It's quite possible that Nokia has been working on this design for a while before Apple made the new ipad public.

Haha the iPad mini design has been around since 2012. I doubt Nokia has been working on an Android tablet for that long.

Well itS flattery plain and simple.

Not sure why everyone gets their panties in a bunch.

Screens are rectangular.

And a car is just a box with wheels.

Foxconn executives: "You want us to build more iPad Minis. Sure we can do that. We already have a factory tooled for it."

If this is the case it will be much worse. I see more of the Air 2 and iPhone 6 design. If foxcon is behind this, than I would say they will get sued as they knew what the iPad air 2 and the iphone 6 would look like.

So you are saying that Apple is going to sue Foxcon now then? Well it does seem to enjoy suing it's biggest suppliers. But I very much doubt that Apple is going to beating anyone, then again I do believe Nokia has already sued Apple already so maybe they will want revenge?

Well yes and no, for instance I am getting the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact and Sony have managed to make its design unique with its own language, so it can be done. But it you have a metal back and black edged glass front then pretty much it's an iPad i guess? But it isn't copying Apple as black edges can enhance a screen for your eyes and metal is durable and a bit of luxury, so in that sense then yes their is only so much you can do.

Looks like a large iphone 5/s. First thing that came to my mind looking at that picture. And that's not to make the argument that everyone copies. But these things are tablets. They are bound to remind people of other tablets. It's just the way it goes.

Look at flat panel tvs. They are all pretty much the same damn thing. Why is nobody up in arms over something like that?

Nice. Of course the display is better than the Mini's:

Display
7.9 inch (4:3)
2048x1536 resolution
Gorilla® glass 3
IPS panel with LED backlight
Fully laminated zero air-gap display

Nokia most likely did not gimp the color gamut since they are interested in competing in the midrange tablet space.

Only problem is the crapware "Z Launcher". I really wish OEMs wouldn't bastardize Android with their foul UX creations. It's like walking into a fine restaurant with a block of cheddar cheese and a cheese grater and shredding a layer of it all over every order on the table.

Anyways this looks like a step up from my Nexus 7, so I guess I'll buy one to use while I'm waiting for Apple to stop gimping the Mini's display.

Apparently Foxconn is making/selling this thing and Nokia is just licensing its name.

This tablet kinda looks like what an iPad Mini with the iPhone 6's design style would look like. I wonder if Apple was going to go with this look but changed their mind for some reason and Foxconn had these extra parts ready.

Nah, Apple is on a two year design cycle. Next years iPad will probably take cues from the iPhone.

What's funny is that Nokia can't copy Apple's site properly. Terrible typography and photography work. Why is there a bowl of salt next to the tablet, when the tablet isn't showing anything related to cooking?

LOL, Lava Grey??

They are really grasping at straws when naming these new "colors".

If I recall Lava is not Grey, even when solidified its quite dark nowhere close to what this is...

LOL, Lava Grey? :confused::confused:

Did you perhaps mean LOL, Space Grey?

Igneous rock comes in myriad colors depending on composition. And yes, varying shades of grey are included. A cursory image search may be in order. Space grey on the other hand... now that is a real color. ;):D

The Mini is on Year 3 of the same design... I like the look but I hate the Chamferred Edge...

If I even look at my iPad too hard the Chamfer will scratch.

That's a pretty ugly bimmer. Not that BMWs are generally very attractive cars. The poor man's Porsche lol :)

And don't get me started on their drivers :eyeroll:

That would be a knock off bimmer. Hence his point. :)

Aside from ui, Nokia has nothing left to sell. I'm not disagreeing with you in that vanilla android is the way to go. But that'll can't really sell vanilla android. Licensing is all they have left.

For what it's worth, I do believe that it is technically possible have produce a good skin and overlay for android. I just don't think we've seen it yet.

If nokia is behind this than no one will get sued nor should be. If Foxcon is behind this, then it could get bad. I would personally not sue them if I were Apple, I would just stop using them as much. Until we get more facts it's hard to say what will happen.

Now I've always appreciated NOKIA's design aesthetic, but this thing looks EXACTLY like an iPad. And I mean that in the most sincerest way. (It's awesome looking.)

I'd just be jealous if it includes dual stereo speakers!

I don't see much resemblance to the iPad mini. It, however, it looks a lot like the iPhone 6.

It seems to be a feature packed device though for sub $250
