I don't mind articles on non-Apple products here. It's good to know what the competition is doing. And for those of you that have a problem with it, how hard is it to just ignore the non-Apple stuff? Some people will gripe about pretty much everything.

The 800 model looks to me like blown up iPod nano...

Please remove this whole story - THIS IS MAC/iOS RUMOURS - what a disgrace. If I want this news I can go to engadget/TIMN

This has NOTHING to do with the iPhone.

P.S. Nokia Fail

Why so serious?

What a slow site this would be with coverage of more than just "Mac" Rumors. You're already contradicting your argument by adding the "iOS" if you want to get technical.

It's a big world and there is some overlap - Apps and Innovation to name a few.

You don't want to know what Mac/iOS' Competition is coming out with and or anyone else that visits?

- only 16GB storage
- no front facing camera
- only 720p video

If this comes to the US in 2012 with these specs, it will fail big time.

Thats what people said about the iPhone ( no 3G, no native applications, no copy and paste, crap camera , no MMS etc ).... Anyway, Nokia doesn't need success in the u.s, if it can increase its sales around the world then thats good. Nokia shown they can be successfully without being popular in the states.

720p is good enough for most people.

THIS is the best they could come up with??

After four years of being able to see and use and study the iPhone (and Android), this is their best effort to save the platform? And yes, it needs saving. Badly. It's been a year of anticlimax after anticlimax and incredibly low sales for WP7.

So this is how Nokia goes out. Not with a bang, but with a whimper.

MS and Nokia lost the consumer here a long time ago.

Please explain why it is a whimper? If you know ANYTHING about Nokia, this is NOT their high end.

They will have a 900 edition also.

After reading all the comments, I think I no longer want an Apple product just in the possibility that someone might mistaken me for all the morons that posted here defending apple products. No one attacked them. What is wrong with people that have Apple products, can't they just shut the ****** up and realize not everyone is interested.

Wow - I think you copy/paste this every thread with a competitor. If it's not copy/pasted - it sure sounds exactly the same.

Is this the best criticism you can come up with?

What exactly don't you like about the new phone? I'd love to know specifically - especially since you've never used one.

I think this is a great day for everyone, except Google and Android. The vitriol on the phandroid sites is amazing. Apparently the specs are "lame" the design is "ugly".
Personally, I think the phones look great, the reviews and first impressions sound good so far. Nokia has always done great hardware, these phones are going to have that great hardware, some really pretty good software - that is improving all the time and a killer price. This is BIG, BIG trouble for Android, pretty much the end for BB and a worry for iOS. There are literally millions of Symbian users out there who will be transitioning, staying with Nokia, even if it is a different type of Nokia will appeal, switching to an Android brand may not.
Nokia has great carrier relationships (mainly outside north America). If Nokia can deliver this working, right out of the box, they will have huge sales and be right back in the game.

He just likes to bait people.. nothing more, nothing less.

720p is good enough for most people.

Nokia is competing against the iPhone 4s, not the iPhone of 4 years ago. Its a tough sell for anybody to lose major features like these if they were considering to switch.

And 720p might be good enough for you, but once you have 1080p, there is no going back.

It's just sheer amusement at how flat-footed and sometimes downright stupid the competition has been. And they've had years to prepare.

Reminds me an awful lot of the iPod mini range, I always thought there was something sexy about brightly painted anodised aluminium.

Yeah, I'd be tempted. I've always liked Nokia's hardware but despised their software.

In a world where all phones are trying to get bigger and more feature packed, there's room for a small Nokia.

There is room for everyone

Guys, an iPhone user here and will always be.

However, I do recognize that there is diversity in the market. One (or even 3) sizes dont' fit all. I am actually happy to see they made some progress, Nokia has a global audience and I hope they remain in the game, because whether you like it or not, they are the pioneers of cell phones. Motorolla invented it, but Nokia made it what it is today so give them some credit.

How come specs only matter when Apple is on top of them. Seems as though when other phones all had better specs than the iPhone 4 - "specs don't matter" and "specs don't sell the phone"

Oh the hypocrisy.

Again - you keep making broad remarks like this without any foundation. Your arguments are a house of cards. I'm pulling one out now. Explain to us how this phone is a failure in your eyes. Specifically.

Oooooooooo SNAP ON COLORED COVERS!!
That's SO 1996. I want the Hello Kitty one.
(Ugly phones, BTW. Don't know about the OS.)

Like the snap on colored covers I see on half the iPads and MacBooks running around? Yeah, I don't get them either, but don't pretend they're a non-Apple thing.
