, thats why there are several third party solutions for achieving a longer battery time on the iPad. But lets pretend they don't exist, let's pretend the iPad has no keyboard and hey lets make an ad out of this :-D

/S!

Ok. If there is one thing that most reviewers agree about Surface is that the keyboards are great, but well, it's your opinion. Different people have different needs or expectations. :)
About not being better than 3rd party KBs, please have a look at the link I put https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=18254723#post18254723 and tell me how can it be that with so many advantages Surface keyboards are still the same as third party ones.

Nobody pretends they don't exist:). I just said that even battery life in iPad is great some people might need more. Actually the existence of batteries for iPad proves my point.

And about the keboards, first party accesories are almost always better, as they are designed together with the product. https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=18254723#post18254723

The voice work on this advertisement is terrible and does not match the persona of the main actor at all. It does not help that he sounds nasally and giggles.

oh to have been a fly on the wall at that marketing meeting. "our target is male, twenties-thirties who are worried how women will view his choice in tablets."

I expect fanboyism, but you guys are behaving more like children.

My point was that for the most part, people aren't going to know the model number of their tablet -- including the cute girl at the coffee shop. It's about as ludicrous as someone saying, "I have the new Dell T2680 -- isn't it awesome?!" Your average Joe isn't going to say that; and except for that last line in the commercial, it seemed like the commercial was trying to make the Lumia tablet appealing to the average Joe.

lol... I like the voice-over...

I wonder what he was really saying. "oh dam... I hate this piece of s......"

Seriously, these ads make me just turn away,..

Missing one important feature, no track pad or mouse support on the keyboards you are talking about. It makes a world of a difference for work related things like spread sheets.

abysmal ad. atrociously bad.

the use of male embarrassment and the need for female validation is not only overdone but poorly done.

They don't even come with keyboards! $150 extra! Except apparently they're giving them away for a limited time right now.

Not only can I add a keyboard to our iPads, I can do so for less than $150 a pop and they double as protection.

The problem I have with MS tablets is the same problem I have with their PC's, they don't run OS X.
